Tehrakians: The Awakening Season

Rate this book
Once the celebrated protectors of mankind, Tehrakians are now the most dreaded and despised people in the world. Separated from their homeland and cursed, this once proud race of men is outlawed and hunted in the land of Stehekan. For the citizens under the king’s rule, they are taught that the only thing worse than encountering one of these monsters is to wake-up one day and realize you are one.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book and can't wait to read the second instalment. I found the story to be exactly my cup of tea. I am intrigued by what happened in the past, I like the current characters and want to know what happens next. There is enough of a mix of character types and varying strands to maintain complexity of plotting and sustain interest.

I have only awarded four stars because I am a fussy bugger and you really need to impress to get it, most of the time. What stops the addition of the fifth star is the use of some dodgy grammar. Things are NOT drug about. Drug is a noun applied to substances used to cure, kill or alter states of mind, it is NOT the past tense of Drag. I also stumbled , literally over the use of shined when shone was the correct term. the ugliness of the phrasing was a real sticking point. I have noticed this in a few other books lately, so I can't lay this at the door of this author alone.

Apart from this it was a great read and I can recommend whole heartedly.

The Awakening Season

This is a very well thought out book with allot of character development and a well built world. The idea of an evil race that must be destroyed is an old one but well done in this book. The cliffhanger is not nice but I have book 2 so I am good. This book is well worth the price.
