I loved how colorful everything was but some of the things used to represent each number were very unorthodox. The book counts from 1-20 then goes up in increments of 10 and after 100 it just skips straight to 1000. Not very helpful if you as me.

Reiss, John J. Numbers. BOARD BOOK. Simon & Schuster, 2016. $8.99. Content: G.

From 1 boy to 1,000 raindrops this unique board book does not stop with typically counting from 1 to 10 but continues counting by 10’s and ending with the last page showing one thousand raindrops! Many pages show more than one image representing a particular number: two socks and two shoes, a three leaf clover and a traffic light with three lights. The illustrations are bright and colorful. This is a fun board book that will not only help little ones begin to count to ten but will extend their number learning by learning to count by 10’s.

I love the idea of a 'graphic-first' counting primer, and this perfectly fits the bill. It's not as much fun as an Aussie fav of mine: Chunky Lift the Flap : 123, but it's certainly visually stunning and goes up to 1000.

This book is excellent for counting practice, and my kids LOVE it. They love to practice counting the colorful objects and attempting to name the larger numbers like 100, but they definitely shy away from 1,000.

I liked getting higher than 10, as so many children’s books stop there, but was disappointed that the gaps were so great. More incremental numbers would have been helpful.

A board book that uses vibrant digital images to represent numbers 1-20 and then counts by tens to 100 with 1,000 as a bonus.

I like the examples included to represent the different numbers and I don't think I've ever seen a counting book, much less a board book, that included the number 1,000!
