From Paul Stanton's popular Duckboy line of postcards and calendars comes this ten-year collection of more than 100 humorous black-and-white photos. Chuckle, chortle, and belly laugh to "Where Jerky Comes From," "The Trouble with a Short Horse in the Rockies," "Deprogramming a Vegetarian in Cattle Country," "It's Easy to Spot the 'Tourista' in a New Mexico Caf," and many others. The Duckboy Way also features several of Stantos's comic yarns, among them "How To Make Cowboy Coffee," "So You Want To Be a Mountain Man?" and "Memoirs of an Old Duckboy." Paul Stanton's photos and tales satirize loggers, yuppies, cowboys, politicians, kids, gun enthusiasts, coffee junkies, pets, outdoor sports, machismo, and much more. The popularity of these hilarious western photos has spread throughout the United States and abroad.
This is one of the funniest books for "grownups" that I've read in years. It's a compilation of the author/photographer's picture postcards sold first in Montana, and now throughout the US and online. His explanations and stories also demonstrate his quirky sense of humor, from "Memoirs of an Old Duckboy" to "So You Want to Be a Mountain Man?"
For an afternoon's worth of chuckles -- especially if the cable goes out and you can't watch any sports -- this book is well worth your time.
Did I say "Grownups"? Sophomoric teens and preteens and will get a kick out of it too, but don't tell them I said so.
