James Acton Thrillers #15

The Thirteenth Legion

Rate this book
After Interpol Agent Hugh Reading spots his missing partner in Berlin, it sets off a chain of events that could lead to the death of his best friends, and if the legends are true, life as we know it.

In true Kennedy style, this globe-spanning thriller provides all the action, humor, romance and heartbreak only he can deliver. Loyalties will be tested, blood will be shed, and friends will die, as archeology professors James Acton and Laura Palmer are once again pulled into the troubled history of a cult they had hoped had forgotten them, with only their wits and friends to rely upon.

The Acton's just can't get a break and they're soon back into the thick of things the moment bullets start flying.

Hugh Reading has seen an old friend but before they can connect, trouble looms and the Ancient Order is back in their lives. The split that caused the last battle is about to become all-out war. The Crystal skulls are back in play and this time, the Acton's will be there to see the effects of them all being in a single place.

It is non-stop action from the moment you pick up the book to putting it down but this time, there may not be any winners.

Book 15

Book 15 was a fun read and had a few errors throughout. The plot and characters developed well and the overall of the story is continuing of the glass skulls. The characters again find themselves in trouble with the skulls and the plot tells more about the Romans taking the skull to Britain and what happened after they settled. The present location of the plot has the characters back and forth between places and they discover problems within the organization and a friend, it was a fun book, but a bit slow compared to the others.

I'm a huge fan of the James Acton series, and read all of them. This is the worst of the series, by far. Not sure why Kennedy chose to go back to the Triarii plot and the crystal skulls, but the result is this complicated and over-the-top mess. The usual cast returns, which is a plus, but the plot was just goofy and messy. This book will only appeal to diehards in the series, otherwise you'd be best to skip this one.

Well, I thought I would love this book but it wasn’t the best in the series. Still ok though. You definitely have to read others before this one. I found it confusing. I would have to make sure I wasn’t skipping pages because it jumped without explanations. And the ending was hard to believe knowing the characters so well. I guess it was done on purpose to reintroduce the skulls in a later installment. Not my favorite.

Another fast action book in the series. It is always fun reading these. The characters are like family to you. You want to see what is going to happen next. Really enjoy this series.

The whole series needs a refresh. Enough with the repeating story lines. The professors get kidnapped yet again , the crystal skulls are on the pages yet again. It's getting repetitive.
