In this full-color guidebook, readers can explore the artistry of the stained glass windows of Washington National Cathedral as they learn of the stories behind the Cathedrals 231 windows.
This 2017 hardcover edition, expanded from the long-out-of-print 2004 edition, is a complete guide to the Cathedral’s windows and includes photographs of each window accompanied by descriptions of the iconography, and information on each window’s artist. The exquisite Space Window is featured on the cover of this volume.
This is soooo cool if you: -like the National Cathedral -like stained glass -like exploring biblical and theological art and imagery -like to connect biblical and theological concepts with historical figures, events, and trades.
It's a fun and fascinating book for those who nerd out about these things. I only wish it were huge or online so I could see the images in better detail.
The book itself is art. Well organized, detailed diagrams, and well-written with lost of information contained in uniformed length passages, this book presents every window in the cathedral. I read and studied all of it!
