Gabriel-Sorensen Grooms #1

Mother of the Groom

Rate this book
Wedding bells were ringing, though not for Diana Sorensen. This time around, it was the divorcee's son who was tying the knot - but it was the bride-to-be's father, Lee Gabriel, who had Diana feeling like a newlywed. Lee figured he wasn't losing a daughter ... he was gaining a son - and his irresistibly attractive mother! Diana awoke feelings in him he'd long forgotten ... feelings that made him give serious thought to taking a bride of his own. Happily-ever-after seemed like a possibility for Diana and Lee until their children decided that perhaps marriage wasn't for them, after all. Could Lee convince Diana that even though the wedding was off, they could still say 'I Do'?

Patricia Ann Kay (born March 7, 1937), also known as Trisha Alexander and Ann Patrick, is an American bestselling author of romance novels and women's fiction. She has authored more than 50 books, with four million copies published in 18 countries

Patricia Ann Kay was born on 7 March 1937 in a small town in northeastern Ohio, USA, where she raised along with three younger sisters. She considers herself a very lucky woman. The family didn’t have a lot of money, but she says that didn’t matter, because what they did have was worth more than money — a happy home. Her parents had a good marriage and they doted on their four daughters. That upbringing is reflected in the stories she writes. As readers all over the world have discovered, her books are filled with warmth and love of family.

Pat has lived in upstate New York, Northern Alabama, Southern California, and Stockholm (Sweden), and since 1969, in Houston, Texas with her husband. She says that no matter where she’s lived, she’s found that people everywhere are the same and want the same things: love and committed relationships. The marriage has three terrific grown children. They currently share their home with two longhaired cats, and a backyard filled with squirrels, birds, and other critters. Her hobbies and other interests include reading, walking for exercise, going to the movies and the theater, swimming, and traveling.

In 1990, Pat sold her first romance novel to Silhouette. Since then, more than four million copies of her novels have been published in eighteen different countries.

Outstanding

I give both of these books five stars. What a great plot. Father of the bride meets mother of the groom and sparks fly. Bride leaves groom just days before wedding so mother and father get married. The second book about the former finances, now step brother and step sister just keeps the good story going.

Not your usual contemporary romance.
We get the common start with a young couple getting ready to marry which is not the real romance because it turns out to be the widowed father of the bride and the single mother of the groom that falls in love while the young couple fall apart.
It is clear that there is serious chemistry floating around between Diana Sorensen and Lee Gabriel which they hide from her son Kent and Lee's daughter Allison until everything explodes at the wedding rehearsal dinner. Weddings are stressful at best and hurtful at worse, but there is a bit of both at this wedding as people find out truths as well as people switch places in a bittersweet twist. When I though the story was finished I see that there is a jump a head five-ish years and we see a second chances romance with the bitter but now more mature Allison and Kent. This second story lost any interest for me, they seemed terrible as a couple the first time around and their lack of communicating their feelings to each other bodes for another tragedy waiting to happen so I stopped reading around page 300. I wished we could have gone back to Diana and Lee, that was a better story.

Okay, so it's a weekend filled with category romances. Fun and yummy, kind of like cheese puffs. 8-) I like this one. Two adults trying to have a relationship. Yay!

Nothing special about this romance novel. Did enjoy the fact they were in their 40's.
