Piper inherites a restaurant from her aunt that is one rent payment from failing. She has always dreamed of owning her own successful restaurant and spends all her time and energy keeping herself and the restaurant afloat. What's a girl to do?
Accept two investors offer of course! Wyatt and Owen want to invest and not just because they see Pipers potential as a chef but also as a restaurant owner. And maybe they have some other motives...
Motives that also involve Piper between them in the sheets...
AND well there's some sabotage and criminal activity happening.
Will their blossoming MFM relationship survive with Piper's restaurant or will everything go down in smoke?
This was a fun, steamy and action packed ride. I didn't love it but it was enjoyable.
If you can't handle the heat, stay out of the kitchen. Playing with Piper is a menage romance with M/F/M erotic scenes and relationship. Piper is in over her head with her restaurant. Her family sucks and is trying to sabotage her at every turn, but she's determined to make her own way and prove them wrong.
I love both Owen and Wyatt. They both have a well-developed past that helps you connect to them as a reader. They are both sexy and alpha. Fighting the temptation of Piper is nearly impossible and when they fall, they fall hard. Can they convince Piper that two is better than one?
Absolutely LOVE this book. I think of the three Playing for Love stories, this is my favorite. Lots of fun twists and turns, humor, and emotional rollercoaster rides that keep you engaged from page one. If you like menage and good old fashioned romance then you'll love this book!
I am continuing with the second book of the Menage in Manhattan series. "The Heat" is the story of Piper, Owen, and Wyatt. Each one of the characters carries baggage from his or her past, but together they conquer all. There are people throwing obstacles at them at every turn; They just have to realize that they are smarter as a triad than trying to battle them alone!! I like when books from the more steamy romance have interesting and subjects that are current to other contemporary works. The Menage in Manhattan series is different from other reverse harems I have read. I am going to continue reading the series and the other works by Tara Crescent, even the darker ones.
Just really couldn’t get into the story. Everyone had parent issues. Couldn’t get on the train with this story, didn’t really ring genuine to me. Oh well.
Very poorly written. Characters not well developed or described at all. The situations were ridiculous and unrealistic. It was like a high school girl tried to write without any real experience. It was unrealistic and painful to read.
I loved this book! It had everything...Great background story about Piper trying to make a go of her aunt's restaurant that she inherited. Of course, two hot men to help her make a go of the failing restaurant, her wealthy parents trying to convince her to come back home and give up her dream and a restaurant contest to win to help her attain her goal. Add in some suspense when odd things start happening and you have a perfect story!
I really loved Piper and Owen and Wyatt. They each had a conflict to resolve before they could truly be together.
I will definitely be reading further in this series.
We've seen a bit of Piper's struggles in the previous books, but seeing them up close broke my heart for her. Here she was gifted with a restaurant, yet her hands were tied with what she could do. Wyatt and Owen being asked to check things out and help, really did save Piper in more than one way. Piper was able to return the favor to them, so that by the end of the book all 3 were in a good place, pasts put firmly in the past and they are ready to face the future, together.
I really enjoyed Piper's story. Loved the little quotes that start each chapter, they set the mood. I felt their was a real connection between the characters and they were dealing with a lot of stuff, but they handeled it well. And the book made me hungry
There were so many times I thought to myself why am I reading this and then something interesting would happen. And then I come upon this line, "When Wyatt goes down on me, I feel one with him."
. . .
Are you fucking serious? That is the biggest load of bs I've seen/heard in a long time!
And then I was gonna read it just to see how the cooking contest turned out until a few pages later I realized I couldn't care less.
Piper has been under a lot of pressure since she inherited her Aunt's restaurant, she has a waitress that is constantly chewing gum (so not professional at all) and a cook that is drunk most nights. There was a stipulation in the will that said she cannot fire the current employees unless she is able to pay them their yearly salary as a severance package, since she is struggling there is no way she can afford to fire them or even hire new employees. In walk Owen Lamb and Wyatt Lawless, friends of Sebastian Ardalan, after some negotiations they decide to invest in Pipers restaurant and help her out but they have a few issues that Piper will have to agree to.
The attraction was there at the start but it took a while for Piper to go with her gut and give in to her fantasies. As with the rest of the books in this series, Piper, Owen, and Wyatt begin their journey into a triad relationship. They each have reasons for not wanting this to become serious but those reason are soon tossed out the window when each of them come to terms with their past. I am a big fan of Tara Crescent's books and this one has lived up to everything I have come to expect with her books, there is a LOT of sexy scenes and a great story line.
Tara Crescent is a brand new author for us and man are we glad we picked up this series. Having not read her before, we were excited and she did not let us down. We have a dirty little secret in the romance novels we read, we love m/m/f & m/f/m romances. The are so risque... taboo... naughty... but so delicious. And Tara? Knocked it out of the park.
The Playing For Love series is a three book series with standalone novels in each. We are introduced to three dynamic trios that bring steam, lust, love, intensity, and passion to the pages. The heat poured out of our kindles and lit up our panties. We swooned. We smiled. We laughed. We got angry. But most importantly, we fell madly, deeply in love.
In this third book of the series, we meet Piper, Owen, and Wyatt. Piper needs help and that comes in the form of Owen and Wyatt. They are there to refresh, update, and invest in her restaurant. She is on a mission to make it a success. But as these three spend more time together, feelings become involved. But danger is lurking and hearts are involved.
Controlling and demanding parents. A past that is blasting into the present. Secrets are threatening to be exposed. The timing couldn't be worse... or better, depending on how you look at it. One thing is for certain, the passion is burning hotter than ever between these three. Can they find love, happiness, resolution, and peace in the arms of each other?

Owen & Wyatt have baggage from their past and present involving family. Piper never stands up to her family. The three of them come together to save Piper's restaurant that he parents hope she fails at. There were too many backstory plots that didn't really go anywhere and the relationship between the three of them wasn't really fleshed out. Based on sex and they've fallen in love with her withing weeks. Piper was wishy washy and weak while Owen and Wyatt boring. A plus in the book is the women's friendship with each other throughout the series. Bailey, Piper, Wendy, Gabby, & Miki meet for their girls night and support each other
I love menage stories and Tara writes one of the best. Piper’s Story is my favourite so far and I really enjoyed getting to know Wyatt, Owen and Piper. Each characters backstories were well developed and the story of Piper’s struggles with her parents and the angst and worry with her newly inherited restaurant was so believable and identifiable for me. So far this series is amazing and I can’t wait to read Wendy’s story. Grab you copy on Kindle Unlimited today you will not be disappointed.
I’m sorry, I wanted to like this more than I did, but it’s a mix of too much and not enough.
There’re too many plot lines - juggling two backstories plus three present-day dramas is too much. You could cut out the Irish Mafia side plot completely because it goes nowhere and gets dropped for so many chapters at a time you forget it’s even there. I kept having to go back and check whose viewpoint I was in because there’re so many side characters and names thrown around that it’s hard to keep track of which plot you’re currently in.
There’s not enough relationship. The characters do a lot of talking about how much they love each other but don’t particularly show it (aside from having sex). The two men are not great romantic partners. They ask Piper to move in and later in the same conversation get mad at her for not immediately telling her parents about it. They act like immature children and it’s not sexy. There’s also no indication of the relationship between the two men, they don’t explicitly state they’re not sexually involved, and don’t really seem to have much of a bond or connection (I’m sure we’re told they’re close at some point, but again, not really demonstrated), which just feels like a strange gap. In a triad their relationship is just as important as their relationship with Piper.
And then at the very end the book seems tired of existing and just skips over the final round of the competition, which is supposed to be the big focus of the present-day story? It’s weird.
I did like Piper as a lead, more than her men. I loved the restaurant side of things, and the sabotage between competitors, but not enough to outweigh everything else.
The Heat is the third book in the Menage in Manhattan series, but could be read as a stand alone. Piper is struggling to make her restaurant and dreams a success. When Owen and Wyatt come along, offering to be partners and help, she agrees. Their chemistry sizzles just like the heat from the kitchen, but will their secrets and pasts tear them apart before a masterpiece arrives?
Oh my goodness! I’ve definitely been looking forward to reading this book since I read The Bet (book one) and I was on the edge of my seat, loving every second, and completely enthralled by this relationship! I loved Piper, Wyatt, and Owen, loved their connection, loved their passion, and loved all of the crazy events that happen during these pages! I was not expecting half of them, but once I started, I didn’t want to put this book down! Piper was so driven, but held herself back due to her parents and upbringing. I loved when she did things for herself, like running the restaurant and following her heart. Wyatt and Owen have things in their past that I was not expecting, but I loved how it shaped them into the men that Piper needed. They were protective and just as driven. I think my favorite part about this relationship was how each of them needed to be built up, and how easily they all worked together. They were definitely a team, and they needed that as they faced adversity after hurdle after challenge! I loved this book and am excited for the next in the series!
The Heat is a phenomenal contemporary romance by Tara Crescent. This is a M/F/M romance though, so it may not be for everyone. This book is written in first person, alternating point of view format. I normally hate that but this author always makes it work so well I don't even notice it. Owen and Wyatt are partners that invest in restaurants and turn them into never an empty table establishments. Piper inherited a restaurant from her aunt and thought her dreams had come true. But there were limits to what she could do and she got only negativity from her parents. Wyatt and Owen invest in Piper's restaurant and their story is full of drama, humor, steamy bits and suspense. I enjoyed reading The Heat and look forward to my next book by Tara Crescent. The Heat is book 2 of the Menage In Manhatten Series but can be read as a standalone. This is a complete book, not a cliffhanger.
This was a ménage story that was more about the 3 characters lives and their relationship and not as much about sex. It’s more a new adult romance, than hardcore erotica. Piper comes from a wealthy family but has always wanted to be a chef and run her own place. Her business is failing that she inherited from her aunt due to the severe constrictions the trust has placed on her. In walk Owen and Wyatt wanting to invest. They help her turn around the restaurant and they also find there’s heat between them. All 3 of them have their families that come to throw wrenches into their lives, but they come together to support each other and work out what’s best for them
This is my second time reading this book and it was still every bit as good. The drama and excitement is incredible and the sweet way Owen and Wyatt treat Piper is amazing.
Piper has inherited her aunt's restaurant but it seems the terms of the will are making it almost impossible for her to succeed in improving it so she can make it profitable. Then Owen and Wyatt, known in New York for their success in investing in restaurants with potential, propose a partnership to help Piper. With a sudden opportunity to participate on a reality television cooking show, Piper, Owen and Wyatt have a chance to put Piper's on the map, if they can maneuver through unknown adversaries that are intent on beating them at any cost.
Playing for Piper has to be my favorite so far in the Playing for love series. I am a huge fan of Ménage stories and Tara Crescent Nails it every single time!! Piper, Wyatt and Owen all have their own demons they have to deal with when they all come out of the woodwork. The thing they don't realize is that they don't have to go at it alone anymore... There are people throwing obstacles at them at every turn, They just have to realize that they are smarter as a triad than trying to battle them alone!! Loved this story and can't wait to dive into Wendy!!!
Three people becom business partners, face adversity together, overcome the odds together, confess and reconcile family conflicts together and fall in love with each other while doing so. Owen Lamb, Piper Jackson and Wyatt Lawless sizzle off the page as they deal with everything that's thrown at them. The road to love is not a smooth one and adding a měnage to the mix definitely creates a lot more bumps along the wat. Great characters, interesting storyline with just the right amount of intrigue and suspense mixed in.
I enjoyed Piper’s story and Wyatt & Owen were perfect for her. This story doesn’t have too much drama and nice love story and HEA but her parents are utter psychos with what they kept doing to her, how could they not think their behaviour and antics wouldn’t affect her. I like how the 5 girls are all interacting within each story supporting their friends. My only gripe is there was no bonus epilogue like there was with the previous two books for Bailey, Daniel & Sebastian & Gabby, Dominic & Carter.
The Heat – If you can’t stand the heat, get out of Piper’s kitchen. Faced with the impossible mess her family restaurant in NY is in, Piper refuses to give up and go home to Louisiana. With little support from her family, she looks to her group of girlfriends for support. She gets restaurateurs Owen and Wyatt offering their advice and some much needed encouragement. Entering her in a local tv competition sets her up against some shady characters and possible danger from all three of their pasts. Who knew cooking was so dangerous? This was so much fun! Happy Reading!
No plot spoilers No potential triggers There are no grammatical or editorial errors that I can recall. The characterisation is spot on, with individual personalities and motivators that allows the reader to form a connection. The plotline is engaging, if a little convoluted with more than a few twists and turns. There is romance, there are some sex scenes of a MFM nature. I enjoyed the book and have no problem recommending it to fans of the genre. I will be purchasing the next book in the series.
I have enjoyed the heck out of this entire series! I started with Bailey and ended with Miki! Such well written stories. I loved that each book in this series (4 books) has a certain theme in different careers,, but with such great endings! After I read the first one I had to read them all. Great work Tara Cresent! I absolutely adore this series!
