While reading the book ancient China by C.P Fitzgerald, a lot of things happened. First, in ancient China, there were seven states, the most popular one was the Han state. Second, a man called Shi Huangdi ruled the Qin state. He was a very selfish and stubborn man. He was very strong and he killed everyone who tried to confront him. Shi Huangdi conquered all the seven states and he has created the biggest empire called, China. He thought that he could become immortal, and someone told him that if he drank a special poison called liquid mercury, he would live forever. For a couple years, he was drinking it and it poisoned him. His brain was dead and he was very weak, and that is how he died. Finally, three religions came from China, Buddhism, Daoism, and Confucianism.
If another name could be given to this book it would definitely by The Olden Days in China. It would be called that because this book talks about the old days in China and what happened there before. Another name would be Uniting China. It would be called that because most of the book is talking about how Shi Huangdi unified China. This topic is very important. It is important because it is talking about one of the biggest countries in the world. It is important because people need to learn how China became what it is because most of the things people own are from China. Finally, this is an acrostic poem of the word China, Children are limited in China. Humongous Incredibly big Now it has one of the biggest populations Apart of the biggest countries in the world Thus, these are the answers to three very important questions.
I do not recommend this book to everyone for several reasons. First, I don’t recommend this book to everyone because lower schoolers and middle schoolers might find it boring because it is very long with details and middle schoolers will have probably learned about ancient China in seventh grade. On the other hand, I recommend this book to people who like history a lot. I would recommend it to them because they would learn a lot of new things. While reading this book my favorite part was learning Shi Huangdi and how he united China. My least favorite part was at the beginning when the book just talking about how the seven states came. In conclusion, this book is not made for everyone.
At over two thousand years old, China has the oldest surviving civilization. The author looks at how that civilization occurred and how it changed over time. There is a section with many Chinese parables.
