~I received a free copy in exchange for my honest review~

4/5 Stars

I am a huge fan of thrillers and Search was definitely my type of read. With short chapters and so many twists, not to mention the ending, this book is easily engaging. When Glenda hires a private investigator to track down her long-lost sons in the fear of them inheriting Huntington’s diseases, I thought the story would be very straightforward.

I love when books prove me wrong and keep me guessing. It’s for that reason alone that I adored reading this. If you’re a fan of thrillers, this is one book you’ll want to add to your collection.

I was undecided at first on whether to give this book a four or five star review. I have to say that the story won out and I liked the author's writing style, so a five it is. Readers are going to have to hang on when they read this story full of mystery, twists, turns and adventure.n Calum Neuman is a private investigator. When he gets hired by Glenda Muir to find twin sons she hasn't seen in years because they may have inherited a health disease from her, he is glad to take the case. The hunt for the twins takes Calum and readers on a crazy adventure of lies, secrets and so much more. The author has a wonderful reader friendly writing style, and although at times I felt the story was a bit drawn out, it is an amazing tale I think readers will love.

I was given a copy of this book for an honest review. This is a very intriguing thriller that had me hooked. There are lots of twists and turns and with every page you just do not know what is going to happen next. You may think you know what is coming but I assure you, you won't believe it.

A page Turner

I had gotten this book in exchange for a review from the author and must I say it was a page turner. From the starting to the end. The client Glenda was a certified psychopath. This book was so suspenseful it had so many twist that when you think you have it figured out... You find out you were wrong. This book was written perfectly, I didn't know what to expect with this book but I am happy that I had read it, it was thrilling and amazing. I would recommend it because it was a really good read. Mystery, suspense and a page turner.....this book had it all.!

An enjoyable read

Though the pace is by no means racing, the story does effectively draw the reader in and keep them turning the pages. A little more physical description of the characters would be nice but that does not detract. If a sequel comes along I would gladly read it!

Disappointed

whilst I enjoy S K Bohlman's writing style, I found the ending a little too farfetched and the storyline somewhat convoluted

A bit wordy

Far too much detail for me. A lot unexplained, I enjoy a mystery but this is tedious. Far too many glasses of whiskey involved.

Excellent caper with PI Calum Neuman chasing through the Scottish Highlands in a generally fast-paced thriller which keeps the reader entertained! DK Bohlman gives us some well observed character observations and he has a sympathetic eye for location. This novel would be a prime candidate for a television series and the ending certainly hinted at the possibility of a second outing.
For me, the middle section of the book plateaued a little and I found the story becoming too bogged down with unnecessary wordage and I feel a stricter edit might have been advisable. But for that, I would have awarded this fine story a 5 Star rating and it has certainly been one of the most enjoyable reads of the year! Without spoiling the suspense, I loved the deliciously nasty main baddie and Calum was a character I would enjoy reading about again in another Scottish thriller like Search.

Scottish murder mystery on the good book list. I enjoyed reading this murder mystery set in the Scottish highlands and recommend it to anybody keen on this genre. It is well written and moves along smartly enough to keep the reader engaged. There were occasional patches that dragged and I was a little confused where the story was going at times. But it all came together in the end with a nice messy climax.

D K Bohlman's debut novel is a great addition to the crime thriller genre. The setting and characterisation are strong and the plot line felt solid. I particularly liked Jenna, Calum Neuman, private eye's assistant- who beavered away on her own after everyone else had given up. The plot is complex, rather than single layered, and Bohlman handled all of these threads with confidence, bringing them to a satisfactory conclusion.
Having said this, two main things prevented me rating this five stars. I found the time sequencing a bit disorientating towards the end; when the same time period was played out again with a different character. Also, the use of forewarning spoilers- such as stating in end of chapter hooks that this would be the characters last day- I would have preferred the surprise as a reader of finding this out for myself.
The settings are rich in accuracy, and the main Scottish setting is beautifully portrayed. Without giving too many spoilers, the character of Glenda Muir is one dangerous lady, whom I am glad I never met.
Search would suit anyone looking for a crime novel with a number of layers. I enjoyed trying to work this one out.

I was hooked into this story from the beginning and thoroughly enjoyed following along the mystery with PI Calum Neuman and his assistant Jenna. I felt transported at times to Scotland, where the book is set, carried along by the superb writing. If not for the middle section being a little slow for my pace I would have given the book five stars. I'm looking forward to reading more by this talented reader.
