On a mountain hike with her best friend, and soon-to-be bride Amanda Rainer, Victoria Armstrong feels like she has a chance to get some fresh air and relax from her hectic job running Café Spring Hopes. That is until fate pulls her on a different path.

Victoria never met this woman alive but stumbling upon her dead body changes everything.

Still getting over the recent death of her father and the dark secrets she unveiled about the Town Mayor’s death, Victoria is determined to find out who this new killer is.

Larch Hot Springs’ reputation as a tourist town is hanging in the balance. Unsolved murders are not good for business.

But asking too many probing questions might just be her downfall as she faces an unexpected villain in this fast-paced tale of betrayal, jealousy, and intrigue.

I didn't see it coming

A quick read but with a strong plot. The characters were well defined and believable. A surprise finish for the reader.

Knowing fashion can be a killer

A good read. Our heroine has unfurled like a flower since settling down to life with her children and her sister in the small community. However a themed party that has a fight leads to the murder of a mysterious woman in the red coat.
Who is the woman and now another death has followed as well as the theft of a valuable painting. Then two more follow swiftly. With relationships strained between her and the police officer she tries to make the clues add up. Which is the most important action - one of the murders or the theft? Can she work it out before the killer thinks she's too dangerous to allow to live?
Nice plot, a bit devious but well constructed.

This was a strangely written story. The characters are fascinating, the plot is meandering with lots of "red herrings" thrown out, and the premise is finding the murderer before more people are killed. This also had another unusual ending. I can recommend this book though.

Trail Mix Murder is the second in the Cozy Mystery in the Mountains series by Liz Turner. This can be read as a stand alone book. In the first book, Victoria has returned home and is now starting to settle into her cafe and catering business. In what seems like a previous life, she had been married to a true crime novelist, but he died and that is part of the reason she packed up her kids and brought them back to her home town. In this story, Victoria's best friend is getting married. Victoria is also commissioned to cater a major event at the fabulous LeeLee's home. The next day, One of the guests that attended the event is found dead. The day after that, LeeLee is also found dead, as well a very expensive painting has gone missing. Victoria puts on her crime solving thinking cap, and together she and Corporal Jager work to resolve the mystery - but not before two more people show up dead and another life has been endangered. The Story is a light and easy read. Even with all of the deaths, it is not gory in detail. Full of twists and surprises, this book is one that you will want to read.

I really like this series. I enjoy the characters and the mysteries. These are very short cozy mysteries which sometimes I like something quick and easy to read. I am looking forward to reading the third one in this series. The author writes many other series and I might try one of the others as well.

This one was really great. It was full of ups and downs. It really kept me guessing. I can't wait to read book 3.

Disclosure: I received this book free of charge from the publisher. This review is my honest opinion, and is in no way influenced by the author or publisher.
