Since my kids got old enough to understand, I have been a story teller. At first, though the ideas were unique, my writing was insufficient, but I kept writing, and reading, and little by little, I've gotten better. The paradox of it is, as my writing has improved, I have started having a paucity of ideas. I feel somewhat like a writer in an O. Henry story, who snuck about secretly watching human interaction, hoping he could squeeze a story out of the things he observed. In my life, I have tried a lot of different things, such as teacher, carpenter, rock mason, janitor, soldier, sporting goods designer and student. For the past twenty odd years, I've settled on being a physician, mostly because I've made enough money at medicine so I've been able to afford laptop computers I can use to write. At this point, I have written 21 novels, from at least five different genres. Six of them are children's stories. I love the delight on children's faces as I tell them the stories that started my writing career.
My wife and I live with our two youngest, two lovely girls in southeast Utah. There is much, in the mountains, deserts and forests that surround us to give me much material I can exploit, exaggerating here and there, and creating wonder...

A sweet story and fun adventure. I like the machismo of learning to read, and the heroism of sharing the load on household chores even better than the dragonslaying.
