This book of human interest stories from the New York Times was "simplified" first as children's bedtime stories and then "simplified" for this collection. The result is kind of a Reader's Digest version of the Times. Nonetheless, the book's first story (the rescue of a homeless man) is worth the price of the book.

I read this collection of stories to help determine their potential use as a classroom resource. The short pieces are fine examples of journalistic writing. Great examples of stories about events and people--inspiring, amusing, and moving.
