Lady Genevieve is shocked when her husband-to-be declares that theirs will be a marriage in name only, and she responds to him with defiance and rage.
MARRIAGE OF CONVENIENCE — The king himself has arranged the marriage, and golden-haired Lady Genevieve hopes she will find the love that has so far eluded her. But nothing could have prepared her for Lord Tristen Sinclair, a towering raven-haired knight who claims her with the fierce power of his hungry kiss... only to state that he will be her husband in name only.
Stunned by the fiery pleasure he has ignited within her, yet stung by his harsh words, Genny responds with a defiance that sets Tristen reeling. Never has he encountered a woman so spirited and unpredictable. Never has he been so totally captivated by a temptress who both enrages and arouses him. As their wills clash, their destiny is written in the treachery that surrounds them... and in the overwhelming desire that consumes them in love's most PASSIONATE SURRENDER.
Ok this book had it all but in historical form. It was awesome and if this duo ever wrote another book I would be the first in line to buy it. Firstly this story is about a marriage of convenience that was not for the hero Tristen who was married before to a slut how cheated on him and died trying to rid herself of her lovers child and oh did I mention she was the heroine cousin. Poor girl had no clue what a horror she was stepping into when she was told by the king to marry him. Now Genevieve or Genny as everyone calls her is one amazing strong and beautiful little woman who has a good healing hand and only wants to give. She is the person I wished I could be! He starts by wanting to bed her before he even knows she is his bride as they got married by proxy ( I love this scene with the sword). She wants to make her marriage work but he wants nothing to do with her. They fight and he fights his growing obsession with her until he mistakenly thinks she was sleeping around on him and rapes her( when she would have gladly submitted to him if he had but asked). I cried when she was so broken by it all and he had no idea how to make it up to her. He even spoke to his mother about it and it was so vile that I had to stop reading and collect my thoughts for a few minutes. It was intense. They have a way to go to come to an understanding but given that she is a saint she forgives him ( I had hard time with this). It was different back then so I let this one go. It gets more full of drama as she is the target of several suspicion accidents. It get more intense until at the end when she is kidnapped and he come for her with everyone rallying around the hero because they all loved Lady Genny. It was an emotional read and I will not say how it all goes down but read it if you like an innocent intense read with drama and romance into the mix.

The hero was far too rude, obnoxious, and downright jerky for me. I could understand his disbelief in marriage, given his disastrous first marriage and first wife—but after meeting the heroine, I expected at least a basic level of respect. What really bothered me was how unnecessarily cruel he was to her because of another woman. She didn’t deserve that at all. Honestly, she didn’t deserve him either. I also felt a complete lack of chemistry between them. After they kissed, I expected some shift—some emotional pull or intensity—but instead, he just leaves to avoid her. I’ve read books with similar storylines that were engaging and exciting, but this one just wasn’t. Even if the hero is rude or emotionally closed off, there still needs to be chemistry and intensity—something that makes you root for them as a couple. That was completely missing here. In the end, I couldn’t connect with the story or the characters. I give up. This one just wasn’t for me.
