I have been reading books on productive and powerful habits to inculcate in my life. This gives a summary of all. Wake up early, practice morning ritual, drink water, workout, do the important tasks first, meditate, do yoga, positive affirmations and have great healthy diet. Healthy mind lives in a healthy body. Be careful of all inputs to your body through your senses. Aware n be alert.
But still it's good enough. It has a very uplifting tone which was rather nice (then again, it is a self-help book, so could it 'not' have an uplifting tone?) and I liked a lot her sober writing style. I only found one mistake in the whole text (a typo, I guess), so no complains regarding the editing. My main objections are regarding the lack of scientific sources (it's not like she invented the concepts mentioned) and the small displays of mysticism/spirituality/positive thinking nonsense. They're not that annoying (the displays of nonsense), but they're still on the book. I guess if I were more hippie or 'more' Millenial, I wouldn't have minded those. *shrugs* The book is good for reading while in the doctor's office or while on the bus.
First off, a habit is an action that you perform repeatedly or “habitually”, hence the word habit. None of the reasons for success that the author describes is actually an action and therefore, not a habit. They are concepts that can be the reason behind an action, but again, not an action, and certainly not a habit. One of my habits, for instance, is to tie my right shoelace first when I’m putting on my shoes. It is an action I do without thinking, because it is a habit. It’s too bad that the topic of developing habits isn’t really discussed in this book. The author tells you up front that she’s read everything she could get her hands on about the topic of self help and it shows. The book includes everything every other book says on the topic: set goals, think positive, yada yada yada.
I usually have trouble getting into self-help books. It has little to do with the book itself, it's just hard for me to shut out the negative self-talk. but, I somehow managed to power through it, probably because I read this in our living room, not in bed where I usually read.
It does have some of the ~happtness is a choice, if you want to succeed just believe you will~ talk but not enough or it wasn't intense enough to turn me off it.
Its a very quick read, if your looking for a short 'self-help' book this could be one to check out.
I agree with most of the ideas in the book. The only thing I disagree is at the negative vs. positive thoughts where readers are advised to write "I am full of energy." next to "I am tired." I think it is necessary for us to acknowledge that we are tired or any other negative feelings, embrace it, know the triggers and act upon them in such a way that we fell better faster or if we don't feel better quick enough, how to lessen the effect of such negative feelings in daily life. Who doesn't have ups and downs?
I felt this book made changes I want to implement in my life, doable. I liked that she provided concrete ideas and also didn't stress one way to do the suggested strategies, but that there was flexibility depending on your current situation. This book gives me hope that changes, although difficult at first, are the basic foundation for a successful, happy life.
I read this in about 40 minutes. Very surprised at how much information this short read covered. Simple to read and everything in here served a purpose. I highlighted many things, wrote some things down and actually feel much better now than I did before I downloaded this. Recommend for short attention spans that want some direction in life!
I gave it two stars because it was thankfully short, sweet, and to the point; though, it did not provide any more useful information than many other self help books. I believe I won the e-book in a Goodreads giveaway; however, I purchased the audio for $1.99. It is my opinion it is not worth the cost for an audible upgrade.
It was a great read with many helpful habits to improve your lifestyle and bring happiness to your life. I wish it had a more examples for each habit that was presented. I would recommend this book.
Enjoyed this book! I have found the better morning routine the better my day seems to go. I love the ideas she presents for organizing your morning routine and how to put your ideas into practice.
Short and consice, but full of great actionable nuggets .
Author has packed a truck full of great advice into a very consice book. She gets to the heart of the matter without the expected fluff that you find in many books covering the same topic.
This is a great short read if you're wanting to start improving your life. I definitely recommend this to anyone who feels stuck just needs some form of guidance.
The book was very interesting. The 7 habits mentioned in the book are the keys to a happy and successful life in one way or other. Overall a great read !
Its a very basic and to the point kind of a book which focuses on highlighting the benefits and value of following a schedule. There isn't anything in there that who you haven't heard already, but it helps you in assessing your habits and can motivate you to get things right.
"Everything in life is neutral. It is you who gives it meaning. Therefore, obstacles, failures, or disappointments can be viewed as either good or bad, it is all up to you. " I would strongly recommend this book to those people who would love to improve themselves but don't feel like reading a thick book and thousands of thousands words .
This book has a lot of value if you actually implement the ideas in it.. Easy to read in plain english. I recommend everyone to do themselves a favor and read it and implement it.
Literally says the same thing every other self help book says. Make goals. Exercise. Meditate. Be grateful. Communicate. Be an early bird. Have a routine..... Well thanks. I'm definitely changed. (Not)
