Hi, I'm Liz Fielding, and I'm a best selling contemporary romance author with more than 15 million books in print and Katie Fforde wrote, when honouring me with the Romantic Novelists' Association's Outstanding Achievement Award in 2019 said - "Liz Fielding's books, with their warmth, humour and emotion, have charmed millions of readers. She is a true star of the romantic fiction genre..."
And now I've turned to a life of crime with my first cozy mystery. Murder Among the Roses, published on 18 April 2023 - of which Katie Fforde also said, "I was gripped from beginning to end..."
Reading is a big part of my life. I love witty, contemporary romances, not too much sex,, Women's fiction by the likes of Fiona Harper, Julie Cohen, Susan Elizabeth Phillips, Jennifer Crusie and Barbara O'Neal. And I love crime fiction that isn't too gory, or focussed on clue hunting, but is big on character.
My best loved series at the moment are the Ruth Galloway series by Elly Griffiths, The Rivers of London series by Ben Aaronovitch and the Libby Sarjeant Mysteries by Lesley Cookman. I've just read the first in the Georgina Drake crime series from Kate Hardy and looking forward to the next.

This was one of the first older brother's best friend trope romance novels I ever read when I was younger, and it still remains one of my favorite books I've ever read and will continually come back to reread.
**SPOILERS BEGIN** Robert is the perfect oblivious and (affectionately) stupid man, who has always sworn off marriage and told his string of girlfriends of his intentions from the beginning. And inevitably when the relationships end, he goes to his best friend's little sister Daisy, who he's known his whole life and he also considers his best friend as well, to moan and bitch about his breakups.
Meanwhile, Daisy is desperately in love with him, always has been and always will be, and she can't take it anymore. So, she's going to start making herself less available to Robert. Following through on this plan, she skips going to dinner either him before s mutual friends party, telling him to pick her up at ten, and she dresses herself up for a change and lies even Robert asks her why she skipped dinner.
Not believing her, and getting jealous at the attention she's receiving from another man at the party, he jumps to conclusions and believes she's having an affair.
Amidst all of this, Daisy's older brother Michael is getting married, and Daisy has been unwillingly roped into being a bridesmaid while Robert is obviously the best man, and Robert, worried about Daisy, brings up his concerns to his friend when he realizes Daisy avoids answering his questions. Micheal, the all knowing good brother he is, tells Robert Daisy has been in love with a man forever but marriage is not an option, saying no more as to who the man is when Robert asks if he knows the man 🤭
And Robert yet again draws the wrong conclusion, thinking she has a love or is having an affair.
So consumed by the idea of his best friend Daisy being in love with someone else, Robert fails to see the obvious fact that it's him, and the book is just so good as it follows the two of them, with Daisy hiding how she feels and deciding she needs to move on while not realizing that Robert is falling in love with her while he tries to solve the mystery of who she's in love with aka him! **SPOILERS END**
The tension between the two of these characters is magnificent, and so is the history and the banter, and the ending is just absolutely perfect! I never stop smiling or laughing when reading this, and I just love this book oh so much!! ❤️
