Blue Falls, Texas #8
A Rancher to Love
SAFE AT HOME
Leah Murphy just wants to feel safe again after a violent break-in. Moving to Blue Falls, Texas, is the first step. Renting the bunkhouse from rancher Tyler Lowe is the second. But Leah is uneasy around the handsome cowboy, despite his kindness.
Tyler knows all too well how difficult it is to rebuild trust. He's trying to help his young niece heal from her own dark memories. When he sees how Maddie responds to Leah, he can't help feeling grateful—and attracted to the beautiful woman. He knows he has to move slowly to win Leah's heart, but he also knows she's worth the wait.

Leah is trying to get over the terrible attack she experienced at her Houston apartment. Feeling like a change of scenery would be therapeutic and aid in her recovery, she moves to Blue Falls. She used to visit her cousin Conner and his family there when she was younger, and she’s always liked the town.
To say Tyler’s sister is a bad mother would be a compliment. He’s tackling the new role as single father to his niece like a pro. In an effort to increase his income, he rents the bunkhouse on his family’s ranch to Leah. Although he doesn’t know the details, he can tell by her skittish behavior that she’s running from something or someone, so he tries to keep his attraction to her reined in. However, the more he gets to know her, and the more she shows signs that she reciprocates his feelings, the harder it becomes for Tyler to keep his distance.
There were some slow moments at the beginning of the book. I have extreme empathy for any victim of a crime; but after a while, the constant mentioning of the crime that plagued Leah wore on my nerves. I felt the constant reminder was evidence of the author’s lack of faith that readers would remember the obstacle Leah was trying to overcome. My sympathy for her eventually turned into frustration, and I almost put the book down.
However, I’m glad I didn’t… at least I was for awhile.
The pace picked up and then I got further into the story. I adored Tyler and Maddie from the beginning, and I started liking Leah. My fondness for her morphed into antipathy when she tried to use Tyler’s protection of niece as a reason to “rethink” the relationship (read the book to get the full understanding of this). It was total overreaction on her part, and the only thing that revived me was Reina’s (her best friend) straightforwardness. The story itself is good, however, the heroine’s constant need to be a damsel-in-distress despite her claims of trying to prevent that very title damaged the story a little for me. My feelings towards her ran hot and cold, and that kept taking me out of the story.
The love seemed to come quickly in comparison to the slow beginning. The story needed to be longer with a better turning point.

Trish Milburn is one of my all time favorite authors. There's just something about her writing that I love. I can usually sit down, and read one of her books in a couple of hours because I get so sucked into the world of Blue Falls, Texas. A Rancher to Love is no exception to that rule. I loved everything about the book.
I loved returning to the community of Blue Falls, and seeing some of my favorite characters. I also enjoyed meeting the new characters. Tyler and Leah have become two of my favorite of Trish Milburn's characters. The book had a lot of cheesy moments, and sappiness, which usually annoys me. However, the author makes it work. Instead of being annoyed, I thought it felt authentic. It felt like it was there for a reason, instead of just being silly.
A Rancher to Love became my second favorite Blue Falls book (my favorite is Her Cowboy Groom). I can't wait for Trish Milburn to write more books in this series, now that I'm all caught up. I will happily devour them, and probably still want more when I'm done. I just can't get enough of the world Trish Milburn has created in Blue Falls, Texas.

Leah is going through ptsd after being attacked. No longer feeling safe, she needed a change and to get her life back on track. Leaving the city for a small town where she till try to start over. Meanwhile Tyler is going through some issues that leaves him questioning his sisters safety but that's trumped over making sure that his quiet niece is cared for. He doesn't know much about taking care of children but will do everything in his power to care for her and get her to open up to him. Last thing he need is for his lovely neighbor Leah to distract him.
If you are looking for a book that's heartwarming, with romance and a bit of drama then this is for you. I really enjoyed this book, it was simple and sweet read. I enjoyed seeing Tyler's niece open up after going through some crap when it came to her mother that left her that way. I loved how caring Tyler was and even if it wasn't his responsibility made sure that his niece had everything she would need to live a more better life. I loved seeing the interaction between Leah and the nice it was sweet. What was even sweeter was watching that romance bloom between the two main characters. I loved that there was the dual point of view. I thought that this book was very well written with interesting characters. I liked that this book was pretty short with plenty going on for those readers looking for their romance reading fix with little time to spare.

Leah Murphy is attacked in her home in Houston, TX. She is so traumatized that she decides to move to her cousin's hometown, Blue Falls, Texas. Leah needs a place to live and decides to rent a vacant bunkhouse on a ranch. The rancher is Tyler Lowe who lives with his niece, five year old Maddie. Leah has a really hard time trusting any man but is attracted to the handsome Tyler. Maddie's irresponsible mom has left her with Tyler and Leah is drawn to Maddie and her sad situation. Every woman wants a man who is kind, considerate, loving and sexy. Tyler is all these wrapped into one! The story is sweet, you feel a tug of the heart in Maddie and Leah's story. A nice story that makes you feel good after reading. I don't know about you all, but I'm moving to Blue Falls, Texas!

Sometimes kids can see what adults can't, and little Maddie is quite the smart cookie where Leah and Tyler are concerned, “I do, too. You should get married.” Leah choked on a laugh at the same time as Tyler’s mouth fell open." I really liked this book, Tyler was sweet and caring and there was so much love between Leah, Maddie and Tyler.

Really a 3.5 as there were 4-5 nice bits here.
I picked up quite a few of this series at a thrift store..new author to me.
Whipped thru it .. did not read every word as it was too simple and an unplanned read to boot.
Disappointed (as usual) n the premarital sex and sad that their strength was only in themselves and not God...guess those two ideas are very related!

I LOVED THE STORY, AND I REALLY LIKE HAPPY ENDINGS.
I WOULD HAVE LIKED SOME KIND OF FOLLOW UP, TO THE QUICK ENDING.
MARYANN JORDAN DOES SOME LITTLE FOLLOW UPS, A FEW MONTHS, OR A FEW YEARS
DOWN THE ROAD WITH KIDS & FAMILY, WHICH I ENJOY.
JUST A THOUGHT.

Lovely light read with the right amount of love, suspense, healing, trauma, and issues all along with noisy helpful people. All the characters were well written and very believable. In my opinion, this was a. Very good book.

Wishing it went farther but I liked it.
On more thought, I really wish it went beyond where it did.

I received an ARC of this title in exchange for an honest review and here it is: 4 stars.
This is the first novel in the Blue Falls, Texas series I've read as well as the first novel I've read by this author.
As the novel opens, Leah Murphy has just arrived in Blue Falls and is waiting outside the sheriff's office to see her cousin, Conner, a deputy sheriff. She left the city behind and is still trying to recover from the the trauma of being attacked by a stranger in her apartment several weeks earlier. Although she was lucky that help arrived before she was raped and the man who attacked her is in jail, she still bears the emotional scars left by the attack. She's hoping that moving in with her cousin and living in a small town for a while will help her heal. When she learns that Conner's home is unavailable after some flooding, Conner has an idea of a place Leah can stay stay--the bunkhouse of a small ranch owned by Tyler Lowe, the local farrier.
Tyler also has a problem, his younger sister, Kendra, is a drug addict, and she recently dropped off her 5-year old daughter, Maddie, at Tyler's ranch, as she and her deadbeat boyfriend headed off without so much as a word about where they were headed or how long they'd be gone. Maddie has barely said a word since that day, although Tyler is trying as hard as he can to get through to the little girl. He does know that having another mouth to feed, buying clothing and school supplies for his niece is going to be expensive. His solution is to try to rent out the long vacant bunkhouse.
Even though Conner vouches for Tyler, Leah would prefer that neither he nor anyone else in town know about her attack, and with great trepidation she agrees to check out the bunkhouse and is surprised to find that Tyler is a very large man, nearly twice her size, which is daunting to the traumatized woman, but panic attacks aside, she eventually agrees to move in. What brings her out of her shell is her slowly building relationship with little Maddie, who is curious enough to ask about what Leah is doing on the bunkhouse porch--she makes jewelry, and is happy to let the sweet child watch her work. Tyler is as attracted to Leah as she is to him, but if you're looking for a hot and heavy romance, this isn't it. Instead, this is as sweet a slowly moving romance as I've read in some time. Although there are a few surprises and some bumps along the way to its HEA ending, I found myself charmed by the town of Blue Falls, its inhabitants, as well as the three principle characters. It's a good read.

Leah came home one day to find a man waiting for her in her apartment. What followed next shattered her world and left her running scared. She packed up her city apartment and fled to the small town of Blue Falls, Texas where she has family. She's hoping the sleepy town, her police officer cousin, and attentive towns people will allow her to feel safe again. But she doesn't count on the massive man who she rents from or his quiet, broken niece. Both just might find a way to break down her walls and help her live again.
This was a sweet and gripping story. I was pleasantly surprised to find depth of character, and intriguing plot in this small book. The author did a great job of creating the right feel of what the characters were experiencing and pulling the reader into the story. She gave just the right feel to small town living. Several of the secondary characters were just as interesting as the main ones. I got a slight feel that there might be more to some of them, but at no time did I feel lost or confused. So while this might be book 8 in the series, it can definitely be read as a stand-alone. Overall, this was a really enjoyable read. I would recommend it to anyone who lives a sweet romance with a touch of drama.
I received this book free of charge from NetGalley in exchange for my honest review.

There's nothing that heals the troubled soul faster than the love of a Texas cowboy, company of a sweet little girl, a wounded puppy who adores you unconditionally, and the nature surrounding you.
The fear and terror Leah feels in her mind and heart after the attack against her in her home, is apparent. The anxiety tries to take a hold of her, and the jitters she feels are real.
Tyler feels overwhelmed and alone with the huge responsibility of his niece. He loves her more than life itself, would do anything for her, to protect her, to make her the happy curious, full of life little girl she used to be before her mother abandoned her. The feelings are so raw and fragile, and my heart was aching for them both.
I enjoyed the tender, sweet feeling of the story, the care, protectiveness, the attraction between Leah and Tyler, it all was filled with hope and joy, despite the tragic events in both of their lives.
There were moments of raw heartache, fright and fear, joy and laughter, love and elation. The story swept me with it, and at the end left me smiling, feeling the hope, faith and anticipation of better days to come, filled with love and life.

Leah is going through PTSD after her attack and break in. She decides to move back to Blue Falls where her cousin and family live, to start over for herself. Meanwhile, Tyler is going through some issues that leave him with his young niece whom hasn’t spoken a word to him since his sister dropped her off and hasn’t come back for. Tyler doesn’t know anything about children or taking care of one but he’s got to learn, and fast.
This is the first Blue Fall’s novel that I’ve read but also the first book that I’ve read by the author too. The books got everything, the love of a cowboy, sweet little girl and a wounded puppy. The romance between the Tyler and Leah was slow and steady. They stumbled along the way and learned from each other and eventually healed their wounds together.

After being attacked in the one place she’s always felt safe, Leah Murphy decides that she needs to get away. Blue Falls seems like the perfect place, especially with her aunt and uncle as well as her cousin living in the small town. But when her cousin secures her a place to live, Leah doesn’t know how she’s going to handle living so close to a man she barely knows. However, one thing she does know is that her cousin trusts him, which is good enough for Leah to want to give Tyler Lowe a chance. Read More

Soft, gentle read after some of the questionable titles I have subjected myself to. This is a nice, soothing read about a woman who has lost her ability to trust, and the kind farrier who helps her regain her sense of confidence. There are puppies, an emotionally damaged kid who needs her help, and good feelings all the way around.
