It was alright; Both Bobby and Angela have serious emotional/relationship problems. Bobby is an average guy, [one with no emotions!] and Angela is an average woman, aside the good looks and athleticyness. Angela wants something from Bobby, but she won't tell Bobby what, and she becomes increasingly upset. Bobby doesn't know what Angela wants, and gets frustrated and doesn't want her to leave him. Funny in some areas, serious in some, and sorta repetative, I rate this book 3 stars!

Didn't like the h in between the way she treated H when he was trying to atlast open up and it felt as though she didn't know what she wanted. I was pleasantly surprised with the plot line. There were a lot of surprising twists and turns especially towards the end. Though it was leading upto it, the twists continued to come along to punch up the plot better.

This book has been on my to-read list longer than any other book, I'll bet. I remember shelving this on the paperback rack at the library where I worked in high school and thinking it looked fun. I forgot all about it (the paper copy of my to-read list that I kept in my mailbox at work is long gone) until about 2005 when Mr. and Mrs. Smith came out, and it made me think of this book. By then I'd forgotten the title and author and everything, until this year when some creative Googling turned it up and I recognized the cover instantly. Suffice is to say that this book had years worth of anticipation working against it.

I did enjoy the book quite a bit. I expected it to be funny, and it wasn't really. I expected it to be suspenseful, and it wasn't really until the end. I expected there to be lots of sex, but the one scene is what I like to call the "fade to black" variety. So basically, it wasn't what I was expecting at all. However, I found the characters to jump off the page, both Bobby and Angela as well as their charge, the president's mother. The dialogue was good, as was the chemistry between the characters. I felt like I was in the house with them for a large part of the book. It's a good story, just don't expect too much humor or too much suspense or the traditional type of romance novel, and you'll enjoy it, I think.

Well, as long as it was sitting here on top of my to read stack (which is now measured in feet rather than number of books) I figured I'd give it a go. I'm glad I did. A contemporary romance with no sex and lots of emotion and I still liked it. Go figure. Special Agents Bobby and Angela Holland work for the Secret Service. The husband and wife team has been separated for nearly a year when they are forced to work together to protect the mother of the President. He's emotionally closed off. She's tired of being left out in the cold. Parts were reminiscent of Guarding Tess, but mostly was its own story. Even if parts of the story were fairly preposterous, the emotion rang true. I still wanted to smack both of them a time or two, but it is not just characters in books that do or say stupid things. Maybe that's what I liked. A solid 3.5 stars.

Quite entertaining--Bobby and Angela are secret service agents, separated nearly a year ago. He's the quintessential buttoned-up man's man--stiff-upper-lip, never let them see you sweat, never mind cry kind of guy. Angela comes from a boisterous, emotive Italian family, and while Bobby's reticence initially appealed to her, she feels emotionally shut out by his inability to share his feelings with her.

They are working on opposite coasts when they are pulled for an undercover assignment posing as a married household help for the president's mother. A great cast of secondary characters and a solid plot helped keep my interest throughout.

I did get slightly frustrated with Bobby and Angela's basic issue, but Ms. McBride handles in a way that felt relatively fresh and the story as a whole was a fun read.

Definitely interested in reading more of Ms. McBride's work.

I read this book several years ago, but enjoyed it so much that I have read it a few more times than I thought I would. It's a well written mystery with just the right touch of romance and humor. It's rather light fare but worth the time and effort to read.
