A sexy bear, a stubborn she-wolf, and a very cozy den.
It’s a stormy winter’s night in the mountains, and she-wolf Jessica Macks is desperate to find shelter. So desperate, she’ll even settle for an unoccupied bear den, despite all the warnings she’s heard about her pack’s mysterious neighbors. It doesn’t take long before unwanted company in the form of bear shifter Simon Voss comes lumbering in. The two can let out their claws and fight, or they can lower their defenses and keep each other warm. But the instinct to survive isn’t the only force at work in that cozy den — destiny is, too. Before Jessica and Simon know it, they’re cuddled together in human form and letting warm heat right over to hot as they give in to temptation for the very first time.
A standalone, SHORT STORY prequel to Damnation, Book 1 in the Blue Moon Saloon series. No cliffhangers!
USA Today and Amazon best-selling author Anna Lowe loves putting the "hero" back into heroine and letting location ignite a passionate romance. She likes a heroine who is independent, intelligent, and imperfect — a woman who's doing just fine on her own. But give the heroine a good man (not to mention a chance to overcome her own inhibitions) and she'll never turn down the chance for adventure, nor shy away from danger.
On any given weekend, you might find her hiking in the mountains or hunched over her laptop, working on her latest story. Either way, the day will end with a chunk of dark chocolate and a good read.
Perfection is the prequel to the Blue Moon Saloon series.
Does it have to be read first. No. It’s a very short story that features our main characters from Damnation - Bonus Edition, Simon and Jessica, it's their first meeting.
This is an insta love thing, destiny. They know they are mates the moment they meet, but their are several obstacles for them to over come; before they can be together. Here they spend two days together, snowed in, getting all hot and heavy with each other. Their is a little foreshadowing, that even though they have found each other their future will be a ruff one, before they get their happy-ever-after.
The story was just ok for me. It was nice to see their first meet, but really not necessary to know before going into Damnation or the the Blue Moon Saloon series. For fans of Ms. Lowe and her shifters, it’s a nice treat.
Rated: 3 Stars

Perfection: a short story prequel Blue Moon Saloon by Anna Lowe ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ OMG! I Read this book without moving and I loved it. It's another 5 star book for Anna Lowe, she is a auto buy for me. Yes, she's that good. So when she gave me this book I had a lot of other books to read but I couldn't help myself I was so excited. I of course did it backward I read books 1-3 first Sorry. But since I had and I enjoyed them so much, I knew I was in for a topsy turvey emotional ride. And I wasn't disappointed. I loved this story. Anna Lowe takes two characters and weaves a love story that builds to a HEA and its wholly believable. It's funny and poignant and super sexy. Everything I want in my paranormal romance novels. When the book came to its end I wasn't ready for it too, so I had to read books 1-3 again. Yes, they are that good. I bought it hook, line, and sinker. I loved Anna Lowe's characters. Their chemistry is so palpable from the moment they first saw each other, but I must say Anna Lowe is the master of the slow-burn, she can draw it out for us and make you enjoy the wait. I adored everything about this book. It's a high-five, and Oh yeah a must read recommendation! If you love paranormal romance, go, get your copy. Anna Lowe is a creative, innovative, enthralling author. Her storylines are so believable. She builds stories that providing amazing details that flesh out and enhance the story. This is a short sweet story, it's well written has a great pace and it flows well and it gives you everything you would get from a book four times its size in pages, that what I love about her books short sweet or long and totally involved you will enjoy it. Now I love this part of my review I give you a small taste to show you what I enjoyed the most when I read the story.
Excerpt From: Perfection: a short story prequel Blue Moon Saloon by Anna Lowe This material is protected by copyright Not this one, a naughty voice in the back of her mind said. This one you’d love to tangle with. Tangle, tango, touch… She backed up even more quickly, shaking her head. What was wrong with her? The second her haunches were exposed to the bitter cold outside, she stopped. That den was her only means of survival. Her last chance. And anyway, she had to be the only shifter crazy enough to be out in this storm, right? When she stepped back into the shelter, her body nearly sighed, and not just from the switching-off effect that had on the whipping wind. She peered into the darkness. If she’d been in human form, she’d have whispered into the low cave. Anybody home? Simon tried not to stare. He really did. But every nerve in his body seemed to pulse with a dozen mixed messages at the same time. Kiss her. Kill her. Lick her. Take her. Throw her out. Touch her. Talk to her. Make her mine. Which meant he had no hope in hell of getting his eyes to stop bugging out any time soon. No hope of doing anything but standing very, very still. Mate. Mine. Mine! his bear roared inside. A good thing that message didn’t slip out, because he’d deafen the both of them with the force of that roar. Breathe in. Breathe out, he ordered himself. Breathe deeply and quit scaring her.
This isn't the whole story by far but believe me, you will love and feel the compassion for them as both characters meet their destiny together to love and overcome their problems it's AWESOME!! Once again Anna Lowe has done a SPECTACULAR JOB!! This will be a great choice for your TBR list. I'm always excited to read what Anna Lowe writes next. I Highly recommend this book and the series. I give Anna Lowe, my highest complement I would buy her books whenever they are release. I know every book isn't for everyone so If this isn't the kind of book or genre you like to read, skip this book. However, if you're a fan of all things naughty, sexual tension, action and humor, this will be perfect for you. Anna is a fantastic writer.
If you believe in the world of paranormal romance, the possibilities are endless and fascinating!
I loved this short story prequel to Damnation that I just read because I learned how Simon and Jessica met. Talk about love at first sight! I am convinced that the animal in the human is smarter, it usually takes the human a while longer to realize what the beast knows right away.
The love and passion is instantenious, these two love birds have no doubt that destiny brought them together and together they will fight all odds to be together in a time when inter breading was frowned upon. Simon is a bear shifter and Jessica is a wolf shifter, but nothing can stand in their way, or can it?
Now I can comprehend more about Damnation. Read these books you will fall in love with the characters.
This is a short story of 65 pages and is the prequel to the Blue moon Saloon series. Jessica Macks a she wolf is desperate to find shelter as a winter storm is blowing, she decides an old bear den will do. Bear shifter Simon Voss has decided to do the same thing they can either fight for who gets to stay or share. What happens? I was gifted a copy for an honest review barwatts@telus.net
ABSOLUTELY FABULOUS !!! Title: Perfection Series: Blue Moon Saloon Author: Anna Lowe Designation: Series Prequel Short Story, Not Recommended As A Standalone Paranormal Romance, No Cliffhanger Per Se but this short story is not intended to be read as a standalone. However, it does have HFN Ending (which eventually becomes HEA five years later in Book One of the Series, Damnation, but only after considerable conflict and angst. lol...) Reading Platform: Kindle & Audiobook Editions My Rating: FIVE DIVINELY ENTERTAINING STARS*****
I adore paranormal romance, and no one does it better than Anna Lowe! I've been a fan of Lowe's work for several years and enjoy everything she writes, but the Blue Moon Saloon Series has become my new favorite! I became officially hooked two years ago after reading Desert Moon, the first release in Lowe's The Wolves of Twin Moon Ranch Series and have followed her work since. I've been a lover of the written word for over 60 years and during that time, I've read an incalculable number of books, written by a diverse collection of talented authors. So when I say Anna Lowe is one of my favorites, that's quite a recommendation. It's a little hard to explain but I'll try. Lowe is what I like to call a triple threat. lol... I know, it sounds a little ominous but it's really not. You see, some authors are stronger in certain aspects of the process than others. They may have a great idea for a book or series but have difficulties developing the story and translating their thoughts to written words, while some may be good with words and story development but lack creativity and ideas. Lowe can create it, develop it, and write it, but Lowe's talent doesn't stop there. She's not only a truly gifted storyteller and skilled wordsmith, she's also one of the most reliable authors in the romance genre today, consistently penning unique and highly imaginative storylines, set in vividly depicted worlds, populated with fascinating characters who will surely capture your imagination as well as your heart. Lowe's books are all well crafted and well edited with beautiful covers. And Perfection is no exception! But as usual I digress, especially when I talk about my favorite authors, so let's discuss a few details about the story itself.
Perfection is a gripping, fast-paced, well-crafted paranormal romance filled to the brim with danger, drama, angst, fiery passion, steamy sex, dreamy romance, laugh-out-loud humor, and in this particular scenario, we have Mother Nature and a dangerous snowstorm as our antagonist. The narrative is beautifully written in the third person with his and her perspectives. The dialogue is smart, snappy, well executed and flows effortlessly. But hands down, my favorite component of every Lowe story is her cast of relatable characters. I found them to be intriguing, engaging, well developed, and at times, hilarious. I was immediately smitten with the two protagonists, beautiful, plucky she-wolf Jessica 'Jess' Macks and handsome, burly bear-shifter Simon Voss. These two could not have been more different but complemented each other perfectly, and together were an absolute riot. I sniffed, snorted, and giggled through the entire book. There were quite a few times, I wanted to give Simon and Jess a swift kick in the butt but by the end, I was happy, satisfied and more than ready to dive into Damnation, the first book of the series. Did I like this book? No, I LOVED it! Would I recommend it? You bet and I am but for adult readers only since it does contain some steamy, dreamy love scenes! Will I read this author again? Absolutely! I've already purchased Damnation and Temptation, the first and second book of the series, and can hardly wait to dive in! And finally, was I entertained? Completely! Fabulous entertainment and an awesome read!
Two enemies thrown together by chance and forced to ignore their natural instincts in order to survive but soon discover they have more in common than either ever dreamed possible. No spoilers from me but I will say this... A beautiful, strong she-wolf trying to survive-check! A handsome, bear shifter forced to share his den-check! Mother Nature and one heck of a snowstorm-check! Fiery passion, steamy sex, and sweet romance-you bet! That and a whole lot more, including a very important lesson.... Don't rely on your grandmother's weather forecasting skills! lol....
Jessica was out walking the woods, when a snowstorm blinded her and even though she was in her wolf form, she is totally lost and about to freeze to death. She relies on the teachings of the pack and searches for the alee side of the mountains where the snow will be less strong. She pokes her wolf nose down in the snow and sniffs a rotted log that smells like other rotted logs she knows. Jessica falls into frozen snow up to her hips more than once and her body just wants to sleep. She pushes on and finally feels less wind and she starts trying to poke her snout between rocks until she finally finds an opening. When she enters a small cave, she smells bear, but she still continues in slowly, while growling loudly. The cave is empty and she is so cold and tired she rolls into a ball in the hay bedding against the wall. A short time later Simon comes into his cave in his bear form. They look at each other and Jessica growls deeply and says stupid bear in her head, and Simon answers her back. they are sharing telepathy which only works among packs and never between different types of shifters. She is blaming her wolf, who led her here and told her mate, mate, mate. Simon's bear has been saying the same thing. The fates have made them mates, But how can a wolf be mated to a bear, and since they are both the Alpha children of their leaders, what the hell is going to happen?
Great story about a wolf and a bear shifters Romance
This book is a prequal to Damnation written by the author. Simon and Jessica meet during a blizzard at a cave at Simon frequent. They realize that as unlikely as it is they are mates. After loving each other we are left with a cliffhanger.
The characters of Simon and Jessica are stubborn, giddy with excitement of the mating fervor, uncertain of the future, and sexy. It is someone emotional book about the feelings of the fated mated pair. This gives a glimpse into their past. It is recommended to read this before the book Damnation. I enjoyed this and recommend this book.
This is a short story about how Jessica and Simon meet. Their full story is in the first full length book of this series, Damnation. I enjoyed seeing Jessica and Simon meeting, and it made me want to read Damnation again. Jessica is on a run in her wolf form when a storm comes in, so she needs to find shelter. She just so happens to find an empty bear den. Bears and wolves don't mix, but Jessica doesn't have a choice. When the bear shifter returns to his den, some unexpected things occur. Jessica shows her feisty side! Love the chemistry between Simon and her! Sweet read :-)
Since I'd read Blue Moon Saloon some time ago, in whch one of the women has a history with a man who turns up, something to do, obviously, with her being a wolf shifter and he a bear, but what had happened when they knew each other before wasn't made clear, so it was interesting to get this prequel free from Anna Lowe through her newsletter. However, it was mostly about the sex they had whilst "getting to know" each other so, not exactly great reading, but I always like to know the full story so I was glad to get it free

“Perfection”, prequel to the 'Blue Moon Saloon' series, is short, sweet, and sexy. Wolf Shifter Jessica Macks is lost in the middle of an unexpected snow storm. The only shelter she can find is in a cave which is normally home to Bear Shifter Simon Voss. Luckily he's not at home, at least not at first. When they do meet it is instant 'Mate! Mate! Mate!' for both of them. It's going to take a couple of days for the storm to die down - what can they possibly do to keep them occupied? They become very, very occupied! Now all they have to do is to tell their Packs! 3 Stars.
I discovered Anna Lowe through her Serendipity Adventure books and thought I'd give one of her free shifter stories a chance. (shrug) thinking maybe I'd enjoy the quick read... Well, I was immediately intrigued and then hooked! I'm glad I gave it a chance and I look forward to getting more of Simon and Jessica's story.
I'm beginning to think that AL is one of the authors who'll no matter what genre she writes in, I'll enjoy her story because of how she writes and can sweep me into her story.
I enjoyed this story. It was a quick read and a nice set up for the next book in the series. We aren't left with a cliffhanger though. I thought this gave us a great connection to the main characters and a great base for the beginning of the series and what the two of them are going to have to go through to make things work.
Downloaded from BookFunnel, an ABSOLUTELY FABULOUS fantasy short, it really had " the feels" I've already read some of this series, but this was a fresh introductory start. Very sweet, and emotional. Written well, with characters that felt alive and believable..
A very cute snowed-in, trapped-together story. So much so that, knowing it will inevitably lead to heartbreak and heartache in the next book, I'm in no hurry to read about it and will postpone reading Damnation for the time being...
Perhaps should I have skipped the prequel entirely (even if I liked it) and read Damnation first?
Great story about a bear/wolf shifter romance. Simon & Jess realize they are mates when they are stuck in his den during a storm, now they have to figure out how to be together. This series should be an interesting read.
This is a very short story of how Jess and Simon meet. It’s a great sweet sexy way to introduce the characters. Looking forward to the rest of the series especially as I’ve got them in audiobook and I absolutely love Kelsey Osborne
