Ghile, the young shepherd, has been thrust into the Soulstone Prophecy. The two artifacts he acquired have given him godlike powers, which he struggles to control.
To protect his loved ones, Ghile escapes with his new Gaidel, the young druid, her shieldwarden, Two Elks the barbarian, and Riff the sorcerer.
Their plan is to search for answers in Dagbar's Freehold. But soon, Ghile feels the growing pull of the other soulstones, and the mysterious girl who visits him in his dreams.
★★★★★ - "Brilliant and captivating, Time of the Stonechosen is set in a vivid world with layered characters and non-stop adventure."
★★★★★ - "Great character development. A unique story and take on the usual fantasy world."
At the age of thirteen Thomas read his first novel, Dune, by Frank Herbert. That was the spark that ignited his passion for reading. It was the popular fantasy Dragonlance novels by Tracy Hickman and Margaret Weis which cemented his love of fantasy. He feels if even one person reads his work and experiences that seed of excitement he still experiences from a good science fiction or fantasy read, it will all have been worth it.
Where have you been?! I've been reading fantasy since the beginning of the year and I didn't see this! I'm glad I finally found and read it. I look forward for the third. So in love with this author right now. The action was great, the writing, to me at least, perfect. There was no elementary school writing in this book. I like the way the hero still has a conscious despite the power he now has. I really recommend this book to everyone!
I liked this a lot. Truly feels like the beginnings of an epic tale. One can see the obvious (even cheeky) WoT inspiration, but this is definitely its own thing too, with much promise (and dare I say, more balanced writing?).
If I had a problem, it would be the way MC was a bit too trusting, immediately believing the opps -- the same people that essentially decimated and subjugated his race -- when they revealed his god is quite Hungry after all, never mind all the previous "revelations" from the druids. I suppose the boy was bamboozled by all the light and ass they were flashing, imagining them incapable of guile -- typical elven simpage.
He should've retained some skepticism, since anything that (further) puts the Stonechosen at odds with each other and the druids meant to support them, is clearly in the opps' interests, and such a scheme could arguably be hiding under all their stories.
It's not until near the end that he gets something resembling proof that they were right after all -- not that he seemed to need it, since he already believed.
Anyways, on to the next whenever that's out.

I enjoyed this. Following on from the first in the series, Cradle of the Gods, it expanded on the plot, the characters and the world created by the author. I liked the take on the mythical creatures: an off kilter look which brought humour as well. What I found annoying, was the plot sometimes hurried a little. Some details were skimmed over: I'm not going to give spoilers, but the end also happened all of a sudden, to my mind. It is still a great read: the characters are more developed; the plot twists are still twisty; there are nice leads into the next instalment. I await this with interest!
Amazing world building and lore! I love the development and growth of our main character, Ghile. The book starts off right were book one ended with a dive into the thoughts of our evil dwarven overlords, who many not be as evil as we were lead to believe! Everything happens for a reason and everything is remembered through the haze of time. Time of the Stonechosen does an amazing job leading the reader through a journey of history, magic, and adventure. With even a little love as our hero's fight for what they believe in and grow.
This second book of the Stonchosen series is just as amazing as the first. The characters are well written and evolve as the story plays out. The descriptive locations and dialogue are rich with imagery. I would compare this series with the works of Anne McCaffrey, Terry Brooks, Terry Goodkind, and David Eddings. All amazing writers who created legendary works, as I believe this series will become as well. Can't wait for the next book!
While I really liked the first book, this second in the series is even better and has made me a true fan. I was particularly I impressed with the nuances of characters (old and new) and the original twists in the mythology that directly impact our heroes. Looking forward to Book 3.
