The Star Elite are back with a vengeance when they are called upon to investigate a gang of pick-pockets running rife across London. Their connections to London’s most notorious gang master make the investigation tricky though, especially when one of London’s aristocracy is found murdered, and is discovered by a rather mysterious lady who appears to have quite a lot to hide. Poppy Cleghorne is horrified by the downward spiral of her life she cannot stop being ruined further by her father’s selfishness. Determined to do one last deed for him before she leaves him to his own devices, she is left terrified when a series of unfortunate events leave her alone, in a park, with a corpse on her hands. Challenged by a stranger who is rather too handsome for his own good, she runs for her life, but not before she implicates herself in a murder she didn’t commit. It isn’t too long before Luke finds the curious beauty again, but he struggles to get her to confide in him about the danger that surrounds her. Unfortunately, matters are swiftly taken out of his hands when someone disappears, and several rather serious incidents happen which all point to Poppy being embroiled in one of London’s worst scandals. Before he can unravel the web of mysteries that surround her, he finds himself in a race for his life while trying to protect her from someone who wants her dead. Will his desire for her be strong enough to withstand the very sinister challenges that threaten to tear them apart? Or will trusting her bring about his downfall?
I live in Leicestershire in the United Kingdom where I currently spend my time reading, anything and everything, but mostly books about Cornish smuggling, ghosts and mysteries (Mmmm, I think there is a story there somewhere!)
My love for books has grown throughout my life, fed by my relentless daydreaming. As a child I was always told by my teachers that I daydreamed too much. As an adult, I frequently find myself reading and mentally re-writing the stories, when I read something and feel it could have been done better.
Several people have asked me what inspired me to start writing. Well, I was haunted! Literally. I had a story that just wouldn't leave me. It kept going around and around in my mind, being the first thing I thought of when I woke up, and the last thing I thought about before I went to sleep. I was driven to get the ideas down on paper, initially in a rough draft. But still the stories in my head wouldn't leave me and I soon found myself embellishing my notes and turning them into a book. Thus the Cavendish Mysteries was born. As a working mum, I spent my evenings when the children were tucked up in bed tapping away on my laptop. I still do, and find the 'muse' flows better at night without the constant interruptions of, 'mum, can I have', and 'mum, I'm hungry'.
As soon as I started writing the words flew onto the screen, and I found I couldn't stop. More and more stories came forth and I knew I had to remain true to my dream and turn my passion for writing stories into a job.
It has been a long and very bumpy road, but I do sincerely hope the stories I write bring people pleasure.
I do believe everything in life is a learning journey, put before us to enrich us as we travel life's pathway. I try to learn from all feedback received, and fully appreciate that one cannot please everyone all of the time. There will be people who love my books; in turn there will be people who hate them, but I hope that the majority of people love them.

Although I enjoyed this book I felt that it was a bit slow in terms of the plot. I like the Star Elite stories on the whole. Luke is an interesting character and Poppy develops well.
I did not enjoy this as much as her other books. The storyline was good and she painted the characters well. However 70% of the book was repeated over and over again. It became very repetitive. I totally agree with the one star reader Miss Skelton. I have purchased book 2 in the series. I will see if it makes me change my mind about not buying anymore of her books.
