Nothing draws a magnate like a steel magnolia...Harley Cade is back in town-and the former bad boy is downright irresistible now that he's donned a hard hat and set to work restoring the South's finest homes to their former grandeur. While wealth may have gained Harley entry into high society, it's going to take a lot more than a fat bank account to win the lovely Laney Tarrington.

Laney isn't open to giving the self-made magnate a second chance-no matter how much she needs him. With her family fortune gone, Laney finally has to stand on her own two feet. The last person she'd ever lean on is Harley, the man who left her behind with nothing more than memories of the passion they once shared....

With the attraction still burning hot between them, Harley isn't above seduction-or secretly buying Laney's bankrupted family's estate. After all, he no longer has to prove himself to anyone, least of all the daughter of Mobile, Alabama's most prestigious family. But will pride keep Harley from gaining the biggest prize of all-a place in Laney's heart? Maggie Wells is a deep-down dirty girl with a weakness for hot heroes and happy endings. By day she is buried in spreadsheets, but at night she pens tales of people tangling up the sheets. Fueled by supertankers of Diet Coke, Maggie juggles fictional romance and the real deal by keeping her slow-talking Southern gentleman constantly amused and their two children mildly embarrassed. They are the food purveyors to a demanding dog and an impertinent house rabbit she claims is the love of her life. Shh. Don't tell her husband. Harley Cade had been chasing his southern belle Laney Tarrington forever but when he finally caught her attention he got scared and ran. Moving across the country to expand his business Harley left for six months. Laney during that time battled a lot of personal issues and had the devastating loss of her mother to cancer.

When Harley returned to his home town he wanted nothing other than to win back Laney's heart as his time away told him for sure she was the one for him. Laney however was determined not to let Harley break her heart again. Now that Harley has made his business a success though he is determined to win the girl of his dreams no matter the cost.

For me with Flip This Love my rating came down to the characters. Starting off the story I felt for Laney and her loss and the heartbreak that Harley had caused her when he left and Harley seemed too cocky and kept flaunting his money around that I didn't want to like him. Somewhere along the line though my feelings completely flipped. Laney was acting like nothing but a spoiled brat and I was starting to wish Harley would find someone who would treat him better.

I think if there hadn't quite of been as much back and forth between the pair I may have ended with a better feeling overall for this one. The writing was good, the situation was good, the characters though had too much back and forth to make me really root for them as a couple. In the end I just found this kind of average, it had a nice ending but a little less arguing and temper tantrums in the middle would have been a lot more likable in my opinion.

Flip This Love by Maggie Wells strikes the perfect balance between smart and steamy. Add in two truly likeable main characters, as witty and accomplished as they are outwardly attractive, and we’ve got another winner on our hands from the Coastal Heat series.

In this title, the author masterfully handles inner conflict, delving into the characters’ family dynamics and even pertinent high school experiences. Furthermore, the story itself features my favorite kind of hero—a self-made entrepreneur who works with his hands and who treats his mother like a queen. Harley Cade also pursues the heroine with near-singular focus, at the same time holding her accountable for any unfair or juvenile behavior. Yet even then, he does so with care.

The heroine’s backstory is that of surviving her family’s fall from grace. At the novel’s beginning, the state of Laney Tarrington’s finances, and of her emotional support system, leaves much to be desired. Nevertheless, a strong woman emerges from the debris of her family’s crumbling empire. As a reader, I sympathized with and admired the heroine’s efforts to better her situation on all fronts.

In reading this novel, it became very clear to me that writing is a craft for Maggie Wells—something she makes look easy, ironically due to the care and effort she puts into each element, from word choice to pacing to sentence structure. For anyone with reservations about third person point of view, this author delivers as well as or better than anyone out there. And I say that as a firm proponent of the first-person narrative.

Like the first in the series (Going Deep), etiquette, tradition, wealth and bloodlines, and “saving face” reign supreme in this southern setting. Another pattern I’ve noticed is the way the author makes eating (esp. with one’s hands) a sexy act. In Going Deep, it’s the rib eating scene I’m thinking of; in Flip this Love, it’s crawfish. Both are messy, both undeniably sexy with Wells’ flavor sprinkled in.

All in all, another great read from an author I’m keeping my eye on!

I received an advanced copy of this book from the publisher via Netgalley in exchange for an honest review. The expected publication date is April 26, 2016.

This is the second story in the Coastal heat series. I have had the opportunity to read the first one Going Deep and was anxious to see what this one had to offer. No worries for those who have not read the first story. This can be read as a stand alone as the first story features Laney's best friend Brooke.

This is a pretty short story so there is not a lot one can say without giving away the whole thing.

I was interested in the direction the story was taking with Laney's new business venture as it was something that hit home with me. Anything that will assist those with terminal illness will make the world a better place. This showed the substance of her character. The unfortunate thing is that the this was not the focus of this story and we saw the other side of Laney the majority of the story.

This was the shallow, spoiled & insecure Laney. I really started to dislike her towards the end. What started out as the standard cat and mouse game between Laney and Harley and was entertaining quickly became old to me. Throughout I felt Harley was too good for Laney and that he should just give up the chase. He was simply too good for her and she wasn't worth the effort. I get that she had demons she was battling but she just seemed clueless.

For those who like their stories steamy, this book offers it up in spades. I would say that over 50% of the story is devoted to the time between the sheets. Maybe this is why I didn't feel the emotional connection. The story was simply too short to build on more than the physical chemistry.

I have to admit I was a little disappointed with this read

Before I say anything else, I need to confess that I'm hopelessly in love with Harley Cade. There. I said it.

Now, let me tell you why. He's big, solid, sexy as hell, smart as a whip, and one hell of a businessman. Who wouldn't want a piece of that? Well, Laney Tarrington doesn't...at least not at first. She's had more than her fair share of heartbreak and humiliation in her life, and Harley certainly played his part in that. But despite their shaky past, circumstances continue to throw them together until...fireworks! In every possible way. They fight. A lot. And I love that because it makes them real.

“I trust you,” she repeated. “And if you make me regret it, I think you should know that I really do have my daddy's twenty-two in my closet at home. If I go down, I’m taking you out too.”

But the making up is always, always delicious.

'He’d gotten a yes out of her, and one yes was all he needed. For now. Keeping that in mind, he kissed her again, taking the time to savor the sensation of being loved by Delaney Tarrington.'

The supporting cast of characters is fabulous too, and the southern setting is like a character unto itself. It's so wonderfully described throughout that you truly feel like you’re right there in the thick of it, along for every minute the ride. What I love most about Flip are the messages within - be brave, go after what you want, and fight for what’s right. I definitely flipped for this book, and I know you will too!

Harley, Harley, Harley how to describe him well he's sweet, but at the same time he could be a smarta**, “you’re awful damn worried about how I spend my money. Think about it, sugar. Be my girlfriend, and I’d be willing to let you spend some of it for me. I know you like dresses and stuff. Hell, I’d even spring for shoes, even though you know trash like me doesn’t bother much with them.” Harley can be a blunt man, “I wanted to eff you on my desk today,” he said, his voice rough with suppressed need... I wanted to leave your pretty dress on and eff you six ways from Sunday.” He's not a shy boy, “I’m crystal clear on it.” He graced her with a smile, then thrust his hand into his loosened jeans. “I need to get a couple things sorted before we get to the heavy petting.” She grinned as she watched him rearrange the goods, then button and buckle them away." I really liked this book I fell in love with Harley.

Harley’s second chance with Delaney.
Harley has been pursuing Delaney and she was playing hard to get until one night she decided to give in to Harley however that didn’t end well. After one night with Laney, he left for LA without saying a good bye.
after 6th months, Harley comes back and pursues Delaney again however, tables have turned. Now he is wealthy businessman and Laney was sales clerk at Sassafras. while Harley was gone, she lost her mother to a cancer and she is in verge of losing her house as well.
Laney feels attractions to Harley but she was burned once and that was enough for now. Laney is struggling financially and Sassafras will be sold soon. Afraid of losing everything, she comes up with a business plan however she needs someone to back her business..
Only person with enough money to back her up would be Harley. Putting her pride aside, she is asking for Harley to be her business partner. Once they were face to face, chemistry between them were more than Laney could handle. Finally Laney gives into her attraction but how long will this one last? Will Harley leave again?

It was short and fast. If you enjoy reading short romance, this is quick and second chance at love.

Harley is a self made success. He went from living in poverty with his single mother to flipping houses in the richest neighborhoods. He bought his mother a real home and is looking to make one for himself.

Laney comes from old money but her father lost it all. Every bit. Unfortunately her pride was not lost and she still isn't willing to date beneath her class. At least that is how she comes off to Harley. He has been chasing after her for years and now believes that his financial status should make wooing Laney a piece of cake.

Laney decides to try to change her fate by starting a new business. One problem, she will need an investor. How can she ask Harley for money while turning down his romantic advances?

Laney is hard to like. Why Harley cannot move on to someone who actually wants to date him is baffling for most of the book. He is super sexy with real work-made muscles and a fun personality. The money helps, but he hasn't learned not to let it define him yet. #newmoneytroubles

Really loved this one! Not even sure why, Harley's a bit gruff and self assured, at least that's how he appears at first but as the story goes on and you get to see bits of his past you understand why he is the way he is. Laney gave him a chance when they were younger and he broke her heart. A repeat of that - no way!! Harley's determined though and he plans to show her exactly how good they could be together if she'd just give him another chance.

These two just seemed like oil and vinegar at the beginning but eventually they won me over. Witty banter and the lowering of walls really had me liking these two and wanting to see them together. In the end it was a book that made me happy so in my opinion that's the sign of a good read. This is one I would definitely recommend.

I may have become a member of the mile-high club as I was reading this spicy story at 32,000 feet. Whoa, Harley and Laney have really got the chemistry going on in this sexy love story. Harley, with his eyes the "smooth, clear green of old fashioned Coca-Cola bottles" is the boy from the wrong side of the tracks who's made good. Delaney, once a spoiled princess, now understands the need to work to pay the mounting bills of her family. When their paths meet again, sparks, words, and clothing fly!

This title is the second of the "Coastal Heat" series. (The first is Going Deep.) I love being able to catch up with favorite characters from previous books! And I really look forward to seeing who gets to shine in the next book of the series.
