From the New York Times Bestselling Author of The Resistance comes this new sexy and funny standalone.
Everything you've heard about modeling is true, and you haven't heard the half of it.
It's glamorous.
It's sexy.
And yes, the line between work and reality often blurs.
We're not just prototypes of perfection. Models have feelings and desires, too. We may be genetically gifted, but we're still human.
I'm only human. Yes, an extraordinary specimen that earns more in a day than most make in a year, but this eight pack didn't create itself. I spend hours working on this body. The good looks just come natural. *Winks* Thanks, Mom and Dad.
I'm Danny Weston, Supermodel.
But one path was traded for another when I chose this career. Ten years later, I would trade my career to have it back. To have her back.
Reese Carmichael is the one woman I would give it all up for, and the only one I can't have. Yet.

Review I am a sucker for a second chance romance. I really liked Reese and Danny's story. Reese was the love of Danny's life and he was the same for her 10 years ago. Errors on both of their parts caused their breakup. Now Reese is an ad exec and Danny a model. He is the new model in an ad campaign she is working on. I could really see the chemistry between Reese and Danny. Even after all of the years between them as a listener I could still sense the attraction between the two of them. I was so curious to find out why they were apart in the first place. The story offers little flashbacks on their past and how they got to where they are today. I really enjoyed listening to Reese and Danny's story. From the beginning I could tell they were meant to be together but they had so many obstacles, back then and in the present. I felt Reese could have handled the situation better in the past but I see why she did what she did. I can tell it would be hard to be with a model and all that it entails. I really loved Danny. He was not they typical model but maybe that was because he is older or maybe it is because he never stopped loving Reese. I love his relationship with his friend Luke and the advice he would give him. You can tell Danny really is a good guy. Like I say so many obstacles in the present to keep them apart. I think all the conflict in this story was very realistic. I may not know much about a models life but it seemed pretty true to life. This book was humorous at times and very sweet and sexy. I was very satisfied with the ending of this one.
Narration Kylie Stewart as Reese Eric Rolon as Danny This story is told in a dual POV with chapters as Danny and chapters as Reese but the narration style is duet where Kylie Stewart does all the female characters and main narration in Reese's POV and Eric Rolon does all the male characters and the narration in Danny's POV. I am a fan of this narration style and I think these narrators did a good job with this book. I liked Kylie as Reese. Some of her female voices sounded too close to Reese. There was not a lot of distinction between those characters but I still think she did a good job. Eric was really good as Danny. I liked his narration with the other male characters. This was my first book narrated by these narrators and I would listen to another book narrated by them.
Overall I really enjoyed this audiobook. I was really invested in this story. This one is a recommended listen from me.
This was such a sweet feel good kind of story. I absolutely loved Danny. He is obviously model hot, but more than his outer good looks, he was a super sweetheart and a very good friend. Reese... well I completely understand where she was coming from with her feelings of insecurity when they were younger. What I find extremely annoying is her lack of communication His communication was obviously lacking as well to a degree. But I guess it just wasn't their time back then.
Anywho... I liked both of them and I was so happy for them to get their second chance. My only complaint is Vinnie was AWSOME! A perfect side character. I Loved him. I'd definitely read more of this series. Happy reading!
Second chance love story for Danny and Reese, who met and fell in love in College but Danny's aspiring modeling career and Reeses insecurities pulled them apart. When after 10 years, work brings them together again, you just knew that the love was still there and nothing would break them apart this time. No matter how hard people try.
There were so many things that worked for me: 1. Any angst, and the "Oh no's", that tear couples apart were communicated and worked through together. 2. I especially loved that it was grown up circumstances and responsibilities, not another woman that caused them temporary grief. 3. The toggling between past and present in the beginning set the stage for me and truly helped me understand who these two are to each other. 4. The BFF's: Most especially Vinnie and Luke who added humor and emotional support to their story.
I am so happy I read this - I am going to look into other work by this author!
Sweet Talk is a sexy second-chance romance comedy standalone. The story of college sweet hearts who are torn apart by dreams for success & misunderstandings. Supermodel Danny, while grounded & realistic about his career, he’s never stopped feeling the void his college girlfriend left. Reese, buried herself in an advertising career to distract herself from the love of her life she was driven away from by a jealousy she didn’t fully understand. Ten years have passed & their paths cross once again, but will they be able to pushback priorities to make room for each other – they learned years ago that “Not all fairytales end with happily ever after”.
Told in first person, from dual perspectives, with a few flash backs, this second-chance romance has a deep love that feels like home & is full of hope of new beginnings – that they will have a tomorrow, finally together & “Ready for our forever.”. But they have to fight for happiness together, the struggle to put their relationship first continues to be real. Very sexy, “full sizzle” hot - with intent to “make you miss me when I’m not here…” Fun supporting characters that made me giggle “Oh my Mary, Candy girl…”. Includes a serious twist of addiction, personal vendettas & potential severe consequences for careers & hearts – “Paying the price for making a deal with the devil.”.
“What was once hollow is now overflowing with feelings, happiness, love, peace.”
This is audiobook review is given without having read the book previously. I love S.L.’s work & wanted very much to enjoy the audio version of this story, but it was a struggle. I felt that the delivery of dialogue by the narrators did not flow well. Many mechanical feeling dialogue & wrongly timed pauses, for me there was a sense that statements ended with question marks. As the story progressed, these things seemed to either improve, or maybe I just got used to them – perhaps a combination of both. It was difficult to identify shift from present to flashbacks. Did I mention the handful of mispronunciations? I’ve listened to many, many audiobooks & this one took almost a week to get through – which for me is unheard of. A good story in spite of the disappointing audiobook - “It’s too much and not enough.”
Audiobook provided in exchange for an honest review.
I loved how the narration went with this story. Voice actors Ms. Stewart and Mr. Rolon went back and forth in the telling of this story which gives the feeling that they were talking to each other - like we might be eavesdropping in on their conversations. Mr. Rolon had me falling in love with a secondary character named Vinny. He did such a good job with him that I looked forward to those scenes. Ms. Stewart did an equally good job with the female characters especially with Reese. There were times that she had me feeling sorry for her.
This is a story that gives you an idea of the world of the male model. You think the female model's world is tough. It's the same for the men in the industry. There are times where things can be misunderstood because of what we see at a certain point in time. How do you get past something like that? Because pictures don't lie, right? How can a relationship survive when your special someone is always leaving?
This is the time of year, here in New England, where yard cleanup is a must. What better way to make the time more "enjoyable" than to listen to a book. I was lucky enough to do that with this one. At times my neighbors must have thought I was crazy. I would react and talk to something that was being said between Reese and Danny. Then Vinny would have me laughing. When Reese's boss shows up, I want to either kick him in the shin or put him in one of my leaf bags that I was filling.
I can certainly see myself listening to this book more than once. And that's whether I'm doing yard work or not. It made an arduous task go by quickly and it made me laugh. It also had me concentrating on the story and stop thinking about some other things that could bring me down.
There's another secondary character named Luke that actually has his own story. Check out his story in "Dirty Talk". I actually listened to that one first but I held off on writing my review. I'm glad I did because after listening to this book it has me wanting to see if I look at Luke's story a little differently. I hope you enjoy Reese and Danny's story as much as I did.
I voluntarily reviewed an Audiobook copy of this book.
Ah, so I've read the Resistance series a couple of times - this is Danny's story (the neighbor). I don't think I put it together the first time I read this one because I wasn't familiar enough with S.L. Scott's universe at the time.
Danny is a pretty good guy. He's a very well known model and makes a really good living. When he gets an offer to do some ads for a famous designer, he's stunned to find Reese, his ex girlfriend from college. He thought he'd marry her, but she wasn't able to come to terms with how she felt about him travelling all over the world for her job and she left him with no explanation.
I don't know if I can express just HOW good Danny is, through and through. Obviously in the 10 years he and Reese have been apart, he's sown some oats. A LOT of oats. But once he sets eyes on her again, his heart is once again lost to the only girl he's ever loved.
I thought Reese was a little immature to leave the way she did but they both probably needed the time apart. Now she's doing well in the advertising business although she's having issues with HER ex, who just happens to be her boss.
This was a great story about a second chance at romance. It's been 10 years since Reese walked out of Danny's life just as his modeling career was taking off. She didn't want to hold him back and she could handle seeing him with beautiful women draped all over him even though it was part of his job. Ten years later Reese has worked her way up to a successful advertising executive and hires Danny who is now a supermodel (but don't call him that to his faces) for a high end designer fashion campaign for a mens line. Reese thought she would be able to handle working with Danny. But all the feelings they once had for each other are brought back to the surface. They never really got over each other but they are not sure if they get past the hurt can make it work after all of this time. I didn't realize this was Danny the Model from another SL Scott book The Resistance. It was fun having Holly and Jonny Outlaw make an appearance. Danny is sexy, confident and funny I loved his character.
I really REALLY enjoyed this audio book ! The H was very sweet and the h was as well. The pace was just perfect and side characters did a great job on making the story developing. I liked the few glimpses from the past that make us reader understand how (and why) they broke up 10 yeas earlier (and how much they were initially in love in college). Also, the modeling univers is very different from so many CEO and sport romance I've red lately. Sexy scenes aren't the best I've read (and aren't very numerous) but the LOVE story compensates a lot. I LOVED the ending and can't wait to read book 2 in this series!
Honestly, I don't understand why the average rating of this book is so low. Under 4 stars ??? what the hec ???
This is going on my Fav shelf. I enjoyed the palpable passion between Danny and Reese. The anticipation of their HEA made it hard to put my iPad & iPhone down. While some of the events were predictable, I still appreciated the journey.
The only slight irritation I had was the onset of Reese's growing insecurity about Danny's loyalty to her in the second half of the book. She started out being confident in their love but then started getting petty and doubtful about minor things.
The book had some great humorous moments as well. I look forward to reading more of this author's work.
I'm a sucker for a great second chance romance. And this one did not disappoint. Renee and Danny- I have no words. Loved them both!! And Vinnie!! We all need a Vinnie. All the characters felt like real friends. I laughed and I cried. Loved it. Loved it. Loved it!!!!!! Sometimes we aren't ready the first time we encounter our forever. Sometimes it's the second chance that means the most!
It started off promising, but the number of explicit sex scenes diluted the story for me. By all means, be detailed and descriptive, but reduce the number of them! There were so many that they lost their impact for me. I didn't feel the love between the characters and they all (except Danny, the main guy) felt under developed. Along with the smut, I want a well-written story with multi-dimensional characters to captivate me. This book didn't deliver that.
Cute enough but nothing to write home about. Annoyed he never told her he was about to propose and she ran. She blamed him too much till the last quarter of book. Vinnie made the book. I'm actually not sure what her job was as it was always said in passing how awesome she was but never saw that from a work perspective. Glad it was free.
I loooovvvveee this story!!!!! Ms Scott did fantastic job on this ! I love her books. This is the best so far & I still have a lot to go. This book is great for anyone! This is one of those reads you feel! There's anger, sadness, happiness and up & downs. You ride with the characters. You won't regret reading this one & I'm looking forward to reading the next book!!
I liked it but it was a bit repetitive back and forth back and forth usually you want a book like this but this back and forth got annoying it didn’t keep me interested. S.L. Scott is one of my favorite authors and I loved her rockstar books but this one is my least favorite Sorry.
This was a cute love story, kind of predictable but a quick and easy. I liked the fact that the hero, Danny, was a model, which was a different take on a familiar plot. Some of the things that happened at the end seemed unrealistic but all in all, an entertaining book.
The ups and downs of being a professional model and handling all the contracts and bullshit goes on in the modeling industry. The rivalries and the jealousy is being top or bottom model.
What a great second chance story. This story is about overcoming doubts, finding strength and believing in one another. The characters were great, especially Vinnie! I sure hope he gets a happy ending! The story was swoony as the characters!
I really enjoyed this book. It was a bit of a slow build and fairly predictable but very well done. No major typos or word misuse. I liked it and will read more by this author!
I enjoyed this second chance at love. It’s been 10 years since Reese broke Danny’s heart when she left him. Loved that they got another chance and that they proved they can make it work now. Loved their happy ever after.
I'm a huge fan of S.L. Scott. She never disaspponts! I'm a sucker for second-chance romance and I loved that we finally got Danny's story! Really enjoyed this book!
