“I won’t do anything you don’t want me to do,” Caspian tells me. “I’ll just force you to do as you wish.” I’ve always been a good girl. Partly by choice, partly because of my mother’s shame and my father’s belt. Caspian White is strong. Handsome. Powerful. Frightening. The world knows his name, envies his wealth, suspects his kinks, and fears his wrath. I’ve kept myself pure, and that’s drawn Caspian to me like a predator to prey. I don’t want to do what he wants me to. I just want to conclude my business with Caspian and go. But Caspian seems to have been watching me for a while. I’m a target, and he knows me too well. I’m afraid he’ll force me to do things I’ll regret … and that if he does, my shameful half will enjoy it. Gagged is a billionaire romance about love and lust, darkness and light. It contains BDSM elements but is not really a BDSM romance. It's a billionaire romance about testing socially imposed limits ... and embracing the desires inside us. I love to write stories with characters that feel real enough to friend on Facebook, or slap across the face. I write to make you feel, think, and burn with the thrill that can only come from getting lost in the pages. I love to write unforgettable characters who wrestle with life's largest problems. My books may always end with a Happily Ever After, but there will always be drama on the way there.
To be fair, I couldn't stand the plot and characters. This was my first read from Aubrey Parker but this isn't for me. At all. You all must be curious, WHY?
The story was told from 2 POV. I lost connection with the main characters, Aurora and Caspian. Almost 50% I couldn't find what's interesting between them. Their banter feels off. Caspian's dirty talk sold me but it didn't enough to make me stand for him. The story itself fell didn't right. I still didn't know what's makes them like each other? Also I couldn't stand how naive and stupid Aurora claimed to be innocent. Meh.
MAYBE I will continue in the future. I read it because I'm curious with the cover and title. Feels so dark, yet so wrong. Until the mark, I haven't found their interest in whatever kinky sex maybe they finally did. Their sh!t was taking too long. Patient isn't my virtue. The whole time they're talking about company, business and humanity. WHAT!! Very slow paced with useless story between Aurora and her best friend, Jasmine. It was like Jasmine is the secondary character. Meh again.
I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. I'm an Aubrey Parker fan so it's no surprise I liked this book. I highly recommend reading the notes at the end of the book if you want an understanding of how this book was developed. I don't want to say too much about the story as I don't want to give anything away (and I'm not a fan of "book report" reviews) but I will say it has some romance, some steamy sex, and an interesting look into what makes two people tick. I'm looking forward to the next book about Lucy!
This book raises lots of questions. This book wasn't light, but it wasn't that strong either. It fell in the middle. I have mixed feeling about this.
Just when I started to love and enjoy this book, BAM .... it ended. And it felt rushed. The characters had much more to give. I couldn't find the turning point in all of it. I really had high hopes for this book.
Humanity is not what it pretends to be. The world is not what it thinks it is. We have not evolved from the brutal beings we once were. We have only grown new skin. We have only agreed on a society that does not change us, gagging our base mouths and binding our lustful hands.
Caspian was exciting. He was enticing and bold, yet cold. I loved his character so much. So many contradictions, and so many feelings bottled inside. I wanted to see his feelings develop. I hated that sudden change that happened. I felt like I have been lied to. I wanted to feel Caspian's love towards Aurora. He had so much more to give.
“Do you know why it bothers you so much? Because you’re light, and I’m dark.
Aurora may appear timid at first. But oh lord, she turned out to be a vixen which surprised me. She buried herself under all the guilt and shame, she couldn't move forward. Caspian was somehow her life savior and devil in disguise. Suddenly, she changed and it was weird. I didn't have time to comprehend her growth.
I needed more time with these two characters. They had so much potential and it felt meh.
“You’re a bit like a butterfly, forcing its way out of a chrysalis. Only the resistance feels painful. If you accept that you are the person you’ve recently been, none of it will hurt."
Jasmine and James disappeared all of a sudden. I didn't like Jasmine very much, she wasn't that helpful. I found her annoying and just flat. James felt normal. But still I needed to see more of them.
I’ll never gag you, Aurora. The point of all of this isn’t to bind you. It’s to free you.
Caspian wanted to prove Aurora wrong. He thought he could win it all, she turned his world upside down , and he was able to finally free her from being gagged.
This book was not what I was anticipating, but in wonderful ways. I had already been introduced to Caspian from Aubrey's Burning Choice series. I felt like I could see inside Aurora's mind and understand her, and why her inner dialogue kept her in a loop of negative internal messages. Caspian is still so intriguing to me, although so many things were revealed about him, I could have happily had more backstory, just because I love his character. The chemistry between them is so off the charts insane, I couldn't get enough of it. I hope that updates on Caspian and Aurora make it into other books that Aubrey writes, because I'd love to read even little snippets of how they are doing in the future.
I wanted so much to like this book. The premise was sooo good. I love good girls being made to do naughty things. But I got 75% through, and I realized this book just wasn't for me.
This is about when I found out that
So yeah. Not much actual non-consent in this, which is what I was looking for and expecting with a title and description like this one.
Also, I gotta say, the idea that a piece of software can predict human behavior down to minute actions is just ridiculous. I actually scoffed at that. I don't think the writer knows much about AI or software if they think that's actually possible. Considering this book generally seemed to be set in modern day or slightly in the future, I couldn't suspend my disbelief on that one.
Mmm!!! Interesting opening - is it a dream or reality? It took a few chapters for me to settle into his book and freely follow storyline. I imagined the contents completely different after offering such an awesome cover. I don’t compare books, yet this had a comparison to the FS series within the first third of book. Mind games, this is what the whole book was related on. Not going to be a spoiler as always but must honestly say, struggled to keep my concentration throughout. Ending was good. Sweet and short. Unfortunately for me, won’t give this another read the in future.
There is a downside to writing great stories, which is, I keep reading them nonstop! No time to write reviews... But then there is "Gagged". I am in the same club of wrecked human beings, so I can tell you it is really, really hard to document trauma, let alone write a story from the wreckage! I admit I was impatient at times, but that is because I spent 30 years in recovery. I am deeplly touched by two people who dare each other to do their worst, and find it is their best hiding behind their mask of evil.
OH MY GAWD!!! I love Caspian!!! And i loved Aurora!!
This was an absolute amazing story!! The chemistry between Aurora and Caspian was phenomenal!!! And their bet was awesome they had some great times!!!! Though my favorite is Aurora's friend Jasmine!!! She is absolutely great!!! Favorite scene was her and the cereal box maze!! I laughed so hard!!! And that ending!!! It was amazing, great happily ever after!!! This was another amazing read for me from Aubrey Parker!!!! I absolutely love his books!!! I can't wait to read more!!!!
Wow Aubrey! This book had me going from anger to passion. I did enjoy reading about the journey for Aurora and Caspian. In the end it does seem the two of them were good for each other. Until next time....
The author admits he cried a parts of this book when wrote it, so did I. The storyline look at two abused children as adult, the way they are lock into their selves sexual. How they each other to find love. Omg love this book. Both characters where believable.
Let me start with saying that this book isn’t about BDSM. There is some light BDSM, but it’s not the focus of the book. Gagged is about psychological bondage. Aurora doesn’t dare to say what she thinks and doesn’t do anything wrong even if she could enjoy it. But I love the cover and title, because they fit Aurora and Caspian’s story.
Aurora is an amateur photographer and a college student. She wants children to have the best education they can have. She noticed that some schools don’t use technology and she blames Caspian for that. Aurora’s friend may interview Caspian, but Caspian makes her wait. When Aurora sees him at a coffee shop, while he should be with her friend, she confronts him. Caspian reacts cool and invites her to join him for the rest of the interview. Aurora hesitates, but follows him in the end. That interview will lead to more meetings and will change both their lives forever.
Aubrey Parker delivers again! I’ve read all her books and I’m also curious to see what she writes next. I’m a fan! The Trevor’s Harem series and this book are very unique. They are about more than romance. I never know what to expect and she surprises me each time. While reading Gagged, I was constantly wondering what was going to happen next.
I wanted to know more about Caspian since meeting him in the Trevor’s Harem series. If you liked that series, you will definitely love this novel. Gagged is also twisted and steamy. Caspian has a plan and I loved finding that out. I was definitely intrigued by him. He’s a successful businessman. He’s strong, tall and muscular. He knows what he wants and he will get that. I would have loved to hate him sometimes, but in the end I fell in love with him.
Aurora is a passionate, strong and shy woman. Something happened to her as a child and this still influences her life. Caspian makes her realize several things and sometimes pushes her. Aurora pulls Caspian out of his comfort zone and breaks down his walls. She’s perfect for him for many reasons, just like he is for her.
The secondary characters are great. Jasmine is the best friend of Aurora. They live together and would do everything for each other. They are loyal to each other. Jasmine has a connection with James. There’s something odd about him, but James and Jasmine belong together. Lucy is Caspian’s little sister. She loves her brother and they work together. Her book is next and I’m happy about that. I really adored her.
I just wished I felt Caspian’s love for Aurora sooner. Caspian was too focused on proving he’s right and the wager. I understand why he did that and he mentioned he felt that Aurora was special, but I need more feelings. Aurora made it more clear that she liked him, even if it felt wrong, and eventually loved him.
-- ARC provided in exchange for an honest review. Thank you! --
For those familiar with Aubrey’s Trevor’s Harem series, you briefly met Caspian White. He was an intriguing character that seemed to be more of a mind-fuck and manipulator – so Gagged was an anticipated read because I really wanted to learn exactly what made this character tick.
Enter our innocent girl, Aurora quickly becomes the obsession of our Hero and although everything seems to be set up by fate and chance, you suddenly realize that Caspian is pulling all the strings. There are a lot of little twist and turns with this story, so I’m not going to go into the details. You’ll have to experience those for yourself.
What I can say is that I was an early reader of the first version of Gagged and although that original work was steamy as fuck, this revamped version was all the things. I loved that I got to form a connection to these two characters and that there was more time given to them to not only explore one another, but for Aurora to explore her own desires. And THANK YOU for the “quick wash up” scene. I still think about that early version and thinking someone needed to use some soap!
It’s difficult to not compare this to the first version, but I think it was over a year ago that I read that, so it goes to show you that although a little rough around the edges, all these books later, I can still recall it vividly. I really enjoyed the polished version of this story.
I really think that out of all of the seven books I’ve read by this author, that Gagged is my favorite. I think it is a combination of intriguing characters, Caspian was a tragic sort of hero. A broken man who hides his cracks well, but throughout this story we got to see so many sides to him. With Aurora’s journey, we see a very innocent girl who has been conditioned from an early age, learn to embrace her sexuality and desire. Pushing away the shame of the act and embracing it. I love when you feel like you’re on the journey of discovery with the characters.
Note – this is a stand-alone. Caspian’s presence in TH was minor and has no impact on this story. But I do recommend checking out that series as well.
3.5 stars opposites attract erotic romance about two different people being pushed to explore their true selves!
Gagged is the first book I have read by Aubrey Parker so I didn’t really know what to expect from this book. However, I was torn with this book as it is well written and intriguing with the psychological elements but I really struggled to warm up to the two main characters, Aurora and Caspian, although eventually I did. One thing I did like was the fact we got an epilogue and HEA to round off Aurora and Caspian’s story to make this a standalone book.
Aurora and Caspian are complete opposites but both have similar troubled pasts that have shaped the way they are today. The way in which the two meet is a little suspicious and as a result takes a while for the reader to fully recognise and see that maybe these two differing light and dark people are actually good for each other, have a true connection and test each others limits while pushing each other out of their comfort zones in very different ways.
Gagged is well written with a good but slightly dark plot and moves at a fast pace, set over only a couple of days. You do kind of have to be open minded about things given the short period of time in which things occur during the book and I personally would have liked to have seen it played out over a slightly longer period of time. The title Gagged and blurb gives off impression that this book will contain BDSM and while there are light elements of BDSM there isn’t a heavy focus on it. Some of the situations in the book were little uncomfortable and a word of warning - there is some female on female action within the book. While I am open to F/F, the scenario in which it takes place and the aftermath was a little uncomfortable to read personally. I understand the point the book was making but just left me a little uncomfortable when reading.
Overall, I would say if you are looking for something a bit different that isn’t your typically sweet romance, give this book a try. It’s not a bad read.
*I received a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. I was not compensated for my review, and I was not required to write a positive review. The opinion expressed here is my own.
Caspian White is a character we first meet in the Trevor's Harem series. He is an enigma, no one really knows him at all, just know of him but he has quite a reputation none the less. In this story we get to see the real Caspian, and find out he is human after all.
Caspian is obsessed with a college student named Aurora Henley. He knows her better than she knows herself, because he has been studying her online. Something about her lightness bothers him, he hates that she is so idealistic and trusting. And he is determined to show her that life is harsh and there is really only darkness. But, to his surprise she shows him there is light in the dark. But, will that be enough to lift Caspian from the darkness? Read and see.
I enjoyed how Aurora and Caspian pushed each others limits. I especially loved when Aurora forced Caspian to be a "normal" human being, those scenes made me giggle. Clearly the man is not comfortable being loose and free, he is more of a buttoned-up rigid kind of person and Aurora helps him loosen up. Even though it made me uncomfortable at times, and even made me want to stop reading at several points, I see why Caspian pushed Aurora the way he did. He made her see that she must accept the baser side of herself and be ok with it.
All in all this is a good read, but some of the situations I didn't understand and felt they were just gratuitous sex and really didn't add to the story. I also felt the book was a bit repetitive and when the mystery of why Caspian is the way he is it was kind of underwhelming. I don't know, I have mixed feelings about this one. I didn't love it, nor did I hate it, it's just ok.
I have received this book as an ARC in change of an honest review.
Aurora and Caspian are complete opposites. Both have had family problems in the pasts that has shaped the way they are today. Aurora is an amateur photographer, a college student and still a virgin at twenty. She thinks children in under-serve schools should have the best educational tools they can get.
Caspian's a successful businessman who thinks very little of the mankind and that anyone can be brought for a price. He knows what he wants and he gets it. This time he has his sights set on Aurora. I have received this book as an ARC in change of an honest review. Their first meeting is a fiery combustion of anger from Aurora because he left her friend (Jasmine) sitting in his office while he's out getting coffee. Caspian acts indifferent and invites Aurora back to his office. This meeting leads to more meetings. A wager is made that will change both of their lives forever. Who will win in the end?
I don't want to say too much, I don't want to give anything away. The title Gagged and the cover gives off the impression that this book will contain BDSM and while there are light elements of BDSM there isn’t a heavy focus on it. I recommend it. Gagged
I am a huge fan of Aubrey Parker I loved her when I started to read Trevor's Harem and got a little introduction to Mr. Caspian White. So to say I was excited for this book to be released is an understatement.
Aubrey my goodness you did it!!! This is a great read, the characters are top notch your plot is so complex and you just made this entire read flow that once I started I did not stop until the very last word was read.
Meet Caspian, hot sexy billionaire with the personality most days of a nat!! Yes he is dark. Meet Aurora, pure sweet wants to be Pollyanna all the time...or does she? The 2 meet under certain circumstances and the relationship develops the dark twisted side of Caspian trying to dim the light of Aurora while Aurora tries to light up his darkness.
They engage into a unique bet with truly life changing consequences for both...is their a winner at the end?
This is a dark, twisted sexy as hell read that will keep you enthralled from cover to cover. Cudos to Aubrey fro an amazing Book!!!
I received an ARC in exchange for an HONEST REVIEW for Rockstar Book Muse
This was my first read from this author, so I didn't really know what to expect. I needed to read something quick, dark and twisted, and the blurb was on my mind, so I had to read it.
What a strange book though. It started really slow, and I was between intrigued and bored and confused. What was she going on about? But the writing? That's what kept me going, and obviously the want to find out what this book was all about.
The writing was weirdly captivating, strangely addictive, and brilliantly different. At times is was confusing, challenging. I loved it because of it.
The message of the book was at times, for me, not portrayed the best way that it could be. I actually think, after reading the thoughts from the author in the end, that this book needed more time, more thinking. It could have been that much better. It was almost (almost) truly perfect. But in the end, it kind of felt incomplete to me.
But the writing? Gosh so wickedly good! IMHO ;)
Can't wait to read Lucy's story and I'm already going to read more from this author, like right now.
After learning a little bit about Caspian from a previous series, I was totally excited to read his story. It was fun getting to know Aurora before we got to Caspian and what makes him tick. She had a platform that she was standing behind and it is a valid one when you stop and think about it. Education is so stagnant for many public schools and with the speed that technology has brought into our lives, depending on books that are sometimes ten to fifteen years old to teach our youth is sort of repugnant.
Caspian is one of those broken men that has all kinds of walls up, but something draws him to Aurora and he basically becomes obsessed with her. There are lots of twists and turns and holding on to the edge of you seat in this book, because it is so riveting. I even appreciate the cover — the fact that it is metaphorical instead of the story being about bondage. I am soooo looking forward to Lucy's story. Absolutely great work!
I was anticipating this book for a long time now. Caspian caught my eye from the Trevor's Harem series and I was dying to know more about the good looking as*hole. As I was expecting more of BDSM in this book, I realised this one is more about psychological bondage than physical one, a good message the author is sending, if you ask me. The plot is quite interesting starting with a wager between the ruthless Caspian who thinks world is a jungle led by animals and innocent Aurora who still believes in fairies and in the fact that world can be a better place. Both are set to prove the other that the truth is on their side. From here things start to get exciting, steamy and then some. I can say hands down that this book became my favourite from everything I've read of Aubrey. I know she had some struggles to give us the right story but she totally smashed it!!! I recommend it!!
* I have received this book as an ARC in change of an honest review.
From light to darkness, Aubrey Parker brings us another thrilling story from Inferno Falls and it is sexy, dark, and beautiful. When we first met Caspian, he was a coldhearted man with a dark past. Light shines through as Aurora squirms her way into his life. More like shouts but I loved every single moment that Aubrey brought with this book.
This is a spin off of Trevor's Harem but it doesn't steer away from the sexiness.
Everyone in this story has a gag in their life. Literally and figuratively. But as these characters break through their bondage, you will fall in love with their story. Be warned that there are situations that will make you feel uncomfortable but Aubrey can make you feel situated enough to continue the story. Though I didn't like the minor characters at all, Aurora and Caspian has my heart from the Inferno Falls.
Will you take the chance to get rid of your bonds by finding your light to your darkness?
A different story plot compared to Aubrey Parker's other stories. Both characters went through a stage of denial and carried it through adulthood that turns into power and aggression for one and shame for the other. Caspian White, the billionaire who sorts of manipulates things his way became fascinated with Aurora Henley who is a virgin in her twenties because of the shame she felt when her parents punished her for exploring her sexuality. What happens when you put two people together who are totally opposite? They both bring out the worst and best traits they have and ends up in a battle of who will outdo whom and who will win base on the betting. I like that in the end both of the characters won by facing their problems head on and conquer everything, from their past to the present.
Awww the elusive Caspian White......wow he was everything I thought he would be and so much more. Talk about your control freak...he was all that and then some. Caspian was meticulous with every detail of his life so why would Aurora be any different. He may have engineered her falling into his life, but you find quickly that his love for her was immediate. This book was not a conventional love story, but that is what makes it so good!!!!!! Caspian's mind is a beautiful thing. Aurora was made for him.....naive, trusting, and shy, she never stood a chance....not that she wanted to :) I love Aubrey Parker's books because she will always surprise you and keep you guessing and she won't bring you a boring love story!
I don't know .. but it really was a turn off for me ... at first story was good .. fucked up girl as well boy hit it off but then meh :/ the thing is it reminded me too much of fifty shades of grey only it was weak story, character didn't have same harmony . I must say the author could have done better with character's feeling .. the one sentence I would use to describe it is " didn't have depth" ... but let's look at positive side .. It influence me to read it completely and at last I gasped " What the hell " but now seeing as I have already read the whole story I don't mind going through it.. ofcourse for you beings ;-)
the heroine of the story " aurora"( by the way name is beautiful
I think this was quite a step up for Aubrey Parker. The writing style and flow of the story showed tremendous amounts of improvement. While I liked the story and the metaphor that the plotline stood for, I had a bit of a hard time connecting with Caspian because he was so cold. What happens in the end, however, brings it all together and gives the reader some much needed answers as to why he is the way he is. I kept giving Aurora credit throughout the book for sticking it out with him because if I personally would be in her shoes, he would have been history at chapter two.
I give this book a well deserved 4 stars. I'll look forward to reading the next instalment about Lucy.
~*~ Received ARC in exchange for honest review ~*~ Firstly I will be honest I haven't gotten a chance to read up on the her series (Trevor's Harem) that introduced Caspian. So based on what I read in this book, Caspian is seriously disturbed. Totally understandable based on his background. Sexual chemistry between the 2 were out of this world! Bit disappointed on how he treated women, spent most of the time thinking "Dude seriously! How could you do that!!" Also I felt a bit confused during scenarios. Overall was a good read, however totally recommend you read Trevor's Harem BEFORE reading this so you don't come away confused about life
I really liked the story here, although I thought the characters changed too much, too fast. It does say this is a re-write for this author, so maybe she didn't want to draw it out too much, but for me, it was really hard to connect to characters who gave in so quickly. I would've really appreciated more of a fight from Aurora, and it would've been more interesting if Caspian & his personality didn't do a complete 180 every day, as they switched "turns". Even with the title, "Gagged", don't expect any gags, or much BDSM, because there is almost none. The "gag" is more physcological than physical. I really liked Lucy's character, and am looking forward to reading her story.
I will admit it was curiosity that made me keep reading through the beginning of this book. It was a lot of information to process and I often found myself wondering where this was all going. It wasn't until about halfway through the book that I found myself falling for Caspian and then I couldn't put the book down. The cover is a little deceiving, but once you finish the book then you will understand the symbolism behind it. This book is so much more than just two people screwed up by their parents and discovering that everyone deserves to be loved. Check out this book, you might find that you will end up enjoying it too.
Gagged...I can't even begin to describe this book and I won't say much because I don't believe in spoiler's! I will say, it's not what people will think, by the title & cover! I loved that! Also, read the author's note at the end, it explains how this book came to be called what it was & it's interesting! Now, I'm not saying that Caspian isn't hot and Aurora isn't sweet. I'm also not saying there's not sexy & hot scenes in this book! However, there's a ying/yang and and deep message! I immediately signed up to get newsletters from this author and can't wait to read more books by her!
