BOO! It's time for the big Halloween party at the Animal Rescue Center, but some of the animals haven't arrived yet! Diego and Baby Jaguar must venture out into the rainforest to gather up their guests! Young Diego fans will love this Halloween-themed, shaped board book.
The consignment store my mother volunteers at got hundreds of these as a donation, so she brought out a couple for the boys.
The book features Diego from the "Go Diego Go" tv series. In this book, he needs to find five animals for his Halloween party. First he describes each animal to let the reader guess what it is. The animals are (spoiler alert) a bat, a wolf, a crocodile, a tarantula and a jaguar. That is one creepy-ass party Diego is having. In fact, I think the story improves if you drop the animal rescue backstory and instead imagine Diego as an eccentric rich kid who feels a need to have a bunch of exotic animals at his party.
The only reason it doesn't fall to one star is my low expectations for kids' books.
This book was to much like the television show for my liking. It wasn't much of a storybook but more of an interactive book. There wasn't much of a story to it, so I used it more to point out things and sight recognition stuff for my 3 year old granddaughter.
