Got this book for free at the Safari Park once...read it as a quick filler book. Was just like the movie obviously, and just as enjoyable.

The story is set in NYC and Max faces the challenge of encountering stray pets. At the beginning of the story Max's owner adopts another dog, Duke. Max, who is a terrier who thrives living the luxury life in a small apartment in New York City with his lovable owner, until him and Duke go on a walk and face a group of alley cats. Fortunately, a bunny by the name of Snowball saves them from the gloomy alley. In exchange he demands that Max and Duke join his cult of the abandoned pets and take revenge on the human species.

I would give the book 5 stars since it was entertaining, and got the point across.

Heute stelle ich euch das Hörspiel „Pets“ vor, das bestimmt schon der ein oder andere im Kino gesehen hat. Da das Hörerlebnis knapp 3h geht, hat es eine gute Länge um es vor dem Schlafen gehen anzuhören. Es handelt um den Hund Max, der mit seinem Leben rundum zufrieden ist. Doch eines Tages schleppt seine Besitzerin Katie, einen anderen Hund namens Duke mit nach Hause. Das Chaos ist vorprogrammiert, denn Max will seine geliebte Katie keinesfalls teilen. Bald geraten die beiden ins Visier eines teuflischen Kaninchens und seiner Bande und müssen sich gegen sie behaupten. Dabei merken sie, das sie und ihre Freunde ein tolles Team sind.

Meine Meinung:

Ich muss gestehen, ich habe etwas anderes erwartet. Die Idee dahinter ‚Was machen unsere Haustiere, wenn wir arbeiten gehen?‘, habe ich mir etwas ruhiger und auch realistischer vorgestellt. Ich habe schnell gemerkt, dass das Hörbuch mit Action und Spannung daherkommt. Was natürlich auch nicht schlecht ist, denn langweilig wurde mir sicher nicht. Für mich war es trotzdem teilweise anstrengend dem Geschehenen zu folgen, das lag auch daran, dass wahnsinnig viel Handlung in die knapp drei Stunden gepackt worden sind. Mir persönlich war es an manchen Stellen zu schnell, zu laut und zu überdreht. Ich kann mir vorstellen, dass wenn man den Film schon gesehen hat, die Bilder zu den Szenen hat und man sich so besser in die Geschichte fallen lassen kann.

Die Charaktere der Tiere sind sehr süß und jedes hat seine individuellen Eigenschaften, dass macht jedes einzigartig und hat mir sehr gut gefallen. Freundschaft, Offenheit und Zusammenhalt stehen in der Geschichte ganz oben und wurden toll eingesetzt. Oliver Rohrbeck macht als Sprecher die Geschichte und die Tiere lebendig und bringt die jeweiligen Gefühle der gerade anzutreffenden Situation toll rüber.

Das weiße Kaninchen als Antagonist ist eine großartige Idee, immer wenn es sprach musste ich schmunzeln, weil es schon ganz schön furchteinflößend rüber kommt. Das Ende für das Kaninchen, Mac und Duke und den anderen ist sehr schön und hat mich zufrieden gestellt.

Fazit:

Ein rasantes und spannendes Hörspiel mit einzigartigen Charakteren, welches mir stellenweise zu schnell und überdreht war.

Great! I loved this book i haven't seen the movie I already know it is amazing.The little dog named Max is so cute.He loves his owner Katie. When Katie brings a new dog home Max gets a little jealous. This story has a lesson and it is basically don't judge a book by it's cover.I recommened ths book to people who like kids books that always have a life lesson.

I read this book to my Pre-k class in attempt to get the children interested in chapter books with no pictures and they really did seem to enjoy it.
