"The History of the Celtic People is a facsimile reprint of Henri Hubert's two volumes, The Rise of the Celts and the Greatness and decline of the Celts, which were first published in English in 1934" -- T. p. verso./ Includes bibilographical refrences (p.295-313) and index.
A reprint of the 1934 books of Hubert (d. 1927) of his books "The Rise of the Celts" (linguistics, archeology, origins and early history) and "The Greatness and Decline of the Celts" (history from the 6th century BC to dissolution under Germanic peoples in the Middle Ages, sociological shifts, and pagan religion). Given the century-old authorship, this is somewhat outdated for theories regarding language and some of the early history but it is, overall, a valuable resource for examining the Celtic peoples. Hubert goes as in depth as he can about many subjects and gives a helpful understanding of the Celtic peoples (since they were not nearly as monolithic as Romans liked to think) over a millennium of study. I recommend reading this thoughtful study.
