Mini-review: Good. Kind of weird. Loved the ending. Kind of feel like I'm cheating review a single comic instead of a bind-up.
First of all, I'm not in the habit of reviewing individual issues these days, and particularly not when they're part of an ongoing crossover event. And this is really just a tease to get the expected audience wound up and excited. Second of all, I've not been very impressed with Marvel's track record on their crossover events. But having said that, I'd did enjoy Jonathan Hickman's Secret Wars (DC has, in my opinion, an even worse track record). So I thought I'd give this new crossover event a swing and see what happens. It is exactly what I expected it would be: a tease to get the reader wound up and excited. Well, done. What I find particularly interesting is that the use of a dealing with criminals as presented here is interestingly similar to the methods developed by and employed so effectively by Doc Savage all the way back in the 1930s. Sure, this method has been updated and modernized for comic book readers as much as it has been reworked to function within the context of Marvel's pseudo-science. Nothing wrong there, it just makes the implications of the story that much more interesting. I'll certainly be sticking around to see how it plays out.
"You know, you remind me of someone I used to know. A guy with-shall we say-mixed reviews. Not entirely his fault, understand - his friends would say he never got a fair shake. That he never really had a choice. But bottom line is, he left quite a trail of bodies in his wake."
An intriguing idea that pulls off a dramatic last page that changes the context of the entire read. There are a few things that don't add up, so verdict is still out on whether these elements come into play later, or if they were simply there for a bit of fun or careless writing.

The main storyline (5 issues) of this series may equal my favorite arc of Marvel's to date. But then with the Captain America trifecta is that a surprise?
