Terry Pratchett's Discworld Coloring Book
Gollancz Digital Publisher, Darren Nash, brought the rights to Terry Pratchett’s Discworld Colouring Book from Rob Wilkins at Narrativia, who own and control the exclusive multimedia and merchandising rights to all of Sir Terry’s works, including his Discworld characters and creations.
Gollancz published the Discworld novels in hardback from Equal Rites (1987) to Jingo (1997) – and recently republished the first twenty-one Discworld novels as cloth-bound hardbacks in its Discworld Collectors Library – and continues to publish a series of bestselling Discworld diaries and calendars.
Darren Nash said ‘This is the perfect mix of fad and phenomenon: adult colouring books and the UK’s bestselling Fantasy series. And the fact that it’s come from Paul and Rob is a guarantee that Sir Terry’s creations will be treated with the respect they deserve.’

If Terry Pratchett’s pen gave his characters life, Paul Kidby’s brush allowed them to live it. He provided the illustrations for The Last Hero, which sold over 300,000 copies, and has designed the covers for the Discworld novels since 2002. He is also the author of the definitive portfolio volume The Art Of Discworld.
Containing black-and-white line drawings based on his hugely popular artwork as well as original pieces produced exclusively for this book, Terry Pratchett’s Discworld Colouring Book features iconic Discworld personalities as Granny Weatherwax, Sam Vimes, Rincewind, Tiffany Aching and, of course, DEATH.

Pratchett's first novel, The Carpet People, was published in 1971. The first Discworld novel, The Colour of Magic, was published in 1983, after which Pratchett wrote an average of two books a year. The final Discworld novel, The Shepherd's Crown, was published in August 2015, five months after his death.
With more than 100 million books sold worldwide in 43 languages, Pratchett was the UK's best-selling author of the 1990s. He was appointed an Officer of the Order of the British Empire (OBE) in 1998 and was knighted for services to literature in the 2009 New Year Honours. In 2001 he won the annual Carnegie Medal for The Amazing Maurice and His Educated Rodents, the first Discworld book marketed for children. He received the World Fantasy Award for Life Achievement in 2010.
In December 2007 Pratchett announced that he had been diagnosed with early-onset Alzheimer's disease. He later made a substantial public donation to the Alzheimer's Research Trust (now Alzheimer's Research UK, ARUK), filmed three television programmes chronicling his experiences with the condition for the BBC, and became a patron of ARUK. Pratchett died on 12 March 2015, at the age of 66.

Genuinely don't know how to rate this, or how to review it. It has great things to colour in, and lovely Discworld things to read. I coloured the title page but never quite got in to the whole colouring in phenomenon.

If you're fan of Terry Pratchett's Discworld series then you're guaranteed to be familiar with Paul Kidby's gorgeous artwork. He has been illustrating the Discworld covers since 2002 and has brought all of our favourite characters to life with his drawings so of course he was the obvious artist of choice for the Discworld Colouring Book.
This colouring book is absolutely stunning and a must have for any Discworld fan. It contains so many iconic images and even in black and white the characters practically leap off the pages. You'll find full page images of Rincewind, Death, Tiffany, Granny Weatherwax and the witches, Vimes and the Night Watch, the Librarian, the Wee Free Men and so many more of your favourite characters within this book.
The paper is a nice thickness and good quality although I can't confirm if pens give you any bleed through because I've only used coloured pencils. My one slight niggle is that a couple of the double page spreads ruin the image a little by splitting the page right through the middle of a character, it's nearly impossible to colour right up to the middle edge so you're left with characters who have a gap down the centre of their face. This isn't an issue on most of the pages though so I'm not going to mark it down because of that.
Towards the end of the book you'll even find full colour images of some of Paul Kidby's most well known images, I almost want to cut some of them out and frame them so I expect I'll be buying a second copy of the book before too long. Those images are also included in the book for you to colour so you can either copy the colour scheme from the original artwork or try out something completely different.
I've included a couple of the pictures that I've finished so far to give you an idea of some of the images included and I'll probably come back to this review to add more as I finish colouring them.

I was astounded by the detail and the depth of this colouring book. I have seen mindful colouring books before, but this is a whole new level. A dedicated illustrator who has spent 15 years with material crafts a very awesome colouring book.

Fun to re-read the quotes some of which I remember and some that were "new". Not sure if I will ever actually color in it. Only annoyed because some of the pictures span two pages which is not great for coloring even with the fact that the visual “repeats” in the fold.

Paul Kidby was Terry's favourite illustrator for the Discworld books from 2002, and in this book he has reworked the illustrations into line drawings, along with some originals, for us to colour. Pratchett says of Kidby - "this is the closest anyone's got to how I see the characters."
The images cover many of the favourite characters from this series - Granny Weatherwax, Sam Vimes, Archchancellor Ridcully, Rincewind, Tiffamy Aching and Death. Many of the images are accompanied by relevant text from the books. Several images have borders and there are only two double page wallpaper spreads which is a relief.
Line width is fine to medium throughout and there is a consistency through the book because only one artist has put this together. Some images are more detailed than others but not impossibly so. A couple of images have black backgrounds which is always a plus.

SUCH A BEAUTIFUL BOOK!
If you are a Discworld fan -like me- this is a book you should buy. All our beloved characters are there.
Paul Kidby was Pratchett's artist of choice, so you can be sure his artwork is absolutly wonderful.
Inside the book you will find Discworld's quotes on one side and a drawing on the other side of the page, both sides are for coloring though. Also, you get some full color pages with Kidby's artwork.
I loved it!
