Falling

In another time… Boundless blue skies. Oblivion. The pull of the sky through the wall of windows in Erin Freyn’s new apartment is as enticing as it is disturbing. It seems to call her to step out, to let go, to surrender herself into its terrifying embrace. But when she turns to a hypnotist for help, she never dreams it will uncover long-hidden secrets – of ageless magic and forbidden romance. In another place… David Elder is trying to live up to the memory of his brother, who died while working with inner-city kids. He couldn’t save his brother, but perhaps with his magic he can save another. When he hypnotizes Erin to seek a cure for her fears, they discover instead an ancient connection. In a past life, he was a medieval knight and her illicit lover… before things went very wrong. Today… Fate has given them a second chance. Will they take it and finally find happiness, or will they be doomed to replay history yet again?

Erin Freyn works in Washington D.C. for Congressman Tom Whitmeyer. She has held this position for a couple of years and, for the most part, really enjoys it. It also serves as the perfect base for her own political aspirations. Life was great until the fateful day her boss took her to the apartment on Dupont Circle. Erin suffered acutely from basophobia and when she was confronted with an entire wall of floor to ceiling glass, she felt that she would fall at any minute. The view, eighteen stories up, over Washington on a clear blue day is breathtaking and Erin is scared to death.
Her boss gives her an ultimatum; take the apartment at a ridiculously low rent, or lose her job and face the consequences. She would be given a raise and only have to pay a small portion of the rent, in exchange for agreeing to vacate said premises for the night on a half hour notice. Tom Whitmeyer wants a love nest in the city for the occasional rendezvous with his mistress. Against her will and better judgment, Erin signed the lease. Now her only problem is to conquer her phobia. When her best friend Lanie, suggests employing a friend of a friend to plant a post-hypnotic suggestion in her mind, she reluctantly agrees. Little does she know what doors will soon be swung wide open.

In recent years a multitude of time-travel novels have flooded the reading market. This book doesn’t fall into this category. Like in the 1970 movie, starring Barbra Streisand, On a Clear Day You Can See Forever, Erin experiences a mental reincarnation, sending her back to the early Middle Ages and the love that was meant to be. This story combines contemporary drama with historical fantasy, romance, and erotica. This is all achieved through a unique and hitherto (to me in any case) format. It is an enjoyable read that should appeal to a wide public.

I enjoyed reading “Falling” by Meredith Bond. The book made me laugh in few scenes and the best part is – it ended with a happily ever after ending which is what I love the most about books. If it makes me cry happy tears, then I know it’s a good read.

I really liked David and how his character developed throughout the story. You can tell that he’s one of those kind people. I loved seeing the interaction between him and Erin – it was like their souls clicked together – even in the past and the present. I enjoyed seeing Erin growing into a stronger and more confident woman as I read more.

There was a big surprise towards the end of the book but I don’t want to say anything more – you’ll have to read it to find out. I started the book yesterday morning and finished it in one day. I would definitely recommend it to friends.

5 stars!

I absolutely loved this story.
So it's a book mostly about Erin, she has magic yet doesn't really use it. It just wasn't done in her family. Though for her she feels emotions others put off, hard to ignore at times. She has to move into a new place, that really freaks her out. She gets help by hypnosis and whoops uncovers some hidden history. The past and present are interwoven perfectly. That's where David comes in and he plays a big part in both past and present lives. You have the characters you like and the ones you don't. I will say the author did shock me with the turn of one of the events. I saw it coming yet it still some of it got me.

I liked following the main character. She didn't know much about what was happening. Yet was eager to learn and understand what was going on. It was a steady progress in the story line. Not page after page of hashing out the same thoughts. There were many times I chuckled to myself. Serious and funny. I really want to know what happens next!

The writing style of Meredith Bond was very enjoyable, I will most definitely read more by her!

I received this book at the Goodreads Lovers of Paranormal group for free in exchange for a fair and honest review.

*** I received a copy of this story in exchange for a honest review.***

I am really glad that I was able to read and review Falling, what a fun story! I loved the flashbacks that both David and Erin had, of their past life together. I was pleasantly surprised that this all tied in with the story of Merlin. The only thing that kept me from giving this story 5 stars, was some of the romance between modern day David and Erin was a little on the cheesy side, aside from that such an imaginative take on the story of Camelot.

I really enjoyed this book. The characters were very well written. I loved how you got to see Erin and David's story both in the present and past. I didn't care for the ending. I feel it stopped very abruptly. I don't know if there will be a continuation but it leaves you with many unanswered questions.
