When the young American debutante, Miss Kathleen Hawks, arrives in town for the London season, the last thing she expects is an attraction to the scandalous Lord Billingsley. He’s the kind of aristocrat she detests, one who only cares for his pleasures. Andrew Grainger is handsome, young and very wealthy. He loves carousing with his pack of friends from his school days. When he stumbles across the prim, yet charming Miss Hawks, he should avoid her at any cost. After all, she’s an innocent young miss, barely out of the schoolroom. But…there’s just something about her he finds irresistible. When a chance encounter leads to scandal for the pair, they must choose to brave the Beau Monde, or give into its dictates. Is there any possibility that what appears to be a match made in Hades, could turn into a match made in heaven instead?
I'm an avid reader of Historical Romance and a true romantic at heart. I also read and review in other sub-genres as well. I'm happiest curled up in my chair with a good book and a cup of coffee!
I am also an author and have written close to a dozen novels, and I'm currently working on my next, while fighting off future characters clambering for their own book. I started writing career in June 2010. I love to discuss reading and writing.
Kathleen, an American from Baltimore, was engaged to banker Wm in the US. But agreed to a London season to placate her married brother who split his time between Baltimore & London. She thought aristos lazy & useless. She considered Andrew ( H +a baron) a false charmer and rake. Gradually Andrew reflected on his life as a rake and found it lacking.
3 instances of seeming sabotage occurred but the mystery was never solved.
Some minor things which bugged me: the duchess who sponsored the h would not serve biscuits and gravy for breakfast, the h would have insufficient time to wash and dry her long hair on her wedding day.
Major things: Kathleen overreacted + wept too frequently. The story felt too long and most sex scenes too mechanical. The MCs did not convince me they were in love until nearly the end.
I really enjoyed reading historical romances and I recommend you add this to your stash. Kathleen is from America and travels to England to be introduced into society. She meets Baron Andrew and she instantly despises him because he is a bit of a Rake. The problem is she feels the electricity between them when she looks at him. It also seems as if Andrew feels the same. I will not go into anymore details - so pick up this book and enjoy as much as I did. I am reviewing this as a Book Obsessed Chicks Review Team Selection
Miss Kathleen's scandalous Baron was a really cute romance story. It was a romance story where the main characters are both young and had much to learn. Andrew and Kathleen had to know eachother before they fell in love. It was cute to see that progression. In this book the author gave a impression how life was meant to be in that periode and how a courtship worked. You see how fast a girl/woman could lose her reputation because of a scandal. In my opinion the author described this very well.
I enjoyed the book very much and recommend it to anyone who loves romance novels.
Miss Kathleen's Scandalous Baron ⭐⭐⭐ by Vikki Vaught
When the beautiful young American, Kathleen Hawks, comes to London at the urging of her brother to perhaps meet and fall in love she is angry. She has her betrothed in America and say she loves him. Kathleen hates British aristocrats, she considers the men lazy and entitled.
She especially despises the Baron Andrew Grainger she thinks he is a spoiled do nothing rich man. So when Kathleen finds herself compromised by Grainger the encounter leads to scandal and subsequently leads to them marrying. They are basically complete strangers to each other.
I felt the book was enjoyable at this point but the author took us to day by day events as these two got to know each other which I found very tedious to say the least. The last third of the book pick up and literally saved the story. I will close by saying I had very mixed feelings about this novel.
This Miss Kathleen's Scandalous Baron is Book 2 of my Honorable Rogue series. Lady Overton's Perilous Journey started this series off. I am presently working on The Viscount's Salvation, Book 3 It will be out in the last quarter of 2016 and there will be another book in this series to be released in 2017.
I had a lot of fun writing this light-hearted romance. It is set in 1803 and takes place in London and Dorsetshire. Andrew is a great rogue and fits well in Honorable Rogue series. He definitely likes to have fun, yet he does have a responsible side and knows how to balance the two facets of his personality. Kathleen is saucy American debutante and a bit impulse and has to learn to look before she jumps. She is a truly compassionate character. Her heart melts for any defenseless character, be it human or animal. Happy reading!
I was honored to get to Beta Read this book and was thrilled to find out it's now out for everyone to read. I so enjoyed reading it again and fell in love with the story all over again. Although I adore getting to Beta read a story I love when it comes out and I get to go back and read it again for just my reading pleasure. If you are a fan of good historical romance than this is a great fit for you. So glad I found this author's books as she reminded me how much I always enjoyed reading historical romance. I had gotten away from reading this genre and glad I am reading them again.
I had the pleasure of proofreading this book, and the previous books in Ms. Vaught's Honorable Rogue series. Highly entertaining and well-plotted, with a dash of suspense and some very steamy interludes. Ms. Vaught skillfully draws the reader into the world of Regency England as if you're really there. A highly recommended read!!
