I'm a bit of a neat freak. I have my reasons. Call it OCD. Call it dealing with the past. Call it whatever you like. I call it keeping life nice and tidy. An act of arson to the hot fireman's unit next to mine makes my life messy. Real messy. What was I supposed to do? He's needed a place to stay and I had a spare bedroom. You see I've been into Eli Grayson for some ...more

The "duh" gif above was because I read anything and everything firefighter related. But now the "duh" gif is more about me being speechless. This book was bad. Not "offend my sensibilities" bad, but bad none the less.
I'll write a review when I can figure out how to express myself. ...more

Wow, to say I didn't like this is an understatement :-/. All over the place and just ... odd :-/. I MIGHT decide to give one more book a try and if that one doesn't work either, I'll know it's time to call it quits for good where Kris Cook is concerned.

While this is the third book in this series, it could be read as a standalone. Personally, I'd recommend reading the first two in the series before starting this one as I think you'll get more enjoyment from this that way.
Here in The Fireman in Unit C, we get a bit of drama with the suspense and mystery surrounding whoever is setting the fires in the community. It hits right at home for the Mockingbird Place residents, and while you might think there's an obvious culprit, there's enough doubt to ...more

If you have not read the below I would recommend reading those books(s) first
The Marine in Unit A (Mockingbird Place, #1)
The Cowboy in Unit E (Mockingbird Place, #2)
I thought I could jump into series on the third story and be okay but that is not the case. You get to know about all the people in the community along the way so when I picked up this book I was a little lost. These two men are both carrying around there own issues. I really enjoyed this one. Mockingbird Place is a tight knit group of people. I like the different dynamics of the people who live there. Jackson and Eli have had sparks flying, but never acted on it. After someone sets Eli's place on fire it brings those two closer together. True feelings are realized, but will Jackson's past prevent him from a future with Eli. Things escalate with the arsonist where lives on the line. The waffling of Jackson was a little on the annoying side, but I truly under

Set your heart on fire with this one in the Mockingbird Place series. Just when you think that these stories cannot get any better, Kris one ups the story and keeps you wanting to read this all in one sitting.
This is Jackson and Eli's story. They both like each other, but skirt around each other dealing with their own drama. Jackson has a major OCD issue based upon his past and Eli has an ex that cannot deal with the word, "EX". Unfortunately, for Eli his apartment is set on fire by someone and ...more

Hearts on Fire...
I loved revisiting Mockingbird Place. All the residents are close knit friends and have each others' backs. The Fireman in Unit C is the third book in the series that I have read so far.
Eli and Jackson are made for each other, but they don't see it yet. Jackson has OCD issues and feels no man would want to take that on in a relationship. Jackson had a tough childhood and is still coming to grips with the fallout. He needs someone who will love him despite everything that has led ...more

Fires for the Fireman
An entertaining story of a couple with baggage that find love. Protagonists Eli, the title character, and Jackson, a student nextdoor, face challenges separately and together, as their bond forms. Both characters are drawn well, the plot moves along well and the Dallas setting is nicely visual.

On the surface this is a fake marriage for the sake of baby Daryl. But it is not so fake to either man as they work together to build a family based on love.

We're back at Mockingbird Place and it's Jackson's turn at finding love. He's got someone in mind, but before he can open himself up to finding his HEA, he needs to sort through some of the baggage that he carries.
However, his problems get pushed to the back of his mind when he discovers that Eli, the sexy fireman in Unit C, is trapped inside the apartment going up in flames.
Until Eli can get his unit back to normal he moves in with Jackson. He has been infatuated with him for a while but he als ...more

Judging a Book by it's Cover:
Evening city skyline below lead characters. Synopsis sounds chaotic, crazy and fun!
Looking Deeper:
First Person POV, Jackson's perspective.
Jackson suffers OCD as a result of childhood shame and guilt over his hoarder mother. He's a bit neurotic and manic, too. He's also studying to become a psychologist. Eli lives next door. He's a fireman. When a firebug targets Eli's unit, Jackson opens his doors to Eli without hesitation. Both ...more

I really like this series so far and can not wait to read more.
However, I really miss multi pov with these books. The only time they show a multi pov is in the last 2 chapters. I need it throughout. Give me what both main characters thoughts and feelings are. Show me their depth. Give me something to become emotionally attached to. With a single pov, it's hard to grow an attachment to both characters.

Even though this is the third book in the series The Mockingbird Place, I went ahead and jumped on reading it for the blog tour. It can be read all on its own, except I don't really recommend it. After an arsonist sets Unit C on fire, Jackson offers to share his own unit with sexy fireman Eli. However attracted Jackson is to Eli, he's not too sure about giving into his feelings, seeing as Eli's ex is still very much present in Eli's life and Jackson is dealing with a lot of emotional baggage himself. As if that wasn't enough, the arsonist seems to be fixated on Eli, although is he who the real target is?

This my third book that I've read by Kris Cook and I must say that I have thoroughly enjoyed each and everyone of his story's. This story will have some twists and turns throughout the story that you won't expect. This is Eli and Jackson's story and what a touching story it is, the story opens with the worse nightmare that anyone can have and that is a terrifying house fire. Eli just happens to be a fireman and he's the victim of arson and then there's Jackson who steps up as a good neighbor and

Eli & Jackson have been a part of this series from the beginning. I was excited to read their story and watch them fall in love...though I think they’d already fallen, they just needed help getting together.
There are definitely some twists and turns in this novel that I didn’t see coming. As a reader, I had expectations for certain characters and they completely blew me out of the water...I had no idea what was going to happen next sometimes.

The Fireman in Unit C was the first I've read in the Mockingbird Place series, so each book can be read as a stand alone - but after reading Fireman - I will definitely be going back to read the others in the series.
Kris does a good job of bringing you into the inner circle of the friends that all live at Mockingbird place. You feel the sense of family, love and protection they all have for one another.

Well, unlike The Marine in Unit A, the Fireman in Unit C wasn't as compelling for me. I missed The Cowboy in Unit E, so I felt lost in the series with the addition of new characters. My fault for not staying on track. That said, the relationship between Eli and Jackson felt forced, then once it happened, it advanced too quick for my liking.

**The Fireman in Unit C, Book 3 of the Mockingbird Place series by Kris Cook is another fun read. You can read as a standalone but you understand more about the backstory if you read the series in order. We have met Eli and Jackson before now.

Finally, this series gave me a story with some substance. The character's of Jackson and Eli have A-more back story going on to make their story more interesting and B-current events and situations that make the story move at a faster pace and more interesting.

This is book # 3 in The Mockingbird Place series. This book can be read as a standalone novel. It would be in the readers best interest, however, to read this series in order. This would add better understanding and enjoyment as the inside jokes in the book will make more sense.

This as the title says is a tale about a fireman(Eli) who lives in unit C in an apartment block named Mockingbird Place. I have only read this book from the series and feel it would be better enjoyed if you read the other books in the series first as previous characters are involved in this book too. The book revolves around the growing attraction between Eli and Jackson who also lives in Mockingbird Place. The story has a bit of danger, a bit of mystery and a couple of twists which do ...more

OK your really quick PSA: This is part of a series, I do suggest that you read the previous books, as there are returning characters and all that jazz.
That being said, on to Eli and Jackson...
