Throughout my childhood I was always told I had a very creative imagination. I was drawn to stories of mythical creatures and all things that would usually give my peers the heebie geebies. Shows like Tales from the Crypt Keeper and Buffy the Vampire Slayer were among some of my favourites.

I developed a strong passion for design and illustration, drawing the ideas that arose in my head and finding great excitement in bringing them to life. This led me to pursue a career in graphic design and marketing so that I could always use my creativity to the fullest.

I have always loved reading and the way a compelling story would allow my mind to absorb its detailed imagery. I began to use writing as a tool to bring my creative thoughts to fruition one day, which has brought me to this moment.

I'm a romantic at heart and a sucker for stories about true love which is reflected in my writing and helped bring the Oleah Chronicles to life. I hope you enjoy my first book and through it you experience the eccentric vision that began in my mind so long ago.

Oleah Chronicles: Justice picks up where we left Angel Seriki in Oleah Chronicles: Truth. This time our heroine is doing everything she can to rescue her best friend Julie and to become stronger by training under the guidance of her Oleah parents and of course, together with the love of her life Zander.

I loved that the sequel was a light read and it introduced a whole new premise. The introduction of new characters was also a great thing since it offered a refreshing feel to the readers. What I just didn't quite enjoy was how some scenes became abrupt. I thought the world building here also lacked and fell flat. Also, I was expecting a lot of romantic scenes between Zander and Angel, but... :( Then there's Julie who kept annoying me most of the time. :( However, there's this Zander line that made me swoon. :)

"Sometimes, you don't realize you're broken until someone brings you the piece that's been missing in your life. You are my missing piece, Princess. Going back to a world that you're not in, is not an option. My life belongs to you."

The book was still beautifully done and though it lacked on some levels, the plot was spot-on and Angel's character development was evident. In addition, the book's ending was a BANG and it certainly made a difference. It made me question what will happen to Julie and Angel's friendship now that there's a huge change between them. :)

(Thank you to the author Michelle Johnson for sending me an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review!)

Angel is still coming to terms with the knowledge that she's an Oleah, when at her birthday party, everything falls apart, when her best friend Julie is kidnapped by demons. She is placed between a rock and hard place, when she has to make a decision to save her world or to save her best friend. Which will she choose? Which would you choose?
This was a really quick and easy read. I had read the first book and was very interested in seeing what was next for Angel and I was not disappointed as the book literally starts where it ends off.

I've been waiting to get my hands on this one! I LOVED the first one, one of the best books I've read. I also want to point out for those that now only read diverse reads, this is one and this is a freaking great one! I would love to see the world read this and get it the hype it deserves.

Okay, I need to quit fangirling and actually get to the review but it's hard! I just want to gush. I first want to thank the author for sending me a copy to review.

Angel is still as strong as she was in the first novel, still not scared to do what's right or even give up her life for her friend. She is training with her parents and her Zander. She's not scared, not really. She is just accepting and I love that. Angel is such a strong role model for girls. Zander was a good character in the first installment, now he's so much better! Now that we know we can actually trust him. Their romance is sweet, I just wish we'd seen more of them together.

The plot is moving, Angel has to save her best friend. But the reason I do knock this half a star, is because it does feel in some parts to be the bridge book. Thankfully it's not much but it's there. It does a great job though at making me want the third book. It's going to be epic! I don't know how I'm going to wait for the next one...

Original review: The Daydreaming Bookworm

I received an ARC from the author in exchange for an honest review.

A few weeks ago, Angel Seriki was nothing more than your average teenager, or so she thought. Her life is turned upside down when she learns that she is actually a Princess of a far away planet known as Uforika. She is an Oleah, a creature who is half human, half lion and she is destined to save her people from an evil sorceress named Sindrell. But first, she must save her best friend Julie and that means making sacrifices, even if it means having to give her own life.

I read the first installment in the Oleah Chronicles, Truth, last year and really enjoyed it. It was nothing like I’ve ever read before, a paranormal book with elements of fantasy, and that’s what I liked most about it. I was really excited for the sequel to see where Angel’s story was going to go, but unfortunately this book fell victim to ‘Second Book Syndrome‘ and I didn’t enjoy it as much. First, here’s what I liked.

I liked Angel in the first book and my feelings towards her have not changed. She’s a strong character who doesn’t back down. She faces evil head on and she’s willing to risk her own life for the ones she loves. I also liked her relationship with Zander, which I was initially on the fence about. I didn’t really trust Zander and I thought that he was only pretending to be an ally, but he proved me wrong and he’s not so bad after all. I kind of wish there were more scenes of these two together throughout the book.

I also like the overall concept of the story, Angels vs. Demons, Heaven vs. Hell. Like I said before, it’s different. There are a number of different paranormal creatures in this book and although you’d think that it wouldn’t work, it does. Even the the aspects of fantasy here and there blend in nicely for a book that would be classified as paranormal.

My problem with this book was with the writing. I felt that some parts of the story were underdeveloped, like the world-building. I want to know more about the planet Urofika and it’s people, maybe a more detailed description of the planet because I really couldn’t picture it. Also, problems were too easily fixed. I wished things were more dragged out. I was hoping for some EPIC battle between Sindrell and Angel, but that issue blew over quickly and a new one arises almost immediately. There was no time for the reader to digest all the things that were happening and it became a bit overwhelming. I also want to know more about the other characters, like Angel’s parents and even the Archangels.

I also didn’t like Julie. I didn’t like her in the first book and I don’t like her now. I can’t picture her as being a villain. She’s whiny and doesn’t care about world domination, she just cares about herself. I like my villains to be CONFIDENT, slightly COCKY, SARCASTIC and I personally don’t think she has what it takes.

Overall, the second installment in the Oleah Chronicles was okay. I expected more, but everything was just too rushed. I’m am interested to see what happens next, but I hope that there are no easy fixes to all the problems in the next book. I WANT DEVELOPMENT, a meatier storyline, because things are about to get intense and I would hate it if everything was solved with just a quick fix.

3.5 stars!

Angel was still reeling from the events that happened to her from the last book. She was still coming to terms with the knowledge that she's an Oleah from another world, Uforika. She was just a normal girl excited to spend her birthday when all hell broke lose and her bestfriend Julie was taken captive by demons. Suddenly she was a Princess and a half-human/half lion at that, and soon she had to make a decision between saving the world or saving her best friend.

I loved the new and more powerful Angel in this second book. She's proven to be quite the friend, warrior, princess and Oleah all rolled into one. I admire her determination to save Julie, but I don't think Julie needed saving anyway. It was understandable that Julie had been brainwashed by Sindrell that's why she had turned into a snarky, sarcastic, infuriating bitch who had put Angel into a lot of pain. But over the course of the book, I became more annoyed at her until the end.

Speaking of the end, oh gosh, what a blood-boiling story this book turned out to be! I thought I also had this lion instinct and personally inside of me, waiting to be released. I growled when Angel saw what happened to her loved one, it was really sickening and heart wrenching. Angel versus Demon, literally.

Oh wait, I think I was forgetting something? Yes, Zander. Alexander Laurence Black was also back and I think I liked him even better now. He was quite goofy and sweet with Angel and their bond had grown stronger after all they'd been through. I wouldn't mind meeting Zander in another parallel world.

Overall, this had been a nice installment. Although I must admit, I liked the first book better. Justice (Oleah Chronicles Book 2) is exciting, that's true. But I was left wanting for more; I thought there wasn't much action and interactions. That there was something missing, like consistency aa and I dunno...something else felt quite abrupt. I would have loved to know and see more of the planet Urofika, too, plus the people inhabiting it, more about Coral and Angel's parents and would have loved to see more of Angel and Zander together. But I think that's okay because it clearly shows that the next book is going to be another rousing battle between the good and the evil, the angel versus the demon, from best of friends to sworn worse enemies.

Oleah Chronicles: Justice
Michelle Johnson

Justice begins right where Truth left us. Angel is desperately trying to come up with a plan to save Julie.

Justice is full of action and emotion. The story moves steadily and is definitely a page turner. Angel has plenty of growing up to do fast. Her parents and other Oleah are training her as quickly as possible. I think her emotional ups and downs are to be expected of a high school age young lady. She and Zander's relationship is young and sweet, even though he is a pretty old being (snicker). Sindrell is an evil and clever character and I like the sinister nature she adds to the story.

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

All the characters are well developed and interesting. I am partial to Coral's character. Justice has plenty of amusing banter along with the drama.

Michelle has done another great job of writing an exciting YA paranormal that I truly enjoyed reading.

We are left with a cliffhanger and I expect that the grand conclusion to be in the next installment.
Angel, Zander and Julie have more obstacles in their future that should be another exciting read.

I was gifted a copy for an honest review.

Justice⭐⭐⭐1/2 (Give Me Back My Julie!)

Story:
It begins right where the first book ended. And that means we get straight into action. Decisions have to be made and a plan of action has to be chosen and executed. And this under a huge amount of pressure. This situation does not bring out the best in the characters, and there’s a lot of dispute going around. But they all unite behind a plan and sets out to execute it.
I think the story is really good, but for me there is a slight disinterest in a big part of the whole journey. And that is due to the fact that I like Julie's storyline much more than Angel’s. Angel is a sweet character, but I can’t connect to her ”chosen one” attributes. This is totally a personal preference, but I wish there were more about what Julie goes through and how she feels. But like Yin and Yang they make perfect harmony side by side. I would just have preferred equal darkness to light.

Writing:
The first half of the book is very fast paced and hectic. Then at the middle of the book, the climactic battle has already been done, and now it’s time to deal with the aftermath of what happened at earth in the last book, the emotional adjustments to the new situations and the lingering threats still around even though the battle is won. I really liked this! Anything that is outside the box and done well is exciting to me. Excitement in the beginning, calm ponding in the middle, dread and chock in the end. Great mix of emotions!
But, there were not enough time in the middle for a proper build up or to really connect to the characters before the bomb in the end. In the first book Angel had reoccurring nightmares for weeks, which left her drained, scared and confused. Here everything happens in a matter of days.. Had the story taken place during a longer period of time like the first book, it probably would have affected me more.

Conclusion:
The cliffhanger it ended on was superb, but I just wish that there had been more time, details and a bit slower progress to the story at large. That way I would have enjoyed the journey more and gotten more invested in the plot. When so many big events take place in just a short period of time, I feel as though I just watched a ping-pong match. But I enjoyed the book, and truly see people loving this series. It’s just not a good fit for this Swedish grandma. 3.5 stars from me, who still wish this book would have been around when I was a teen.

4.5 stars! An excellent sequel!

This novel picks up right after the ending of the last book. Angel has discovered and come to terms with her Oleah origins and powers, accepting her true identity and role in the universe. However, Sindrell has taken Angel's best friend Julie captive, and is now demanding Angel give herself up in exchange for Julie's life. Angel must now make a decision to either protect those she loves, or protect the rest of the world from Sindrell...

Angel's personality was what really drew me to her, much like the previous book. She's noticeable a different person than the first, with new strengths and responsibilities, but her heart and sense of right and wrong remained the same. Angel went through a wide variety of emotions in this novel, everything from shock to anger to joy to doubt, which made her very realistic and enjoyable to read about. Her loyalty to her friends, family, and home made her such a strong character. I loved how though Julie was her main focus in this novel, Angel never ignored or sacrificed her other relationships. She still managed to find time to be with Zander, letting their relationship grow stronger, and to include her parents in her life. She cared about the well being of everyone, never letting her concern over one person damage or completely overshadow her relationships with others. And with her new strengths, powers and allies, Angel is on the rise to becoming someone you do not want to mess with!

Zander, or should I say Alexander Laurence Black (that is an amazing name), had to be my favourite character. Funny, sweet, protective, and amazing, he offset Angel's agitation perfectly, knowing when to comfort her and when to give her space or let her do things on her own. I absolutely adored their relationship, especially since Zander continued to do or say the best things. He completely believed in Angel, and helped her any way he could, from helping her devise a plan to save Julie or helping convince her parents that Angel was strong enough to handle situations on her own. And all their stolen moments, like playful surprise attacks to a dance to a kiss--loved it. Loved it! The fact that the romance isn't the driving force of the plot enhanced the story and their romance so much, really making you savour every stolen kiss or banter between the two. I can see exactly why Angel fell for him, and honestly, I totally wouldn't mind a Zander of my own!

We get a new perspective apart from Angel in this novel: Julie. It was quite interesting to see what was going on in Julie's mind, to see how she was handling everything. Needless to say, Julie's reaction and integration into the new world of Oleahs and other paranormal creatures was significantly different than Angel's. But she kept her sarcastic tone the entire way through, which really brought a sense of humour and irony in juxtaposition to Angel's perspective and the general plot line. I did question some of Julie's choices, and would have like to see a bit more depth to her thought process just to get a better sense of what was going through her head and whether she's had a complete change of heart. I'm really hoping we'll get to see more of Julie's perspective in the next book to figure her out, though!

We don't get as much of Angel's parents in this book like in the last one, but Eli and Satine were no less important. The brief scenes of them spoke numbers of their importance to both Angel and to the world. Though it was initially a challenge for them to both trust Zander and to let Angel handle things by herself, once they did, they were completely supportive. I really enjoyed their presence, and hope that they'll have more page time in the next book!

The ending is definitely a bigger cliffhanger than the last book. I can't believe it ended like that! I'm devastated by the new developments, the new revelations, everything. Never in a million years did I guess for Julie to do that. I can only imagine what kind plan Angel will devise, now that it's hinted that she'll be taking a trip to the Underworld in the next book. With the author's creative and imaginative mind, the possibilities are endless of what will happen... It's going to be a painful wait for the next book, that's for sure!

Overall, this is a great follow-up to the first book. I did notion some run on sentences in dialogue, but it didn't really take away from the overall plot or characters. Like with the first book, I also really wished it was longer. Barely 200 pages...sigh. I'm hoping the next one will be longer! And more Zander, please!

I received a copy of this book courtesy of the author in exchange for an honest review. This has not influenced my opinion in any way.

Ooh la la, what a solid sequel this is. In this one, Johnson gets darker, more vicious; the stakes are much higher here and the writing style improves marvelously.

So, the difference between Justice and its predecessor is great. Very. The improvement is obvious; the characters, for one, are now much more likable and, most importantly, they are no longer static.

Their character development will not go unnoticed, and I believe that the sudden switch to writing in dual 1st POV was a successful decision made since it allowed the novel to expand in a more 3-dimensional way. The line of sight felt more complete, somehow, with two narrators, a decision that usually cannot be pulled off. Here, though, Michelle Johnson makes it work. And the result is glorious.

I'd also like to address the sudden difference I noticed in Angel. She was very unlikable in the previous book, Truth, but here, she develops a sense of maturity and she starts acting sensibly.
Needless to say, this difference made me enjoy this installment a whole lot more than it's predecessor.

Also: the mythology. The mythology, guys. It's one of the best I've ever seen. I love love love when authors take common myths or landmarks and twist it one way and that. It made me so very happy. It's super creative and I seriously can't stop talking about it. Johnson, I applaud you.

See, I really can't stop stressing how unexpectedly better this one was than Truth. My advice for any reader who disliked the first one is to hold on and push through it, since this one is much improved and is of much higher quality than the first.

"You are my anchor. If you never came into my life, I would forever be floating in darkness." He shook his head, closing his eyes for a moment, collecting himself before he continued.
"Sometimes, you don't realize you're broken until someone brings you the piece that's been missing in your life. You are my missing piece, Princess. Going back to a world that you're not in, is not an option. My life belongs to you."

Michelle Johnson writes another completely awesome book! I absolutely loved the first book, so I am so happy that I was able to read the second. The Oleah Chronicles: Justice is full of action and secrets! Definitely secrets! Yes, Angel and her family have their secrets... but soon we find out that Julie has a secret of her own as well. All I can tell you is that it is not a very good one!

We get to meet more of the people of Uforika and get to see more of the place Angel and her family are from. We also see Zander's relationship with Angel's parents change. You will have to read this book for yourself to find out if it is for the better or for the worse. One thing I noticed and really enjoyed about this book is that Michelle included the archangels! Along with the angels, she also included Lucifer, who makes an appearance in this book.

Michelle's writing is so enchanting and magical! I am absolutely dying to read the third book! The end of the second book starting getting extremely intense and left me craving the third book. This is a spectacular series and everyone needs to add these books to their TBR!

In the first book Angel finds out that she is Oleah. In this book the battle is brought to her when her best friend Julie is taken and it becomes her job to rescue her and end the terror that Sindrell plans to inflict. From a daring rescue to a hopeful then horrible aftermath, this book tells a story full of magic, evil, and power.

I really love Angel. She finds her new life as an Oleah a bit of an obstacle, but she quickly finds her true self and becomes amazing in her new life. Normal isn't a reality for her anymore. She is now a Princess and it is left to her to save her people. She has the power and she knows how to use it. She is a person to be admired.

This book was really good. It was very fast paced and very well written. It was a very easy read because it was full of action and fantasy. Great book to continue a great series....Stormi

3.5 stars!

Angel is dealing with a lot of things. Her best friend has been kidnapped by Sindrell, she must make important decisions, and her whole world has been turned upside down. I really admired how Angel handled everything. She matured a lot in this book, and she remained strong.

I also really liked Zander in this book. He proved himself to be loyal to Angel. It would have been nice if there were more Zander and Angel moments. This wouldn’t be a problem to alot of people, but I’m a hopeless romantic. It did make me savor every sweet moment between them, so that’s an upside!

Julie was so annoying. I hated her. Her sarcasm and her sassy attitude wasn’t funny at all. Ugh.

That ending definitely surprised me. I cannot wait to see what happens next!

I really enjoyed the first one, and was really anxious to see what happened next, and there honestly wasn’t a lot. Julie gets away from Sindrell from the help of Angel and Zander, but then Sindrell just happens to bite her right before she gets killed by Angel. Hmm. We know something will stem from this, but I didn’t think that Julie would hate Angel. It kind of made me sad, honestly...

The first book, Oleah Chronicles: Truth holds a very special place in my heart because of the characters. I like Angel. The relationship between Angel and the others around her especially her best friend, Julie (Jewls) feels authentic because of their crazy, natural banter about almost everything.

Their friendship takes the centrestage in this second book Oleah Chronicles: Justice where it is put to the test. Angel has to save Julie from Sindrell, the villainess. I can't help it but think of Sindrell like the evil Queen in the movie Snow White and the Huntsman, but I think that Sindrell was too easily defeated. In the beginning, it seems like Angel is invincible and the story is going nowhere because of course, Angel is going to win and defeat Sindrell... cue *yawn. But the author has something else up her sleeve and I'm glad for it because towards the end, it gets more interesting. Julie who starts at being annoying, becomes rational and sane when she first woke up in the hospital then later, becomes deliciously evil. I can't wait for what happens next in the next book but I'm still rooting for Julie to be alive at the end of the very end.

The storyline in the beginning was pretty mundane but I stick to reading it and I'm glad I did because finally, Angel has to face some challenge where it involves her best friend's life. Overall, a breezy read and the storyline was okay but it gets better at the end. The romance was sweet. I hope that the author ties up everything well in the next book and give the series a banging end!

Recommended for those who is looking for a light, breezy read, and who loves YA.

Author Michelle Johnson is back with the next installment of the Oleah Chronicles. Oleah Chronicles Justice is another amazing young adult fantasy/paranormal novel. And unlike some young adult novels, there are edgy moments between Angel and Zander, but the romance never overshadowed the plot. The intense action filled moments are also well done. They are so vividly depicted that I can only imagine this series playing out on the screen.

In this second installment of the Oleah Chronicles, it begins with training day as Angel learns discipline and self-control, before taking on Sindrell, the most powerful sorceress, in an attempt to save her friend, Julie, and all of humanity. Johnson does an amazing job of bringing the reader into the moment with the depiction of the emotional turmoil that Angel experiences and the action sequences throughout the novel. Read More
