I like the GOOD NIGHT series. When we moved to South Carolina I purchased several for my Littles–the nickname for my grandchildren. I am a Mimi...not a grandma. So, yeah. I bought several copies and past them out to the Littles to introduce them to our new home. The book says 'good night' to several well known destinations in South Carolina. I think there's one for many states. A nice intro for small children. This series are board books. I also gifted GOOD NIGHT PUERTO RICO after locating in a gift shop in El Yunque Rainforest. The Littles could get to know where I disappeared to. Puerto Rico's GOOD NIGHT is my favorite. We moved to New Mexico last year because my husband's a contractor for FEMA. We go when called. Sometimes the jobs don't last long. While I liked New Mexico, I was dealing with being far removed from family and all the traveling back to Louisiana. It was different when I was in Puerto Rico. I never got home sick. In Santa Fe, all that dust, heat, and rocky terrain didn't appeal to me. Besides, the altitude was difficult to adjust to. I do love the art scene in New Mexico but no Goodnight New Mexico for me or the Littles. All I did there was shop–ya think I would have run in to one. Never did. Maybe I never l searched. Don't get me wrong. New Mexico is marvelous. I couldn't adjust and was away from my bookshelves. I worried about my parents. They were sad we had moved so far away. In hindsight, I wish I had found a GNNM. I like to buy one every time I move. Makes a nice children's gift.
We all love Good Night moon! Well, Good Night Puerto Rico does something even more special, the author and illustrator do an amazing job taking children on a magical tour around to tropical island of Puerto Rico. I would add this to my collection of readers for my K-1st grade books.
