A practical handbook for gardening in Central Texas, offering information and advice about climate and weather, plant selection, lawns, landscape design, and garden practices, among other topics. Includes b&w drawings and a few color photos. Annotation c. Book News, Inc., Portland, OR (booknews.com)
A necessary companion for any Central Texas gardener. This reference book is thoughtfully and thoroughly researched, brilliantly organized, accessible, and ESSENTIAL. One thousand blessings upon the head of Cheryl Hazeltine; she is truly a gift.
Has quite a bit of helpful information, but doesn't prioritize native plants very much, and thus doesn't always make it obvious which plants are native to the area. That's probably mostly an artifact of when it was written.
A nice overview gardening guide that is nicely tailored to the region. Readable, informative, and approachable. I could have used more illustrations, but this is definitely a valuable reference book for gardening in this part of the country.
This is a great resource for anyone with even a sliver of land they care for. Working with plants meant for the climate in which one lives is really thee only way to responsibly garden.
