Gail makes her home on the beautiful west coast of Canada, where she’s happy to say umbrellas outnumber snow shovels. Originally hailing from Wales, she says her fascination with the Regency period began during frequent trips back to visit family and friends when Sunday afternoon drives would inevitably lead to a castle, a cathedral, or a country house hotel (where she also discovered an unfortunate fondness for Devonshire cream teas and sticky toffee pudding).

She has written over twenty historical and paranormal romances and thinks the idea of writing a novel while sipping wine in Tuscany would have to be about as good as it gets!

I haven't read Victorian fiction yet that I would give less than five stars to. My only experience with it is the classics such as Dickens, the Austens, Bronte, and Wharton. This is the first contemporary I've read and I really enjoyed it. I caught myself thinking about how I would love to see this adapted to the screen and suddenly remembered I wasn't reading one of the greats. If I had replaced my daily gaming time with reading the book instead of relegating it to bedtime, I would have finished it in one day. It was simply but well written in the parlance of the times without slowing a modern reader down. I normally don't go for romance and when I do it is exclusively historical romance. I'm not a huge fan of erotica which is slipped into a lot of romances but this book, perhaps because of the setting, was a chaste read. I won't NOT like a book if there are graphic, steamy inserts and they do help to build tension in some stories but it's not what I'm looking for. And if that is something you avoid in particular, this book gets the green light.

I love this story! It is a light read but the characters have depth and meaningful and honest conversations. I love that is not about shallow people and graphic sexual scenes, but it is about thoughts, opinions and a sharing of the mind. Loved it! This is the first book I have read from this writer but I will check her other books out as soon as I’m done writing this review, because if all her books are like this, I’m in for many reading adventures!

Another historical romance, another secret pleasure of mine. I enjoyed the banter, the mystery and the concealment. The characters were, as almost always is with historical novels, spot on and I enjoyed reading about Diana's struggle and Edward's strength. Although cliched, I did like this one, and I love how quickly I can devour these. Recommend for romance lovers everywhere :)
