What about that blurb? Pretty crazy, huh? I have to admit I was on the fence about this one and it didn't help that none of my GR's friends had read it yet. I actually had to do what I haven't done in a very long time and look at other reviews and ratings!

The story focuses on Mia, a young woman on the way to her rehearsal dinner who unfortunately, gets into an accident with a semi and ends up being in a coma...for a very long time. Sounds familiar, right? We've read books and seen movies with similar stories but not this one. Nope, there's a twist and while it's a bit far fetched...it's a doozy!

I don't want to spoil it for you so suffice it to say that when she comes out of the coma, she remembers almost everything but she also remembers some other things. Some people think she's crazy, others think she needs therapy and others just don't know what to think.

description

However, the main point of contention for Mia is...does she go with what her brain thinks or her heart?

And it was sooo hard reading about her trying to go through with her life as it was. I do have to say that at times it was a bit much and she got on my nerves. At the same time, I had to know what really happened!

And there are really only two ways it could play out so the ending wasn't unexpected but it was exactly what I hoped for!

I would recommend this book if you're looking for a soul mates type of love story and something that's just a little different.

Chasing Memories by Ellie Wade
4 stars!!!

“I am so disconnected from this life, and I know it’s because I’m not meant to be living it.”

This is one of those extremely difficult to write reviews because everything is a spoiler, but one thing I will say is that this was extremely unique to me, I loved the premise of the story and it really left me thinking at the end. This was one of those books where I would have loved an alternate ending…maybe this is something that the author may consider, because if you believe in fate and kismet…would the end result always be the same?

“The thing about fate is that it can paint the most magnificent picture with colors you didn’t even know existed, creating a truly brilliant masterpiece. We simply have to be still enough to let it happen.”

This is no run of the mill memory loss story and the way Ellie Wade delivered it was totally captivating. I was emotionally invested in the story and the characters and while on the outside looking in it may have seemed unbelievable, Ellie Wade made me believe. As I said above, this was unique to me, I personally have not read anything like it and while at times the way it was delivered was a little confusing once you understood what was happening and read a little slower it all made perfect sense. We have two stories running side by side, which in itself sounds weird, but it all ties up together, the main character is present throughout both stories and at the end Ellie Wade delivers the bigger picture.

“To me, this life feels like a dream. It’s familiar but shallow. The colors here aren’t vibrant, the emotions are dull, and the love is missing. It is a fond dream, containing some pleasant memories and people I love, but I’m dying to wake up. I’m fading…”

It was the eve of Mia’s wedding and she is involved in a car accident, she is in a coma for six months and when she wakes up nothing is how she remembered. While she can physically remember her family, she has no emotional attachment to them at all. Mia feels detached from her life in every sense of the word, nothing seems or feels right, Mia doesn’t feel as if she belongs anymore, nothing seems familiar despite the words of her family and the production of photo albums. While in her coma all Mia could think about was this “other” family she had. Her family were adamant it was all a dream but Mia was not so sure, it all seemed so real. Was this all a figment of her imagination while in a coma or was it something else entirely?

“When you wake up and realize that you’ve ruined your life over a dream, come find me. But I can’t promise I’ll still want you.”

This book was entirely written in Mia’s point of view and this really drummed home the confusion and the emotional turmoil that she was going through. Her upset at being told it was her mind playing tricks and the fact that no-one believed her. I empathised with Mia, her disappointment and her resentment towards those around her, their lack of faith and belief in her and also their nonchalance and disregard to everything that she was going through. Even though this was written in Mia’s point of view I also related to her fiancé, I actually felt for him…badly, I felt his pain and rejection, it hurt. He had the patience of a saint and despite what happened I always felt the love he had for Mia.

I cannot really say any more, I know this is vague but I really feel you need to read this for yourself the way the author intended. For me personally, the ending was a little rushed, I also felt that one part of the story would never have happened judging by what we knew about the characters and I would have liked Mia and her fiancé’s relationship expanded upon post coma, hence only a four star, but none the less, this did not detract from my enjoyment of the story. Overall this was a book I could not put down, I desperately wanted to know what happened at the end and while I got my answers I would have liked a little more.

“When the tale of my life finishes, when the book closes, I will be able to say that I truly loved with all my heart and cherished every second I had. To me, that is the definition of living.”

RECENSIONE QUI: https://thereadingslove.blogspot.com/...

3.5 stelle

ERIN'S REVIEW

This was one of the most emotional stories I have ever read. I love a book that makes you ugly cry and that is exactly what this story did to me. I used quite a few tissues mopping the tears up off my face. The storyline was unlike any I had ever read before. There were times that I was completely floored by what was going on. I can't even begin to imagine what Mia must have been going through. I developed a deep love for Aiden through the glimpses we get from Mia. His character is kind, loving, understanding, but also fun and HOT. You can't help but fall in love with Mia after reading her story. This couple has definitely left an imprint on my heart. I am a big fan of Ellie Wade and this book is the perfect example of why I flove her work so hard!

I did. And it was everything.

But if you’d experienced the joy of a once-in-a-lifetime love, you’d be chasing memories, too.

I haven't read a story quite like this one before. What I thought was going to happen didn't, what happened I never expected, and the end left so many unanswered questions for me that I kept yelling at the book hoping it wasn't really over.
Holy crap! My mind is still reeling from Chasing Memories. By the time I get to the end of a book I usually know what I want to say in a review, this one is different. To be honest, I finished a few days ago I just couldn't get my heart and head to come together to formulate a coherent thought, that's how much the book effected me.

Let me ask you this, Do you believe in fate? I wasn't so sure I did, but I may be rethinking that now. "Sometimes, it’s difficult to abandon the dreams we want for ourselves, but when we do, we open the door for our fate to arrive."

This is the first book by Ellie that I have read and I was blown away. She definitely has a gift and is not afraid to use it. This story was emotional, magical and had all the elements that will make you remember why you love to read. I was a little disappointed at the abruptness of the ending, but that did not deter from my overall love of the book and its wonderful characters.

Some authors seem to struggle with writing a story that a key element is the telling of dual story lines, but Ellie has successfully mastered it and give writers a miraculous story of love, hope and the belief that anything is possible.

I'm about to become the minority, but this book just didn't do it for me. I typically really like all of Ellie's books, but I TRULY couldn't get into this one.
I really hated that Grayson wasn't more "charming" than he was....it was almost TOO predictable and easy for her. Then the whole "predicting my future" thing....it just didn't work. I was really looking forward to reading this, but I found myself skipping through the majority.

Mia wakes up from a coma. A six-month coma. She's not the same woman who, on the night before her wedding, gets in a horrific car accident. Before, she and Greyson, together for 8 years, were a couple and supposedly happy. Post-coma, she and Aiden are in love, married with kids. The only problem, Aiden and their little family don't exist except in her mind.

She no longer has an emotional attachment to her "old" life, she doesn't love her fiancé Greyson anymore. She feels completely disassociated from that life. Greyson and her family believe she's ill, that she has dreamed up another life while in a coma. Regardless, crazy or not, she takes a leap of faith and decides to find Aiden, but she has no last name, no address, no identifying details, only memories she is chasing of her green-eyed soul mate.

I wanted her to find Aiden, I wanted him to be real. NO SPOILERS. I had no love for Greyson, much like Mia, and found him to be selfish and unsupportive. Is it fair? Maybe not, but I did not like him. Mia's mother wanted her to stay with Greyson no matter what, even when Mia caught him in a compromising situation with a coworker, her mom still told her to stay. Not a big fan of mom's advice, but it illustrates why Mia stayed with him so long, thinking she had the best and couldn't do better.

This book was really two parallel stories in one, Mia's life before Aiden and her life after him. I found myself holding my breath, is Aiden real, did she go to heaven, did she time travel, is this a premonition, is it fate? So it's fiction, so it's unbelievable, I still had faith, I believed in Aiden. I loved the snowflakes, I loved the fudge, all the "memories" were beautiful, passionate, and worth fighting for.

I really liked his book. The writing was so fluid, not too much description vs dialogue. It made me feel - angst, passion, anticipation, heartbreak, desperation, true love. Everyone needs this kind of romance in their lives, we all should be so lucky to find "Aiden."

Chasing Memories is the newest stand alone novel by Ellie Wade. It's completely different from anything else she's written and more unique than anything I've read. I have to be completely honest here, while I really wanted to connect, I had a very hard time connecting with the characters. I understand the reasoning for going back and forth between the present and the dreams Mia was having, but it was very hard to keep up with the storyline. It felt like things kept shifting and I had a hard time following along with what was going on. The constant shifting from one male character to the next with each chapter had my head spinning.

"Air fills my lungs. I’m met by the most striking emerald eyes I’ve ever seen. Simply stunning. An immense love permeates my body, pushing out all the fear."

This is sort of a mysterious book, I can't really state the synopsis since it might give away too much. Mia wakes up from coma and nothing is how it should be. Mia has to find herself again and figure out how she wants to live her life. I wish I could have connected more with Mia, it was hard to relate with her feelings since I struggled to connect with the main character as well. If you like angst and mystery, you will enjoy this book. It did keep me on my toes until the end when I finally found out who Mia ended up with. While I really wanted to love this, as I've loved all of Ms. Wade's other books, It just didn't do it for me.

I was honored to have beta read this story for Ellie. I absolutely loved it. It was an interesting view of the love interest. I haven’t ever come across another story like it. It was beautifully unique. I love Ellie’s writing but this book blew me away. I can always count on Ellie to capture the characters emotions and allow the readers to easily relate. It’s why she is one of my favorite authors.

The cover is absolutely beautiful and i think it matches the story so amazingly well. The flow of the story was wonderful. I was quickly intrigued and didn’t want to put the book down for anything!

I felt sorry for Mia. Having to live her life while being so confused and heartbroken. My heart broke for the poor girl. I'm so glad that she got to a point where she didn’t care about everyone’s opinion. She became strong enough to do what she felt was right and followed her heart. She made me so proud!

What would you do if you woke up from a six month coma and had lived six years of your life with a husband, a family, a life that just disappeared? You remember every detail of your life with your soulmate but you cannot find him.
That's what happens to Mia and this is her highly emotional journey to find her way back to the family she experienced while in the coma.
It's a trying journey but filled with emotion, strength, hope and faith.
I don't know what to write to do this book justice, it's amazing from beginning to end. Believing in something when everyone else thinks you've lost your mind, having the faith to never stop searching. It's truly one of the best books I've read this year and while it's my first from Ellie Wade I look forward to delving into her backlist asap.

As soon as I read the blurb for this book I knew Ellie would give us another one...
Another book that grips us, surprises us, makes us laugh, makes us smile. Another swoonworthy book boyfriend (Adien is definitely giving Andrés a run for the number one spot) Another strong female lead that isn't afraid to follow her heart. Another unique storyline. Another book brimming with feelings.
Another win by Ellie Wade. 4.5 stars

In compenso, è un romanzo d'amore ben confezionato e molto romantico, a tratti toccante (in qualche scena qua e là).

Ellie has written a beautiful and heart breaking story about a woman who has an accident and when she wakes up her entire life changes. I so want to go into more detail about the story, but don't want to ruin any part of it for you. It's one that you have to experience for yourself. I loved every bit of this story and couldn't put it down until the very end.

I give Chasing Memories 5 hearts!

OMG what a book!!

Such a heartfelt and moving read!!

The concept is not new in anyway, but the book really captured all the emotions and feels.

Loved Mia, poor girl, suffered so much but loved her strength and unwillingness to let others make her think otherwise.

I don't want to say too much as it would ruin it for others!

All I have to say now is READ IT!

Chasing Memories is a heartfelt story of one woman, the man she has loved most of her life and who will soon be her husband. It is also the story of the man who haunts her dreams, making her question everything she has ever known to be true.

The main characters in this story Mia, Grayson and Aiden are written with intense realism. So easy to relate with, you feel as though they are lifelong friends. The storyline was captivating. A horrible accident, the lingering effects it has on not only the victim but her family and friends is brought to life by the author’s wonderful talent at storytelling.

I found the story of Mia, Grayson and Aiden very compelling. While the basic storyline idea has been written before, there was something unique in the way Ellie Wade brought it to life. Perhaps it was the way the author brought the emotions of the characters to life. Or it could have been the ease of her writing style. I can’t quite put my finger on it, but I will say the author did make Chasing Memories an enchanting, heartbreaking, heartwarming story which I enjoyed immensely.

The interaction between the characters was spot on perfection. The dialogue, the physical actions and reactions, the utter heartbreak, despair and the desperation to bring what most believed was a dream to reality was fabulous. I found myself settling into the story but do admit my mind was at war with the words I read and what I wanted to happen. Strategically placed twists and turns added a wonderful element to the storyline. Adding to that was that one line, one moment in the book that had me stop and pause. For me that was the defining moment. The moment where everything became crystal clear in the most shocking and surprising way. A very clever twist in the storyline on the author’s part. Creative, fun and definitely a thought-provoking moment, the story took flight and carried on.

Chasing Memories is a story that allows you to view your past from a different perspective. It doesn’t sugar coat, hide or define the change in feelings that occur from living in the moment. It allows you a second chance to push past what you bury deep inside. Memories haunt and you realize that there is more to life than the one you have been living. Chasing Memories was a fun, interesting story filled with surprises. I enjoyed this book and would recommend it to others who enjoy a good love story with a twist.

Chasing Memories is an interesting look at the phenomenon of what could happen if one woke up and no longer recognized the life in which one lived. It is quite surreal and more than a little strange. I enjoyed the concept but struggled with the execution. My need to see how this plot resolved was intense. It kept me reading until the very end.

This novel tested my limits as a reader in the way the main character, Mia, was so committed to memories of a man she had never actually met and a life she never lived outside of her mind. In this respect I felt like many of the supporting characters in this book. I was frustrated in understanding how Mia created this world she was so sure of. I did enjoy reading about her memories and the relationship she had with Aiden and their children. I wanted her to have that life.

The interactions with Mia, her family, and her fianceé were tumultuous. I felt quite put out for her in her dealings with her mother and Grayson. I loved her relationship with her sister and niece. The way this story reinforces that love and support are essential to healing is a sentiment that I heartily appreciate.

I also appreciate this author's willingness to experiment with a concept that is so very difficult to execute. The alternation between Mia's present and her memories is a tough world to navigate. It makes for and interesting read.

This one didn’t really work for me. I wanted to love this book because the premise was fascinating to me, but it just didn’t come together. Our heroine Mia, gets into a car accident and falls into a coma for 6 months. When she wakes up, she believes she’s 6 years older than she is and is married with 3 kids. She is desperate to find the man she fell in love with while she was in her coma. She’s very resistant to all of the people in her life who are trying to help and support her. I honestly felt really bad for everyone involved (except Grayson). I’m glad we got our HEA, but the flashbacks with Aiden didn’t give me enough insight into him as a person so I never felt connected to their relationship. This one was a miss for me.

I read the reviews and all being vague left me unsure if I wanted to try this one. I took a gamble and it paid off. I think it’s definitely an enjoyable and good read.
I agree with others. This is one of those books where you can’t really say anything about it otherwise it will give it away.
Mia is living a fantastic life until a crash abruptly slows thing to a halt. Waking from the coma, things are different. Different feelings, different experiences, expectations. Things have changed. She’s in for a battle to figure out who she really is and where she wants to be.

Woah.. 5 stars

This book was so good such an emotional read. This is my first book by this author and will not be my last.

I have not read a storyline like this so different. I wasn't sure what was real and what wasn't what was Mia feeling if that was real. This book pretty hard to review as I don't want to spoil it for anyone I suggest going in blind I was really surprised by it.

Very well written.
