In my quest to clear the bookshelves, I found this paperback first published in 1999 and I have no idea how I acquired it. The setting was Dallas and that's probably why I bought it. But not even the mention of my old alma mater Stephen F Austin State University could save this book for me. Much of the story line was pretty unbelievable and the actions of the detectives were too. Detectives don't act the way these did. But if readers like a romance that's obviously a work of fiction, this one is complex.

Nicole cannot fathom that Jay is gone. He that meant so much. Something seems off, and she cannot figue out why. With the help of detective McKenna she hopes to have answers. She has way too many questions and nothing to show.

Ms. Helen is good at putting a story together. I just wish I knew how detailed it was to be. I loved it all but a heads up would have been nice. The characters had feelings that seemed real. I loved seeing the twists that happened. I was blown away by the ending. I will definitely check out other books she has done. Well done and neatly ended!

Another "excellent" novel by Myers!!!

From back cover:

"A man who had everything to live for was dead. A baby had disappeared into thin air. And a highly respected Dallas police detective was behaving suspiciously.....They'd ruled her brother's death a "suicide", but Nicole Loring refused to believe he'd take his own life. What's more, she knew that her nephew's disappearance was somehow linked to his father's death. With nowhere else to turn, she enlisted the help of the last man she should trust....
