The Messier objects really are no objects in the sense that Messier a comet cátcher, catologued his guide of sky objects that are fuzzy patchs but no comets, with the goal other comet cátchers dont be mistaken, the objects are :open clusters, globular clusters ,planetary nébulas, remains of supernova explosions and galaxies

At first thre were 103 objets but late were accpted 110, as Messier dont catalogued they explicitally

The book beautiful printed and with beautiful pictures, makes a brief history and biography of Messier and descibe one by one each object, with his history, his astropysical decription and advice for better observation with small telescopes, as mínimum aperture needed and location in the sky
