About the author

Anne McAllister has written nearly 70 romance novels for Tule Publishing and Harlequin Books.

She has won two RITA awards from the Romance Writers of America — for COWBOY PRIDE and THE STARDUST COWBOY — and has had nine other books which were RITA finalists.

Her books have also been finalists for the National Readers’ Choice Award. She was named Midwest Fiction Writers “Writer of the Year” and also received Romantic Times’ Career Achievement Award as “Series Author of the Year.”

But while the awards and sales are wonderful, Anne thinks the best part of writing is telling the story. With every new book she writes, she meets new characters – or gets to know old ones even better – and discovers what makes them and their relationships tick.

Re Gibson's Girl - Anne McAllister brings us book three of her New York, New York series.

Gibson is the rival photographer of Finn, who got his story in Finn's Twins!. Chloe is another sweet girl from Iowa who is trying to figure out if marriage to her fiancee, Farmer Dave, is really how she wants to live her life.

Sister Carmela is Chloe's life guidance counselor and tho Chloe really wants a detailed road map instead of a general direction for her life, when the good Sister mentions getting out and about and experiencing life while resisting temptation before making a major commitment, Chloe figures she should do that too.

So Gina, Gib's sister, sends her to Gib in NYC, as Gib needs an assistant. The day that Chloe arrives, she embraces her new position as a photographer assistant and strips to be included in a nude photo shoot before the real model shows up.

Gib can't figure out why Chloe's curves are giving him 'thoughts', but soon Chloe turns into an invaluable assistant, despite the sizzling attraction that is burning between them. What follows is a long drawn out game of push/pull as both of these characters try to fight the Huge Lurve Force Mojo that is generated between them.

Gib's backstory is that he too came as a newbie Iowa boy to NYC and fell in with a beautiful, but heartless babe who married him. The woman then used Gib and his amazing photos to get herself noticed by one of the world's greatest photographers.

To Gib's heartbroken amazement, soon Gib was eating the dust of his divorce, the lady dumped him as soon as the Great Photographer Guy took an interest in her and catapulted her to fame.

So Gib is torn between serious Treacherous Body Syndrome Impulses for Chloe - despite her being engaged to Farmer Dave- and wanting to shelter her from the harsh awakening and loss of innocence he experienced when he was used and tossed aside by an ambitious woman.

(Tho Gib gets his revenge on the heartless tramp who dumped him when they run each other at a party and the ex tries to hook him in again by declaring she knows how much she hurt him and Gib blandly replies she did not, before dismissing her to go find Chloe - to the tramps stunned amazement.)

Chloe soon makes friends with the other characters that feature in the series, including the couple from the first book, Finn and Izzy, the H of the next book, Rhys and Sierra, who is the h of the fifth book.

We also get to see more of Gib's and Finn's rivalry when Finn wins a big contract from a famous designer because his photos of women are 'softer and more intimate' than Gib's. There is heavy foreshadowing at this point, because Chloe doesn't know about Finn's past and she tried to get him to use his earlier 'softer' photos before his big disillusionment.

Gib does more than a few things, such as dating and more than likely sleeping with another woman in response to Chloe's meeting up with Rhys for casual outings, to fight his attraction to Chloe and the warmer feelings she inspires in him.

The epitome of Gib's avoidance tactics comes when Chloe has only two weeks in NYC left and is planning on staying at Rhy's apartment as her current place is unavailable. Gib lets her stay at his place, because he suddenly decides he is going camping in the mountains of Montana - despite the fact that he doesn't hike and knows nothing about the area.

So Chloe stays behind in NYC and mopes over Gib, while Gib takes himself off hiking in an area that is notorious for snowstorms in July. Gib survives the snowstorm, but he totally loses on the outdoor survival skills when he takes a steep trail still iced up and falls and breaks his leg.

This sends him back to NYC, but he thinks Chloe has already departed. Chloe, the innocent tart, decides she just can't go home to Farmer Dave, because she HAS to care for Gib. Some tender nursing care and one hot tub later and unicorns are banished forever - tho Chloe did call Farmer Dave up and tell him she was dumping him.

The purple passion moment is bliss and Gib is about ready to admit defeat and give into his Lurve Force feelings. But then Farmer Dave shows up at the door and knocks Gib on his hiney. Chloe thinks Gib doesn't love her, so she goes home with Farmer Dave to Iowa to mope some more for three more weeks.

Gib has his own mopey moments, before he finally admits he needs Chloe. He hotfoots it back to Iowa and hunts Chloe down to declare he loves her for the big HEA.

This one was okay, a little drawn out and a little too real world in that both characters use other people to sublimate their attraction to each other, but overall not a terrible HP outing.

Slow burn romance that is fluffy in tone. It’s the last book of a series, so there are references to other characters living out their HEAs.

H/h are both from the same Iowa town. Hero is ten years older, a successful New York fashion photographer, and he’s never met the heroine. Hero’s older sister sends the kindergarten teacher heroine to be his assistant for two months in the summer. After interviewing a nun for a feature in the small town newspaper, heroine thinks she needs to re-examine her “vocation” – that of marrying her high school sweetheart. She thinks a two-month hiatus in sin city will help her make up her mind about marrying.

Yes, heroine is engaged when she walks into the hero’s studio where six naked models are waiting for the seventh model to show up. Hero thinks the heroine is the seventh model and asks her strip down for the photo shoot. Heroine had been told an assistant does everything – even if she might be needed to stand in for lighting purposes, so she strips and hero starts shooting.

Hero is uncomfortably aware that he is very attracted to this body that “jiggles” and blushes and he thinks he’s losing his objectivity.

Fortunately, the seventh models shows up and the heroine can slink away in mortification. Hero is very angry she didn’t speak up and worries about how she is going to handle NYC.

Heroine begs to stay on and turns out to be an invaluable assistant. The H/h’s attraction to each other grows.

Heroine is jealous of the hero’s dates. Hero is jealous of the heroine’s dates. They are both trying to forget she is engaged.

She eventually breaks off her engagement by phone but doesn’t tell the hero. They end up in bed together after hero breaks his leg (long story). Her jilted fiancé shows up to bring the heroine home. Hero feels guilty for taking the heroine’s virginity and doesn’t fight for her.

Heroine returns to Iowa because hero didn’t say he loved her. Heroine doesn’t get back with her fiancé, but mopes around. Within three weeks, the Hero wakes up and returns to his hometown to stop the wedding. There is no wedding to stop. HEA.

I enjoyed this for what it was – a slow burn romance with no twists and turns. The heroine took too long to break it off with her fiancé, but better late than never.

I enjoyed this one, though not as much the other New York books. Gibson is a fashion photographer who mistakes Chloe to be his model and asks her to strip, she does and he starts noticing her which is an anomaly for him since he has no interests in models.

Chloe has actually come from his home-town to be his assistant to try out her wings before she gets married. She is mortified after the stripping experience but determined to stick it out even when Gibson clearly wants to send her home.

Gibson doesn't want the responsibility since he is quite jaded about women. You can smell a bad experience from a mile away at this point, he dates but not seriously of course.
He tries to stay away from Chloe and gets irritated with her talks of her fiancee and so does Chloe when she sees him with someone else.

He sees her befriending her hunky fire-man neighbor which irritates him, so to irritate her he starts dating another model(at this point I was very ambiguous about this since it isn't clearly indicated what that relationship was and neither is it discussed later, and I am a fan of the hero not getting it on with another woman with the heroine in the picture). I did believe Gibson played it up a bit to show Chloe how it felt when she kept bringing up her fiancee's name.

He tries to resist her by even going away on a vacation after years and sticking it out even while hating it and so does she but of course that doesn't happen. He comes home injured expecting her to be gone but she doesn't. She breaks it off with her fiancee without telling him since she knows that she loves him more clearly.
A good read but it took them a long time to get together..

It was okay. The couple had a strong attraction to each other, but essentially it’s a cheating book. Heroine cheats on her fiancé with the Hero. And they end up together.

Chloe yang bosan dengan kehidupannya di Lowa, bermaksud mencari pengalaman baru di New York dengan bekerja sebagai asisten fotografer. Tapi siapa sangka, ketika ia masuk studio, pekerjaan yang harus dia lakukan adalah berdiri telanjang bersama 6 gadis lain untuk dipotret. Chloe tak bisa berpikir, dirinya hanya ingat perkataan Gina-orang yang membantunya memberikan pekerjaan itu padanya-untuk menuruti apa saja yang dikatakan sang fotografer. Dan ketika Gib-nama fotografer itu-menyuruh Chloe untuk melepas semua pakaiannya, ia tak bisa menolak.

Chloe butuh pekerjaan itu, dia butuh berada di New York.

Jadi, di sanalah Chloe berdiri, telanjang bersama 6 gadis lain, dituntut berpose sedemikian rupa.

Gib sudah ternbiasa dengan lekuk tubuh wanita, tapi, ketika ia melihat tubuh telanjang Chloe, fokusnya buyar. Chloe, hidup. Berbeda dengan gadis-gadis lain di sampingnya. Chloe membangkitkan sesuatu yang jauh terkubur di dalam diri Gib.

Jadi, ketika satu gadis lain masuk ke studionya dan mengaku menjadi gadis ke 7 yang seharusnya berpose telanjang di sana, pada saat itu juga Gib menyadari, jika Chloe memang berbeda dengan gadis-gadis yang selama ini dikenalnya.

Tipe gadis yang harus di jauhi

Kedekatan, perdebatan, serangan verbal hingga berbalas kecemburuan, membawa Chloe dan Gib ke dunia yang sama-sama mereka hindari.

Gib bukan jenis pria yang akan mengikatkan dirinya pada satu wanita.

Chloe tidak membutuhkan kerumitan lain di pikirannya.

Tapi, tidak ada yang bisa mengendalikan perasaan mereka terhadap satu sama lain yang sebenarnya.

Mereka sama-sama tergoda, tapi tidak ada yang menyadari siapa sebenarnya yang seorang penggoda.

Lucu, ringan, gemesin.

Aplagi saat Chloe mulai mikirin Gib, dia terus ngulang2 nama tunangannya, Dave.Sampe bikin Gib panas dingin, yang juga dibales Gib ngomongin Alana, yang luar biasa memuaskan.

Ada bagian masa lalunya, tapi dikit, gak terlalu berpengaruh juga.

3rd in a series by the author (I accidentally started with the last in the series so this is my 4th book) This was not my favorite of the series, but it was still a nice little escape from everyday life. Some of my enjoyment in this book stemmed from the fact that it kept us up to date with some of the characters from past and future books.

Our H is a talented fashion photographer. He is commitment phobic due to an earlier bad experience with a woman...he is definitely a boob man(or at least entranced by our h’s jiggly ones!

Our h is a sheltered, woman from Iowa who has been engaged to the local farmer since high school(like 8 years) she is encouraged by the local nun to go explore the world so that is how she came to be in NYC. The H’s sister asked him to take on our small town girl as an assistant.

Fireworks ensue when the H and h meet. Basically, most of the book is these two fighting their attraction for each other and the fact that the H doesn’t want a commitment type of gal. Since our h is engaged, she uses this for most of the book as a reason she can’t be attracted to the H. The guy eventually gets the girl in the end and our friend Izzy who was in the first book is now responsible for getting 2 couples together!

Argumento:

Gibson Walker sólo había aceptado emplear a Chloe como un favor. Él no tenía tiempo para hacer de niñera de una chica de pueblo. Entonces, ¿por qué se sentía atormentado por la tímida belleza de Chloe y enfurecido porque ella ni siquiera se fijara en él?

Chloe no se atrevía a fijarse en Gib. Primero, porque ella estaba prometida a otro hombre y, segundo, porque él era atractivo como un pecado y un soltero empedernido.
