I own this the Haley's and the Baker Illustrated handbook. This one I like about as much as the Haley's and I find they complement themselves every well there are times the Haley's is lacking and the Unger picks up the slack and the opposite has been true. Both are weak in historical context (background) compared to the Baker Illustrated Handbook. Haley's and Unger is more about historical findings that support biblical events and the baker is about the climate of the time when the gospels where written. I use all three when studying the bible but he Haley's and the Unger have a similar goal and complement each other well.

A complete survey of the entire Bible in one book. Many parts of it, as is the case with any survey, it can be difficult to get through. However, the Gospels were particularly exciting and interesting. The book itself is of the highest quality of content. Well thought out, passage by passage, the obvious result of a lifetime of learning. An invaluable asset in any Theologian's library.

I was in the hunt to find a bible study guide that gives historical info. and acts as a resource for the bible. I checked both Unger and Halley's. I decided to go with Halley's. Halley's was more compact.
