This book was cute. It was about a little girl showing different ways to love not only your family but your friends. The rhyming and story was adorable. She showed everyone from her puppy, her parents, her friends and teachers the different ways she loved and cared for them.

I read this with my daughter and she really enjoyed it. Definitely a story we will read again & again!

My Review:

Such an adorable story about a little girls life that is so filled with love and blessings from above that she absolutely loves to share. She finds it shared to her and finds ways to share it with others throughout her day. And she realizes that she doesn't have to give or show love in material ways, she can do it just by hugs, kisses, and saying "I Love You".

Along with the whimsical rhythm and rhyme by the author are some really precious muted illustrations that accurately convey the authors words. This is the most perfect book for Valentine's day, any day really but for heart day it is perfect. God wants us to share the love He gives us with others so that they can grasp the full meaning of His love for them. Beautiful story!

Lots of Love written by Kim Washburn and illustrated by Jaqueline East is a sweet little board book that demonstrates ways to show love.
In following a Valentine's Day theme, the month of February is the perfect time to share this book with children.

In this story, readers are introduced to a little girl that looks for ways throughout her day to share love and kindness with others. Love is shown in numerous ways toward her parents, teachers, siblings, friends, family, and pets. I like the fact it wasn't just in store-bought material items but in acts of kindness, hugs, a kind word, and so forth. The story wraps up nicely pointing to the fact that God fills our lives with blessings, love, and that days appear much brighter when we act in love toward others.

The book is written in a rhyming way making it an easy read. The text is simplistic, perfect for young children to understand. I like this book as it can be used as a conversation starter with littles ones on how we can show our love toward others and how a cheerful heart and giver is an enormous blessing toward others and to God! What a testimony true love is.

I was provided a complimentary copy of this book from Zonderkidz in exchange for an honest review.

I think it was amazing because my dad was reading to me and I like it and I like my dad. I only like nice books not mean books because they make me happy. I'm so glad you're here, it makes me feel happy and I want you to be happy too!

When my daughter turned 6 months I started reading to her, I have always tried to introduce different types of story books to her. She turned 3 last August and loves reading books now, maybe she got the love of books from me and my mom and astonishingly started reading when she was about 2 yrs and a few months, now she can read a whole book with only occasional help here and there. As she loves books I have always found it easier to talk to her about various topics, especially topics that are new to her, when I have a book as a reference point. Whether the topic is about Love, Holidays, Seasons, or simply a Morale based story, she listens to them very patiently and later reads the book herself.
One of the latest books that I gave her to read was Lots of Love by Kim Washburn and the illustrations done by Jacqueline East. The book talks about love; love for parents, for teachers, for pets, siblings, friends and finally the assurance that God loves us too. The book has a nice flow with rhythmic paragraphs and cute illustrations that new readers will love reading or the little ones who yet cannot read will love to hear when parents read it to them. The book is a board book so it won’t be easily torn also unlike most board books this has complete stanzas on each page rather than 1 or 2 lines. The book tells the kids various ways one can show their love for others, this is one of the things I liked about this book.
Overall it is a cute board book to have. The book itself is made of little thinner boards than most board books I have at home but none the less it is less susceptible to be torn when a 3 yr old handles it compared to a paper book.

With Valentine's Day just around the corner I'm on the hunt for some non candy treats for my grands. I think Lots of Love fits the bill perfectly for the two little ones on my list. It's a sturdy board book that their little hands can manipulate without worry of torn pages.

And the message . . . it's all about love! In fact let me tell you my favorite verse and you will get a glimpse of the entire book's content.

"God fills my life with blessings.
He loves me through and through.
My heart is overflowing
And I want to show love too."

The story revolves around a little girl and how she gives and receives love throughout her day. It starts early in the morning as she wakes and greets the day cuddling with her puppy. She then moves on to her family and friends at preschool. Eventually she's back at home and finishes her day by expressing her thanks for the love she has given and been given.

This is a delightful way to reinforce that we are called to love one another. I think it would make a wonderful Valentine's Day gift but of course love is in style any time of year so it would make a great gift regardless of the occasion.

“ I climb in bed for tuck-in. This day has been the best. I got love and I gave it too, and now it's time to rest.”
Lots of Love by Kim Washburn is a hard covered, board book that follows a young girl from when she wakes up Valentine's morning through her day. She spends time playing with a little dog and snuggling with her mommy. He daddy takes her to school where she helps clean up, spends time with her friends, and makes a glittery heart that she gives her teacher. When she gets home she tells her family she loves them.
This is a very cute Valentine's Day story for the preschooler and young reader. I like how the story follows this little girl through her day as she helps others, gives and receives love from her family, friends and teacher. As well as how it explains that God is who gives us what we have and how much he loves us. Being a board book, this is a very durable book for the younger child but an older child may find this a little childish.
The pages are brightly colored pictures of children, animals and adults in varying scenes such as out doors, in school and at home. The story is written in rhyme and teaches those reading and listening to the book about the love shared between family and friends. This is the perfect book to spend time snuggling and reading with a younger child.

Lots of Love, a children’s book written by Kim Washburn and illustrated by Jaqueline East, is a book about showing love to family and friends through kisses, hugs, and acts of kindness. The story follows a little girl as she wakes up, spends time with her family and dog, goes to school, and returns home to her family.

The cover, which is somewhat simplistic, may not convey how great the book really is; the story has a fun and exciting feel, as it chronicles the protagonist’s adventures on an ordinary day. One page shows the girl gleefully sitting with her friends at recess, with the words, “Sitting with my best friends, We laugh and talk and play. I want to share some kindess / With all the words I say.” The book may be best for a preschooler or child in elementary school.

The little girl and her family are ethnically ambiguous; they have olive skin, brown eyes, and hair that ranges from light brown to black and from straight to curly. The illustrations are very pretty – and charming; the protagonist’s cheerfulness and bright smile lights up the pages.

Kim Washburn and Jaqueline East also created the book Pumpkin Patch Blessings, but if you just have to choose one of these books, I recommend Lots of Love.

"Lots of Love" is a charming, engaging board book. It shows sweet, appropriate ways to show love to friends and family throughout an ordinary day. For example, her mother hugs her and she, in turn, hugs her sister and brothers. She helps clean up the craft supplies at school and gives the card she made to her teacher. And "Sitting with my best friends, / We laugh and talk and play. / I want to share some kindness / With all the words I say."

The Christian element explains why we should show love to others: "God fills my life with blessings. / He loves me through and through. / My heart is overflowing / And I want to show love too." The illustrations are full of life and invite talk about the scenes since they illustrate the text but show even more. I liked that the people shown had a variety of skin tones. Overall, I'd highly recommend this board book.

Lots of Love would be a great addition (or substituion) to the Valentine’s candy! This book celebrates living a life of love through colorful illustrations and easy rhyme. But this one will be read long after all the chocolate is gone because it teaches the enduring concept of showing love. The board book follows one little girl as she experiences and shares love throughout her day — from an early morning wake-up, to the activities of school, to family interactions and the acknowledgment of God’s love for her. I liked this book and am eager to share it with my little friends. A book that goes beyond a holiday, I recommend Lots of Love!

Recommended.

What a cute book. While meant for Valentine's Day this book is a good reminder all year long. This story is all about how a little girl wakes up one morning and chooses to show love to everyone she meets, even the dogs. It's important for kids to read about being kind and showing love because this world is so full of everything else. I also like how the little girl starts her day out with a purpose to love, we should all do that more often.

Five stars.
