Fun, quick read. This book basically contains transcripts of interviews with some of the writers from The X-Files. It’s cool to learn about their process, though most of it I had heard about before. I could have done without all the questions and answers regarding other shows they went on to do (Breaking Bad and 24), but overall this was a nice peek behind the curtain.

I have to admit that I haven't watched any of The X-Files yet - I picked this up because of my interest in the screenwriting industry and how TV and movies are made, especially in the paranormal subgenres. I was hoping I'd learn more about The X-Files, but I think my expectation was flawed. The interviews were interesting but they didn't really answer my questions about a screenwriting career experience or TV production. It's totally possible I missed the point because I wasn't in the target audience.

Really enjoyed this one, in particular the interviews with Spotnitz and Gilligan. Kinda unbelievable television shows actually get made.
