A shocking fertility clinic mix-up has resulted in Luca Moretti fathering a child with a woman he's never met. There's no way the CEO will walk away from his baby girl. But he has thirty days to convince her distractingly beautiful mother to do exactly what he wants.
Widow Claire Douglas is still reeling from the loss of her husband when she discovers a stranger has fathered her child. And the rich bachelor will stop at nothing to gain joint custody. How can she possibly fight a man with such money and power...and a charm she can't resist?
Andrea Laurence has been a lover of reading and writing stories since she learned to read at a young age. She always dreamed of seeing her work in print and is thrilled to finally be able to share her special blend of sensuality and dry, sarcastic humor with the world. A dedicated West Coast girl transplanted into the Deep South, she's working on her own "happily ever after" with her new husband and a golden retriever puppy.
I am all about some single parent books, especially a single dad, so naturally I saw this title and had to read it. This one actually features a single mother who discovers the fertility clinic swapped her deceased husband’s sperm for another’s.
Claire’s husband has just died and she also discovered he was having an affair. She is accepting things and learning how to be a single parent when Luca Moretti enters her life. Luca is a billionaire and the accidental biological father of her daughter. Claire and Luca must come to an agreement on how to proceed and decide spending a month getting to know each other is best.
So no, this story isn’t super realistic, but that didn’t take away from my enjoyment. It was a super quick read, at times cheesy, but always entertaining. It didn’t have an epic love story or give me huge feels, but I enjoyed it regardless. If you are a fan of single parent books, I think you will enjoy it, too!

This hero was really, REALLY dishonest and his intentions were extremely dishonourable.
He intended to lie to the heroine about loving her so she’d marry him so that they wouldn’t have to have a custody battle or he wouldn’t have to disappoint someone with fertility issue and as he believes both of them are infertile.
He was going to deliberately fake being in love with the heroine because he knows that she’s not the kind to settle for MOC and hide facts about his ex or cancer or fertility. Who does that? Specially when he demanded she share her secrets and he KNOWS her husband cheated on her and honesty is a huge deal for her? Also no one has the right to get into a relationship by hiding significant facts such as cancer or fertility issues. One has the right to make informed decisions even if it’s shallow and since they were NOT in love it wouldn’t actually be shallow if she decided to bail. And one has the right to know about an ex if they are going to be significantly effected by their actions in future which the heroine invariably was.
Hero. Was. Dishonest. He never redeemed himself or owned up to his scheming or mistakes.
Then he called heroine a slut, a cheater AND a gold digger. The woman who actually requested for the child support to be reduced! Then he accused her of trying to trap him when HE was trying to trap HER all along. She was right.
“You’d rather throw away everything we have, accuse me of being a whore and a liar than face the reality of your condition.” “Why would I be scared to do that? The worst they can tell me is what I already know.” “No, it’s not. The worst thing they can tell you is that you’ve been wrong all this time. Because then you’d have to come to terms with the fact that you’ve been living half a life for all these years for no reason. You’d know for certain that you wasted over a decade where you could’ve found someone to love and started a family instead of being Mr. Busy CEO all the time. You’ve been hiding behind your desk instead of living your life.”
And after all that, after rejecting her AND their child, he actually didn’t trust her. He went to her not based on faith and trust. But based on medical evidence that he can father a child. He went to her AFTER he had proof of his fertility. Not BEFORE. So yeah, nah. Of course he trusts her. Because there isn’t a way for him not to trust her. That is not called trusting, this is called “knowing the truth”. Trusting would have been if he went to her BEFORE getting the proof and apologising for the vile words.
Even after ALL that there was ZERO apology let alone grovelling. Heroine had to actually say it out loud very slowly for him that he needs to say sorry, in English, Italian and sign language, before he caught up. As far as the grovelling goes. THAT’S IT. He has his lawyer present. She has two kids to think about. As far as extended family goes, she has NOTHING to offer! He’s giving up custody, only wants visitation rights meaning she’d still see him. Tell me WHAT option SHE had apart from forgiving him? But him? He didn’t even say fucking sorry on his own! And did I say their was zero, like ZERO grovelling?
Yeah, I’m pissed! We needed his mother in the last scene to at least physically hit him!

This was an interesting read about a subject that has affected many people who have depended on fertility clinics and cryo banks to preserve sperm and embryos for the hope of a future pregnancy. This one had a twist and it was interesting to see how these two worked through the unexpected news.
Claire Douglas and her husband had not been successful in starting a family and decided to go through fertility treatments. She finally conceived through artificial means, but in her fifth month of pregnancy her husband was killed in a car accident. She received some devastating news involving the crash and after her daughter’s birth more troubling news was delivered. There had been a mix up at the clinic and her deceased husband was not the biological father of her child.
Luca Moretti was shocked when he was informed his sperm had been inadvertently used in a pregnancy and subsequent child. His samples had been stored at the clinic since he was a teen and had gone through an illness, his mother wanting to preserve his chance at fatherhood. Luca wants to be in his daughter’s life regardless of the way it came about but Claire is not having any of that. She is determined to have her daughter to herself and doesn’t seem to understand that the child is as much his as it is hers.
I loved Luca’s and Claire’s journey and highly recommend you read this book.
Claire wanted a family but what she got was a dead husband and the wrong batch of sperm. Sounds interesting right?
For Luca Moretti, he gave up the dream of ever having a family until now. When he learns of the clinic mix up, he’s not going to just stand by and lose out on the chance to be a father. But convincing a complete stranger to trust him with their daughter is not going to be easy. With just a month before they go back to court to sort out custody. Luca takes Claire and the baby on a month long beach vacation so she can see his abilities to be a father first hand, the only problem... she stands zero chance against his charms when he decides that the best solution for them both is to become a family.
This was a fun little read – with a very unique storyline. I love accidental babies and rich CEOs with issues, so what’s not to love about this, right?
Although it was very low drama/angst – it was still a quick fun read. I loved that there were more issues going on beyond just the clinic issues, it added a bit more to the story and loved how quickly Luca was wrapped around his little girl’s finger.
Holy cow! Could you just imagine? Laurence had definitely drawn the fates out with this one, creating a premise that’s so completely captivating that I couldn’t put this one down for a moment. This intricately crafted plot combines love, loss, renewal, and learning to trust again. The combination was highlighted by the realistic emotions throughout, drawing me further and further into the world. I love how Laurence writes drama without being overly dramatic.
This plot is backed up with some phenomenal characters. I love how they were developed. The way that they lived their lives was so real, yet at the same time separate from how I live my daily life. They were also so approachable. I love reading about individuals that I want to see succeed. I felt completely invested in their lives by the end of the novel.
All in all this was a completely unforgettable tale. Laurence had me engaged on multiple levels throughout with characters that I truly wanted to know and telling a story beyond anything I could have ever imagined.

This is a surprisingly sweet story. Claire is a recent widow with a child conceived through a fertility clinic as she and her husband had difficulties. The joy of finally falling pregnant was tainted when her husband died in a car accident with a woman who turned out to be his mistress.
Luca comes from a large Italian family where babies are a big thing. But not for him. A bout of cancer in his teens has put doubt on his fertility. All he has is a couple of sperm samples taken prior to his treatment. And now one of those samples has been used by mistake for a stranger.
There is a lot of potential for conflict in the situation and Claire especially is fighting against Luca's claim on her beloved Eva. In one way, she has lost her faithless husband all over again, and his family are no longer interested in Eva. So her baby is all the has.
What she doesn't realise, is what a miracle her little girl is for Luca, who had decided he would never have children, or even a relationship with a woman.
Desperate to work something out with the mother of his child, Luca arranged a holiday together as a family, so Claire can get to know him and realise he can be trusted with Eva. Thrown together for weeks at a secluded estate in the Hamptons, it was a chance to build some kind of relationship between them.
This was a lovely story about two people who had lost faith in relationships and for Luca, who had denied a future for himself. Eva is the catalyst to bring them together and help them see the possibilities. A lovely story with a satisfying ending. We also get to meet people from her previous books.
Claire has wanted a child but had hard time conceiving so she and her husband went to a clinic to help her out. Little she did expect to get the wrong sperm. Now she's living life with her child, a bit more guarded since the death of that husband and his mistress, and now a CEO is trying to claim rights to her child. The deal is for them to spend time together for a month and see how things go. It's supposed to be a moments of bonding between the child and him but can't help but feel drawn to the mother too.
I liked this story , it was short, steamy and entertaining. I really liked his family and how the characters turned out. I liked the story it was well written.. I loved the connection between the two. I liked that even if this story was short there was a bit of a backstory to really develop the characters and make their choices easier to understand. Overall I really enjoyed this book.

MY RATING: 4/5
WHY I LIKED IT…
HELLO? I freaking love babies and billionaires. It’s a freaking weakness I have because you’re the boss at work but you’re a total sucker for the small toddler that is totally having fun spitting up on your shirt. I really enjoyed this book despite having some doubts about the story line in the very beginning. For example, what are the odds that your late husband’s sperm didn’t impregnate you and it was someone else’s and then you fall in love with them afterwards??? It left so much up to fate. This whole book is actually based on it and it was a giant puzzle where pieces kept clicking together so perfectly.
However, while it did click perfectly, I still never fully bought it. I wrote it off that it’s a story and for the purpose of harlequin novels, stories do need to be exaggerated and heavily laced with flair and drama. Okay, so what else did I like? The baby. Eva was described to be this gorgeous dark haired beauty with olive skin and big grey eyes. Like squeaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaal. I want to snuggle with a baby like that all day. And Luca, her father, carrying her while making pancakes? Can I please be Claire?
Author Andrea Laurence is on a roll with this novel The CEO’s Unexpected Child. This captivating story will draw you in from page one, so prepared to be blown away on an emotional storm. I couldn’t put this book down. With a well-woven plot, great dialogue, descriptive prose, raw emotions and enough drama to sustain the story, this novel is sure to keep you engrossed. The characters are not cheesy, but rather likable and their back-stories are interwoven in such a way that it doesn’t overpower the romance at all. The many pains Claire Douglas faced made me cheer for her when she conceived a baby. But the reality that ensued next took me a while to swallow. I was so shocked with the truth about her baby’s father. On the other hand, CEO Luca Moretti didn’t win me over at first glance. I thought he paraded his chauvinism too much. In the end however, as he and Claire came to terms with the reality of their relationship I began to like him mostly because I thought him to be a redeemed man who treated Claire the way she deserved. Overall, this intense yet captivating story will take you on an emotional ride and have you rooting for the characters to reach their deserving happiness in the end.

I was given this book for an honest review. I really enjoyed reading this book. Do to a mix-up at a fertility clinic Luca Moretti and Claire Douglas are forced together. Claire isn't happy to have to share her miracle baby with Luca. So after spending 30 days together they start to fall for each other. After a night together and a broken condom later Claire finds out she's pregnant again. You will have to read it to find out about all the drama that happens. It is a happily ever after ending. Enjoy!
Well written and at times heartfelt romance. Claire Douglas discovers that there has been a mix up at the fertility clinic and her daughter's father is not her late husbands but that of Luca Moretti.
Luca Moretti comes from an at times boisterous family and due to past circumstances assumes that he will never have children. Both characters go through a learning process that at times tug at the heart strings but flows so the the writer takes you along for this emotional ride. Loved it.
1) The heroine’s thoughts on first seeing the hero “The man had never touched her and yet a part of him had been inside her. What was a man like Luca doing at a fertility clinic, anyway? With the right look, Claire was certain he could make a woman’s ovaries explode. If a man like Luca needed the services of a fertility clinic, a lesser man didn’t stand a chance with his own progeny.”
2) The Hero has a good friend Gavin who’s the hero of the previous book in the series. His Lover's Little Secret He very nicely sums up the situation - “So, four weeks in a beach house with the woman you accidentally impregnated and the child you’ve never met? And the woman doesn’t like you, at that.” Luca sighed. “That pretty much sums it up.” In fact the hero has more than a few conversations with Gavin and once goes to meet him at his office also.
3) The hero telling the heroine about how a woman should be treated is such a refreshing change from the norm. “I was always raised to believe that a woman is meant to be treasured. She is a gift, an angel sent into your life from the heavens. To treat her as anything less is an abomination.” Ooh!! So swoon worthy!!
4) The hero’s loud, loving and close knit Italian family was delightful.
5) The babysitter cum friend is the voice of reason when the Luca refuses to accept that the baby is his. “He doesn’t believe the baby is his. I don’t know how he could say that. I’ve spent the past month alone with him. Whose baby could it be?” “I think he’ll come around,” Daisy said, holding her hand reassuringly. “Like you said, it sounds to me like he’s spent too many years thinking that it could never happen. To believe he’s the father means that everything he knows is wrong. If he’s thrown away the past ten years of his life, too afraid to fall in love and disappoint his wife, it’s got to be a serious blow. It’s easier to push you away with angry accusations than to face the fact that he was too chicken to find out if he was sterile all this time.”
6) The Hero’s contrition and the grand gesture he makes via his lawyer was very nicely done.

The Unexpected CEO's Child by Andrea Laurence is exactly as it sounds. I love Harlequin books. They always bring out the best romances that will sweep readers off their feet as well as drag them headfirst into the story. The plot so masterfully written by Andrea Laurence is one that will tug the hearts of every reader. A man and woman brought together when they have lost so much...a baby being born from both of them is one way of ensuring the characters get together. A woman who wants her baby so much and is fearful of losing it when she has nobody else. Then there's a rich good looking Italian man with a large family. He never thought he would have a kid let alone be given a chance to have one in the future...But somehow these two strong characters are spun together and it's not too late for hot kisses and a passion deep enough to swallow them up as a whole.
The Unexpected CEO's Child is brilliant. The drama, fear, and craziness of the entire situation is believable and addictive. Readers won't be able to stop reading until they finish this sexy romantic read. A hot bachelor who knows how to make a woman swoon and how to make love to her is one to behold...a woman with passion and tenderness is one to hold onto forever...maybe just maybe these two will find a happiness after all...Andrea Laurence creates a novel that will entice readers from the beginning and keep them hooked forever. This is a wonderful story, and I highly recommend it to readers everywhere.
I didn't think these two where going to work things out than when things started to work out something popped up and he didn't believe anything she was saying can't wait to read more books by this author can't wait to read more books in this series
La historia es buena la recomiendo todo la gente.la historia me encanto la leí ay tristeza y rabien ay felicidad , emociones y de deseo el tren dos persona que fuero Herida
Loved to read this. Especially for people who don't get pregnant that easily. Strong female character and a strong (sometimes pigheaded) male character. Really a good romantic love story.
This was an okay book. Kind of baffles me that such a dedicated and overprotective mom just let the baby go off with people. The characters were okay. The story was quick and enjoyable.
I liked this one with an interesting story on how the h and H meet. This H was manipulative but that was okay. The ending was a little rushed and Luca didn't redeem himself to Claire in my eyes.
Molto carino, una lettura piacevole che mi sono gustata anche se nel finale avrei preferito che Claire avesse fatto “tirare il collo” a Luca un po’ più a lungo, se lo meritava proprio!
Very good and very emotional book. Claire became a widow when her husband was killed in a car accident, accompanied by his mistress. Then she gets word that through a mix-up at the fertility clinic her daughter's father is actually another man, one who wants shared custody of little Eva. Luca had given up any hope of ever being a father after a devastating illness when he was a teen. When he discovers that he has a daughter thanks to the clinic mix-up there's no way he can walk away. But what are his chances of convincing her mother without a long and painful custody battle?
I must admit that my first impression of Luca was of a cold man who is only interested in getting his way. His threats against Claire really had me wanting her to fight back. But that quickly faded when his thoughts and feelings were described and I could see how much having a child would mean to him. I liked seeing the solution that he came up with, of the three of them spending a month together, getting to know each other. It also said a lot about Claire that she could see the benefit and was able to agree. I also liked the way that she had the graciousness to invite him to meet Eva before they left on their trip.
This is where Luca really began to shine. I loved the way that he was immediately enchanted by Eva and the effect that she had on him. Claire also began to realize that there was more to him than the ruthless businessman she first thought him to be. Something neither of them expected was the flare of attraction between them, something both were uncomfortable with. Luca had been burned by another woman and has serious trust issues when it comes to them. He had also determined long ago that a family was something he would never have. Claire no longer trusts her judgment when it comes to men, thanks to her husband's lies and infidelity. She isn't about to risk her heart again.
I loved their time at Martha's Vineyard. Claire quickly came to see that Luca would be a wonderful father to Eva. Luca also discovered that Claire was not as unreasonable as she had seemed before. I loved seeing them get to know each other and how easily they worked together as a family. I loved Luca's protectiveness toward Claire when he found out about her husband's treatment of her. She had never experienced that kind of caring and it only added to her growing feelings for him. Luca was also beginning to care for Claire, but tried to suppress those feelings. He was, however, willing to use her feelings to convince her that being married was the best option for them. He was also determined to keep the truth of his illness from her, as he felt it made him less of a man. It was interesting to see that Claire could tell that he was holding back on something important and that she was determined to get the truth from him before moving further with a relationship.
I loved seeing them grow even closer by the end of the trip. Luca was still guarding his feelings and I was sure that something was going to happen to crack the wall around his heart. And when it did, he made the world's biggest idiot of himself. I ached for Claire but loved the way that she stood up for herself. It was wonderful to see her call Luca out on his cowardice and stand strong. It was very satisfying to see him have to admit that she was right and do something about it. I loved his big moment at the end, and the twist that Claire added to it.
I loved Luca's family and the obvious love and support they had for each other. I could also understand why he had kept Eva a secret from them for so long, as they were certainly overwhelming as a group. It was sweet to see the way that they all embraced Claire right away. I also loved seeing Gavin from His Lover's Little Secret. He got quite a laugh out of Luca's reaction to Claire and I'm sure he could see where it was heading. I also liked his support of Luca at the end, and how he backed up Claire's challenge. His comments after Luca got the results of his test were pretty funny.
Wow! Laurence tackled a tough topic in this one. Take a new mother widowed before her baby was born and a billionaire who fought cancer and won and you have the makings for a good story. Throw in infidelity, and a mix-up at a fertility clinic and you have the makings for a great story!
Luca battled and survived cancer as a teenager but it left him with lots of emotional scars. Claire dealt with infertility issues then, after finally getting pregnant has to deal with not only the death of her husband on an automobile accident, but the reality of his infidelity. And if that weren't enough, she then finds out there was a mix-up at the fertility clinic. Now she has to come to terms with the fact her daughter's father is a stranger while Luca has to come to terms with being a father when he never planned to.
As they try to work out a custody agreement that works for both of them, they decide to spend a month together to get to know each other so Claire can be sure she trusts Luca with their daughter. They begin to develop a friendship and Claire opens up to Luca about her marriage and her husband's infidelity. While Luca shares things about his family he doesn't mention a past relationship that turned him off commitment and definitely doesn't mention his illness. After swearing his sister to secrecy about Eva and bringing her to the beach house to babysit while he spends time with Claire, his sister "spills the beans" and his entire family converges on the beach house. Luca's mother shares the story of Luca's failed relationship. After the family leaves, Claire asks him more about it and tells him she knows he's keeping things from her. He finally tells her the whole story about his illness. They decide to let their relationship develop before heading back to the city.
But once they get back to their jobs and lives, fate jumps in. Both Claire and Luca are taken by surprise with the hand they're dealt. Luca doesn't handle the news well and says some horrible things to Claire. Afterwards he's forced to face his fears. He has to come to terms with some news he's given and then had to figure out how to win Claire back. I won't spoil it, but suffice it to say they all get their happily ever after!
