This ebook is a very different take on goal setting. It focuses on creating habits, knowing yourself, and creating a path to happiness. It takes a negative stance on visualization and positive thinking. Rather, it invokes the pen and pencil, the habit of working towards a goal, boosting motivation naturally, and making smarter (not S.M.A.R.T.) goals for yourself.
One of the best examples given is: You have a goal to reach the peak of the mountain, but you hate climbing. How the heck are you going to get there then?
It also came with a workbook, which I am in the process of downloading and fiddling with. I will update when I've gone through it (it's free, but it's also a way for the author to collect emails) and let you know if it helped in any way.
Even though the book has a few interesting ideas, the workbook link doesn’t work thus the book was useless for me.
After reading each chapter we should complete something in the workbook as an exercise, but since the link doesn’t work we obviously can’t do that, and the book becomes a little useless in this concept, since having the workbook attached to the book is a big factor to our success if we complete it. Which we can’t complete since the link doesn’t work. I don’t know if it used to work and then the link changed but the author should somehow update the link in the book.
Searching other reviews I can see that a lot of people are complaining about the link not working but the author doesn’t do anything about this thus I am definitely giving it a 1 star instead of a 2 stars than I thought of giving it.
Excellent and very useful! Clean, easy-to-understand language with mild humour, all used perfectly. Like all of the great books I've read (this one's at #3 now, btw), the central idea is simple, and is put across in a manner that many people might brush aside, saying it is 'merely stating the obvious'. But the books that have made the biggest difference to people, are just that. Like life itself, built best around fundamental blocks and reinforced with sound logic. Brilliantly done, Martin! A highly recommended book (and workbook)!
In the few pages of this book you will find some interesting teachings and concepts that will make you think about your goal setting process. It focuses on habits but doesn't go deeper into the building of character and raising your standards. I could not give it a 5 star rating due to it size and introductory character but I do recommend it for a read!
Who said you need a 200 page book to convey some simple concepts. This one is straight to the point and deliver the message in just 20 mins.. Wow.. now the hard part of putting things into practice.
It's a good read on how actions and short term focus is important as well. But I would recommend not to tear down the vision board anytime sooner. If you solve the short term obstacles, then u need the final vision to see how far you still are from the end goal.
Martin Kaye has managed to sieve through the gibberish that most motivational books provide in a short, concise manner. I found this book both helpful and encouraging. Thanks, Martin. You should charge for this gem.
The book itself is basic, and like many of this type, is very short and directs the reader to the author's website for additional paper tools to use. These are decent, and the admonition to write it down on paper is well received. Worth a quick scan.
The whole book is based on using the workbook and then when you press the link to download it, you are connected to a website that has ads and not the workbook.
After more than 30 years of studying popular goal setting and motivational materials, one that finally explains why none of them really worked. Using the workbook and the techniques in this book,I'm going to give it 60 days and will edit this review with my results.
