Yes AE Wilder-Smith is a Brit creationist with 3 earned doctorates and a long list of patents and scientific publications... While he is not a spell-binding writer, the material is certainly of interest and there are funny anecdotes about childhood pranks at a time when cars were a new thing. There is an eye-witness' description of life in wartime Britain and after his conversion, it is clear that Wilder-Smith pursued both his science research as well as being heavily involved in Christian ministry and apologetics. WS also provides some valuable gems of wisdom for Christians about making progress both in one’s spiritual and intellectual life such as this excerpt from page 86 (section entitled: Wisdom and Practical Obedience Go Together):
“Knowledge comes once in a while like a flash of lightning, but also grows slowly. If one endeavors, to truly live in accordance with the newly-won knowledge, it has been my life-long experience that God always entrusts further and more complete knowledge. When one denies the already available, God-given knowledge or is unfaithful, the the growth of insight and understanding stops. He no longer entrusts his mysteries to us. One no longer grows in the grace and knowledge of the Lord. I have discovered and experienced this for over sixty years. “He that is faithful in a very little is faithful also in much”” (Luke 16: 10) This is also a valid fact for
growth in Christian knowledge. Whoever can be trusted with a little knowledge will receive more. Therefore theological study alone will not bring great spiritual insight.”
Another interesting anecdote is that Wilder-Smith had CS Lewis as a tutor at Oxford, but this occurred before his conversion and in fact, a retired Army general was instrumental in that (rather than Lewis).
