WARNING: May Contain Egyptian Gods, Werewolves, Power Armor, and a World Ending Apocalypse

A pyramid predating all known cultures appears without warning. Its discovery throws into question everything we know about the origins of mankind.

Inside lies incredible technology, proof of a culture far more advanced than our own. Something dark lurks within, eager to resume a war as old as mankind. When it is unleashed it heralds the end of our species’ reign.

A plague of werewolves spreads across the world. A sunspot larger than anything in recorded history begins to grow. Yet both pale in comparison to the true threat, the evil the werewolves were created to fight.

"It's like Indiana Jones went through the Stargate and ended up in Aliens versus Predator." - One of the author's totally biased friends.

This collection gathers No Such Thing As Werewolves, No Mere Zombie, Vampires Don't Sparkle and The First Ark. It's over 1,200 pages!

By day I am an iPhone developer architecting the app used to scope Stephen Colbert’s ear. By night I am Batman. Ok maybe not. One can dream though, right?

I’ve been writing since I was six years old and started inflicting my work on others at age 18. By age 24 people stopped running away when I approached them with a new story and shortly thereafter I published my first one in the Rifter.

Wait you’re still reading?

Ok, the facts I’m supposed to list in a bio. As of this writing I’m 38 years old and live just north of the Golden Gate Bridge in the beautiful town of Mill Valley. If you’re unsure how to find it just follow the smell of self-entitlement. Once you see the teens driving Teslas you’ll know you’re in the right place.

I live in a tiny studio that I can cross in (literally) five steps and don’t own an oven. But you know what? It’s worth it. I love developing iPhone apps and if you want to work in San Francisco you accept that rent for a tiny place costs more than most people’s mortgage.

If you and about 2 million other people start buying my books I promise to move out of Marin to a house in the redwoods up in Guerneville. No pressure. Wait that’s a lie. Pressure.

I picked this up almost a year ago on Audible based on the price and description, then promptly forgot it existed. Finally working through some of my backlog, I decided to start the first book. The plan was to read the first book, then switch to something else. While the first book is the slowest and weakest in the series, I was hooked by the end and listened through the rest of the collection. This was fun, action packed, and interesting. I have added the forth book to my list and will likely be reading it soon.

Great eead

Had no idea how enjoyable this series of books was going to be. Bought these on a whim and am so glad I did. Great combination of creatures we know and the past we thought we knew. Characters are very well developed. A fun read start to finish.

kindle unlimited, first off, a collection that includes the prequel should have the prequel first in the book, and while I don't usually take off for spelling/grammar issues, there was so many that at times my audio stuttered or otherwise didn't make sense, and when forced to read it by sight there were homonym errors and repeats of the same text/'catch up' rememer from previous book parts that were way too close to each other as in parts to make sure knew of something not just the first part of each chapter going over what led up to, repeats of what had just been written a couple or so lines back, and some of it contradictory. I would have noted the issues each time but I'm not the ARC reader for these, maybe nobody was from some of the issues. If it hadn't made it hard to understand, wouldn't have taken off a star, but starting with prequel in BACK of 3 stories made no sense and the issues continued from there. BTW, a werewolf smashing a window pane THEN busting down a door makes no sense, and that was the same for too many other bits and pieces and parts, including length & shift ability, and being able to link/talk to minds yet in the most important instances actually saying outloud where the bad guys can hear it all. Also no idea half time whether in present or not, as switches scenes from recent to uh when was this? Didn't really understand vampire one much. So much gave 3.

I didn't expect to really like this series. I have just about had it with Egyptian gods messing with our time. I have fairly low tolerance for vampire stories. Zombies bore me to tears. And… The last werewolf movie that I liked had an incredibly young Michael Landon in it.

I just wanted to see how Chris Fox would pull it all together before trusting his wisdom on writing.

The Reader in me was unexpectedly delighted with the way these tropes work into enjoyable stories. Each book in this collection is satisfactorily resolved, yet left more questions for the future. It's a lot of fun.

What an interesting compendium. I am amazed at how the author utilizes ancient mythos, weaves it with werewolves, vampires, and then appears to hint at the Ancient Astronaut theory. The books have slow moments, but then it turns around and grabs you by the throat.

Started off pretty good. Got very tedious when the gods started endlessly battling.

I got the first Deathless book as a freebie, and bought the set on the strength of it — not simply because I wanted to know what happened next, but because I enjoyed the writing.
This series will not be for everyone. It mixes fantasy and sci-fi. There are vampires, werewolves and zombies. There are also aliens. Oh, and the ancient Egyptians are involved, along with other mysteries and myths. It is a hodge-podge of ideas, and should be a bit of a disaster. But I feel it works. There seems to be an underlying logic. If the author is making this up as he’s going along, he’s doing it with some style, and I’d prefer to believe that he had the basics of the story solidly in his head before he started writing the first book. And if there is any incredulity about what is happening, it is felt by the characters too.
These characters are an interesting bunch. They are not the black and white you might expect — this isn’t ‘monsters vs aliens vs humans’. Instead, the characters all have their own motivations, and their own viewpoints. There is not necessarily a ‘right’ and a ‘wrong’ side, and I often found myself rooting for characters who were opposing one another. Again, this could have been a mess, but the author guides us through all this moral ambiguity without having characters suddenly ‘turn bad’. Ultimately, there are no perfect heroes or villains, just a cast of characters each seeking their own path, and making the best of strange situations.
The books are action-packed, but unfortunately this becomes more of a weakness than a strength. Initially, the action sequences were exciting, and set the series off to a fast start. But by the time I was onto the third book (and possibly part-way through the second), the fight scenes started to bore me. They became lists of who did what, and who got their arm ripped off, and so on. And yes, arms do get ripped off, but because these are fantasy creatures, they are self-healing. A nice idea, but also one that is overplayed to the point of becoming dull — in most fight scenes, a character losing a limb would be devastating, but here is it nothing more than a scratch. This cuts (no pun intended) a great deal of the tension from the fights.
But I don’t want to dwell on that, because overall these are great books — adventurous, well-written for the most part, and with story strands that left me wanting to find out more. The trilogy comes to a tidy conclusion, but with room for more books, and I hope there are more to follow.
This collection does include the prequel novella, ‘The First Ark’, but to be honest I found this disappointing, especially compared to the others. It does explain some of the history behind the Arks, but it feels like the author was trying to write a romance, and it doesn’t work.
But I don’t want to dwell on the negatives, because they are far outweighed by the positives. The books are fast-paced adventures, and generally well-written. The characters are well-developed, with ‘alien’ ones feeling sufficiently different, and none of the cliches that might normally crop up in books like these. The situations develop fast, and even with the array of different elements they always feel plausible. Although the books are not short, I flew through them, always wanting to read one more chapter. Even when I started skim-reading the fights, it was so that I could find out what happened next.
In short, they are great entertainment.
The trilogy ends well (always good in a series like this), but there are enough open loops for more Deathless books. I have heard rumours that the author is working on one (after his experiments with writing to the space opera market), and I’m already eager to read it.

Is this Sci Fi or fantasy? very hard to decide, even more than other very close calls. you have werewolfs, zombies, demons etc, but there is also some obvious SciFi elements. I will rate it and put it in fantasy, even if the whole thing is based on aliens. kinda like a Eric von Daniken and that the pyramids and stuff was built by aliens. just in a fantasy fiction where his books should be along with L Ron Hubbard and the Scientology stuff. (rant nothing to do with the series which is pretty good!)

only 3 star as this is a series I will only recommend to people that like the genre. For me to give 4 stars I would recommend the book/series to most people, and 5 I will go on saying "you have read nothing if you don't read this. This book(s) are a must read for anyone no matter what genre they like!" everytime books are the topic.

(I have not adjusted all of my ratings since I started to use this rating system, as in the beginning every book I liked got 5 stars. this makes the ratings useless imo so I made new criterias for rating the books.)

An audiobook that held my interest through the whole thing. An interesting take on the werewolf mythos. I liked it a lot.
