Likely a good book for a new knitter but it's bulky and doesn't lie flat if you want to use it as a reference as you're actually working. The projects themselves are clean and modern with a nice mix of color work, more complicated stitch work like cables, and more complicated shapes like socks and pullover sweaters. (No lacework, though.) I'm an experienced knitter, so didn't look through the Tools & Equipment nor Techniques sections but there are plentiful color photos and graphics for color work though the knitting directions are given row by row when some projects could be easily charted out. (Another skill for a beginner to learn.)

2.5. Eh, this was just fine. I can't quite figure out how a book so thick can have so few patterns. The ones that were there weren't particularly special. It's fine for a library copy, but not anything I'd want to add to my knitting book collection.
