Paintings and drawings, 1912-13, National Gallery of Art

a favorite artist and a favorite country; a serious catalog with not only Matisse's work but locales and thoughts behind it.

a jewel. One never really finishes reading it.

Interesting story of Matisse's trips to Morocco, but I have to say, his palette didn't click with me.

If you are looking to read a textbook history of Matisse and his art this is the book for you. Good supporting visuals.
