I really liked this and was pleasantly surprised that the baby was not the hero's and that the hero was actually a stand-up guy. Hero is early 40s, h is 27. She has feelings for him and when she thinks he is reconciling with ex, makes a drunken mistake and then quits her job. When she is injured the hero comes to her rescue, taking care of her so well. You can see and feel what he feels for her.

This is the second time I've read this book, and loved it just as much as the 1st time I read it. It is one of my favorites!
This was a passion filled romance. Nikki worked for Alex for years. She knew she loved him, and couldn’t bare to witness him dating other women, so she turned in her notice. She went on vacation and was shocked to wake up in a hospital bed with Alex sitting nearby. She was put on bed rest for 3 weeks. During that 3 weeks, Alex took care of Nikki, cooking for her, and carrying her when she needed to go to the bathroom. He was so sweet, and caring. My heart was touched at how much he loved and cared for Nikki. If you love a good mushy romance, this is it! Who wouldn’t fall in love with a man, that took care of you, was handsome, and rich too! Great story. I also was happy to see Nikki’s family brought into the story. A lot of the characters were from other Weaver books that I have read.
Sample from chapter 6
Finding Nikki’s coat, he pulled it over her bare arms, then picked her up and carried her to the truck. “I’m sorry about this.” She murmured as he nudged her fumbling hands out of the way, to fasten the safety belt himself. “I’m the one who’s sorry,” he countered. Sorry he’d let her lift a single finger. Heat was coming off her in waves, and he hoped to hell it was because of the contrast between her and the freezing conditions outside. Certain that she was tucked in safely, he slammed the door and strode around to the drivers side. In seconds, they were heading down the road, buffeted by the wind. “This is terrible weather to be driving in. Nobody should be out in this.” Nikki shifted in her seat,
sample from chapter 11 - He closed his mouth over hers. Nothing tentative. Nothing exploratory. This was a complete and total annihilation of her senses. Her head fell back. His hands threaded through her hair, tangling in it, binding her to him. She curled her arm around his neck even as he stepped in more closely. And she groaned, starbursts pricking inside her head when he tore his mouth away to haul in a hissing breath. His hands unwound from her hair and roved down her back, captured her hips, tilting her against him.

This book was a good read. Despite the fact that the book gave very little detail regarding the characters past it was okay. This book was about a woman named Nikki Day, who didn't like relying on anyone but herself. The book began when Nikki suddenly found herself awaken in a strange hospital staring at the man who was her previous boss. A man she grew to love over the years and tried -- apparently unsuccessfully -- to put some distance between herself and her ex-boss. The story has a twist because she's pregnant with Alex's cousin's baby.
Nikki is forced to rely on Alex's help because of her medical condition and being pregnant. It doesn't help that her desire for Alex is stronger with them now temporarily living together. Their feelings for one another comes together quickly but the sudden proposal from Alex throws her off emotionally. Could she turn a proposal born of duty into one of desire?
Like I said this book is a good read and like many of the books I like, it starts off at a fast pace.

4 stars. Nikki Day is in a predicament not only did she quit her job because she was in love with her boss Alex Reed she also did something that will change her life forever. When she finds herself in hospital in Montana Alex is the one who turns up at her bedside. When thrown together will Alex see Nikki as woman and not an ex employee and will Nikki's secret tear them apart permanently. This was a really good read with a very hot yummy hero and an independent woman used to relying solely on herself. Although not set in Weaver this is another member of the Clay family (through marriage) finding their HEA. Good recommended read.

I just love the Clay family and this series is always good and I have been hooked since I read "Stay..." by Allison Leigh years and years ago. Just got finish reading it again for about the 10th time. This book is a tie-in to Ms. Leigh's "Men of the Double C Ranch" and "Return to the Double C Ranch". This is a Silhouette Special Edition book which all of Ms. Leigh's books of these series are part of. Either Silhouette and/or Harlequin. If you like romance with just a hint of heat that ALWAYS has a happy ending this is your book..

I liked the first books in the series best about the original Clay's but did enjoy this one too. Parts of this story seemed really unrealistic but I really liked Alex's character.
