Peace reigns at last in the lands of Elundium. Until rumors of a power-hungry group, the Chancellors, stir up old fears of cruelty and suffering. Determined to prevent a repeat of the past, the Elundium people band together to form a fighting force worthy of all they have attained--the Knights of Cawdor.

I thoroughly enjoyed the story itself - the heroes of this piece who are unfairly accused of treachery, and who must rick everything to fight for innocence. There were parts of that tale the were so engaging, I would have given this five stars. I found Drib an amazing character, as are Oaktangle and his group. They make reading this novel a joy.
The reason I'm not giving this five stars if simple. The Knights of Cawdor are not referenced in the novel until the very end. It's a novel of setting a scene for the Knights to be created. It's an exciting novel, but if the title is The Knights of Cawdor, then give me the knights in this novel. Sure, there are some plucky acts by our heroes, but maybe the title for a novel where they are actually knights.
I enjoyed this fourth novel in the Elundium series. At the end of the arc of the first three books the kingdom appears saved, but this next installment shows that moving into a quiet peacetime isn't that easy. A big change in this novel is that it switches from the more stiff "bard telling a history" writing style of the first three novels to a straight modern novel writing style, which I found much more appealing.
